We live near by and am glad we're so close to this fine restaurant for seafood delights.
Love the fried fish, probably the best i know of. Good fish, nice crispy batter. Delish!
We also get the lobster roll, which is good, but my favorite is still lobster shack. I wish they would offer a naked version with butter/mayo on side like lobster shack.
Another suggestion would be to make the fries crispier. After writing this i have a sudden craving for fish n chips. -
It pains me to write, but i hope it will be constructive and improve the experience for future customers. We've been going here as one of our favorite sushi places for many years. In fact, after my wife gave birth this was the place i went to get her sushi fix.
However, the quality of sushi has declined to the point where i got food poisoning this week. The fish we got in our order including a roll and sashimi and both were not fresh. My daughter also eats the sushi too and also noted she didnt like it that day. Now that i think about it, i also remember a time when my daughter got a bone in the salmon sashimi.
I hope that these issues can be addressed but for us, unfortunately, we'll be getting our Japanese food elsewhere. -
Had a great experience working with Carlos. He just finished the job today. Only 3 days for my project consisting of cleanup, prep, irrigation, sod on a 700 sq lawn. It was a smooth process getting the quote and all the way through the install. I liked he was accommodating to some specific requests I had: funny pipe, mp rotor heads, chase pipe, etc.. The work went surprisingly quickly. I'm looking forward to seeing the kids play on it as well as finishing it with some complimentary plants.

I've been a fan of Philz since first having a coffee in their Palo Alto location many years ago. I was happy to see them expand to more locations but unfortunately the consistency and quality seem to have hit scaling issues.
I ordered my favorite, the Turkish, from this Cupertino location and it was one of the worst coffees I've ever had. I order mine medium/medium as usual and it was not to the expected level of sweet or creaminess. I asked if this was even what I had ordered. She poured in more cream and it was a little creamier but far from good. They used to shake the cream to give it a rich frothy texture but this was literally poured from the carton and it was not shaken or recently shaken because I was waiting there for a couple of minutes while she was chatting with another customer.
Maybe they don't do this anymore, but the baristas at Philz used to take pride in what they made and would ask if it was perfect. If it wasn't perfect they would make it again. It's funny that whenever they would ask it was always a great coffee, but now they don't ask it was so bad I couldn't even finish drinking it and I'm not one to pour coffee down the drain.
I'm not sure what people like about this place. Maybe a mint mojito is an interesting enough change from a Starbucks Frappuccino, but for me this place has lost its soul, it's attention to detail, and as of today my patronage. This was not the first time this location disappointed but it's the last.
I would hope that Phil would be disappointed that this location bears his name. The first stores were great and could deliver consistent quality and service. RIP. Today's stores are Philbucks to me, but many that's unfair since Starbucks is actually good at consistency.
PS I used to be able to replicate the taste of a Philz Turkish at home with a strong brew, heavy cream (with a heavy shaking) and cardamom. It looks like that would be the only way for me to get a good one now. -
Our drains were starting to slow down and back up. We called a plumber and we find out we're on a septic system! What a terrible surprise that is... Aside from the finger pointing of inspections and real estate agents, we need our toilets and drains to work again ASAP.
I was recommended Able from a plumber I had come out so I found them on Yelp and scheduled an appointment. I spoke to Patti in their office staff and she did a great job of getting me the info I need quickly. She emailed me a quote within 10 minutes and called to make sure I got it.
The next morning Albert and Adrian came out and did the pumping. They did a great job pumping out the tank and cleaning it. There was one point where Albert was holding Adrian's legs as he dangled down into there to survey and clean out the entry pipe! These are hard working guys. They're also very friendly. They helped me ensure that my toilet flushes were making it into the tank. That was a relief. You never think about it because you assume its just something that works, but not being able to shower or flush toilets in your own home is demoralizing.
May your septic tanks not be a surprise to find on your property! I wouldn't wish that on anyone... In any case, if you need guys to do a pumping, I would certainly go to Able again and would recommend them to others. -
First let me say that I love Philz Coffee. I'm used to going to the Palo Alto store. I live in San Jose so when this one opened I was pretty happy to have one nearby. The first few times I went the coffee was great, same as what I would get in Palo Alto.
However, I went again recently and both the coffee taste and the service were definitely not to the same standards as the other stores. One example of a more distinctive thing that Philz does is the frothing of their creamer. It takes a lot of shaking to get the foamy top layer thats so delicious. It takes work to get that and it was not the case on my last visit.
Another thing that surprised me was that they don't give a complementary cup of coffee with a bag purchase. They do this in the Palo Alto location and even at Barefoot coffee. I was also overcharged for the bag of coffee we bought and had to ask that it be corrected. They would not comp a cup with the bag purchase even though I mentioned thats the first time at Philz that the cup wasn't included.
I'm disappointed that this location is a sub-standard Philz establishment and will be going to another location in the future. -
One day my oil light came on while I was driving so I pulled off into a parking lot to see whats up. I found that the car was spewing oil! Luckily I wasn't far from home and when I got back I called the Acura Honda Connection up based off of the positive reviews I found here.
When I called I was immediately very pleased at the friendliness and willingness to communicate what he thought was wrong and how they would go about working on the car. He suspected that one of the seals (crank and/or harmonic balancer had been dislodged). At no point did I get the sense that he was in a hurry or gloss over details. I was most impressed. I was actually thinking I was going to call around, but I was so pleased with the phone call I decided to go with them.
For my situation, the car had about 160k miles and had an early timing belt change so it was time for this service anyway. So what they did was the timing belt replacement service and since they needed to open up that part of the engine, they could easily inspect and replace what was needed to in order to fix the oil leakage. What this meant for me was saving a lot of labor costs and only having to pay a bit more for just the cost of the new seals.
When they had the engine open they noticed leaking cam seals as well and recommended that I also replace those. This was actually something forgot about. Another mechanic (from another shop) in the past had said that these would eventually need to be done. So since the engine was already open the cost wasn't much more.
I really appreciated their free loaner car service. It was very convenient and made not having my car not such a big deal.
In conclusion I had a very positive experience with the guys at Acura Honda Connection. I found them to be very knowledgeable, experienced, friendly, honest, and reasonably priced. I've actually at some point in time interfaced with 3 of the main guys at the shop and I found this to be true of all of them.
Next time I have an issue with any Honda car. I know where I'm going to take it.
Highly recommended! -
I needed towing to the mechanic, Acura Honda Connection. Acura Honda Connection suggested C&M so I used their towing service.
I thought the price was reasonable. They did show up a bit late due to an accident, but stuff happens I guess. Rode in with the tow truck man and thought he was friendly and seemed to enjoy the job, that's always good =) It seems that they cover a lot of towing covering all major highways and expressways day and night.
I was a bit worried after reading Cindy H's review as I'm of Asian descent, but I read the review after I already called them for a pickup.
I was a bit disturbed after reading the review, but I did not notice any sort of discrimination/rudeness mentioned from my experience with them over on the phone call or with the tow driver.
