A compact Taiwanese spot located on the outskirts of Carnegie Mellon University. The menu has a good variety of dishes and food was served quickly on a weekday afternoon.
-----
Pan-Fried Mackerel Bento (生煎鯖魚便當) ($12.50).
The mackerel had a crispy skin and was not too salty or dry. Be careful with the fillet as it is not de-boned. Beneath had a tiny amount of vegetables and two pieces of pickled radish. Majority of the dish was steamed white rice.

Only cash or Venmo are accepted with tax already included in the prices. A few barstool seating is available, but primarily fulfills take-out orders. No restrooms for customers, and a cup of tap water can be given if requested.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Victoria W.Pittsburgh, PA19171292Apr 4, 2023
The menu is very large and has a wide variety of different options to choose from. The pricing is very affordable so I tried a few things on the menu. My food was pretty good but it seemed like it needed a little more flavor. The staff was very nice and patient with us as we took a long time to look at the menu. Even though the food is freshly made, they made it very quickly which was nice. Would be back to try something else on the menu!

Great place for takeout and they take Venmo which is really nice. The couple who works there is very sweet and the food is delicious!

Food is delicious. I ordered pineapple fried rice, chicken drumstick and beef lunch boxes. They all tasted fresh and authentic Taiwanese cook. Will visit again.

I got the salt and pepper chicken and it was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend - the restaurant is very nicely decorated with lots of plants and bright orange walls. The owners are always there and you can see them making the food which is a really great experience.
The restaurant is cash only so be sure to bring cash!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jasmine L.Matawan, NJ052Jun 1, 2019

Not sure who wrote the 1 star review below but they're clearly privileged and spoiled with no taste in food.
This place is clean, timely and most importantly friendly. The owners are the sweetest people I've met and always willing to provide recommendations for the hungry soul. Food tastes like home and they treat their customers like their own family.
How about providing recommendations and ratings that help small businesses?Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 1 - Kanyawee T.Greenville, SC144177310Jun 19, 2019
The restaurant and kitchen are clean. There are not many seats inside mainly for takeout. The food took awhile to come out so don't come hungry.
I like that there are a lot of vegetables in the dishes. The flavor is pretty light, not too salty or oily. It is cash only. I'll go back and try their Taiwanese dishes next timeHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Stephanie L.Warrendale, PA1221Sep 26, 2021
Mediocre food. Very small portion for the price. Only plus is proximity to Oakland area.

Wow! What an amazing authentic family run restaurant close to Pitt! I've been looking for more authentic Asian food near campus and my apartment and TW delivered.
I ordered the Taiwanese fried rice (lighter and more tasty than its American counterpart), pork belly with garlic sauce appetizer (topped with fresh cilantro and an amazing sauce that I poured over the rest of my food), beef with tofu and egg entree (with black bean sauce), and I asked for some sauteed Asian vegetables (they gave me some perfectly cooked bok choy). This was enough to feed three very hungry people. The food came out in 15 minutes.
The pork belly was perfectly fatty, the rice hearty and a perfect accompaniment for the beef dish. I eat paleo + rice and soy so it was great to have a lot of protein and fat along with the huge serving of healthy vegetables. Everything was flavorful and really let the ingredients shine. I almost forgot--we were curious about the lime and fig jelly drink and ordered it as well. It was a perfectly refreshing and lightly sweetened end of the meal.
I was full all day after this hearty and healthy meal. They make everything made to order so you can ask for adjustments for your needs. For example, their veggie today was eggplant but I don't like eggplant so they said they can make Asian veggies (bok choy).
I will be coming back to TW for more great good in the future. I'll abandon the less tasty Chinese restaurants near campus for this much healthier and more authentic Taiwanese cuisine.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
