FOIE. GRAS. RAVIOLI. WITH. TRUFFLE. SAUCE.
Pure luxury for 21€. Decadent foie wrapped in freshly made noodles in a pool of rich truffle sauce that was surprisingly airy and light. My welcome to Paris dish. Definitely one of the best things I ever ate.
Walking up to the restaurant at 6pm, you can easily tell that this is a foodie destination given the amount of tourists that were seated outside. We lucked into some seats at the bar where the bartender was warm, welcoming, and gave some great recommendations on wine.
Other dishes we tried.
Mac and cheese foie gras - The thin bechamel, melted cheese, and a little more subtle foie provided an interesting French take.
Salmon w/ toast - The gravlax salmon was simple and clean with the bright contrast of the mustard. The French do baked good exception and the toast was up to par.
The adjoining artisanal food shop was cool to browse around. The foie gras ravioli is the star of the show though. -
More like 4.5 stars.
Super solid burger joint in the Le Marais neighborhood!
Burgers are about 11€ but I suggest the formule 13€ where you get fries and a soda.
I had the Tom burger and it was pretty awesome.
What makes this burger is so special is the freshly baked light as a pillow brioche bun (f'n fantastic) and the burger patty itself. The patty is like a seared steak tartare! Quick sear for the Maillard reaction and then loosely packed juicy beef. The contrast with the lettuce, sweet ketchup, tangy pickle and interesting tomme de vache au cidre cheese created a very satisfying French burger experience. Perfectly crispy fries rounded out the meal to make me say Ohh la la.
*they did a ton of takeout for locals. -
Charming small town hotel that makes for a perfect weekend getaway to recharge.
The water of the naturally hot springs pool didn't feel different from your typical heated hotel pool in terms of temperature or viscosity but what made the pool so unique was the chill aspect of it. Everyone just literally floats on the floaties relaxing. There would be times where your floaty would catch the pool's jet stream and you'll end up in and help create a larger cluster of people on floaties. You end up chatting them up and that's how floaty communities are formed. Definitely unique.
The rooms are clean, air conditioning is a little loud, and it's a short walk to the pool but overall very quaint and give off that Napa Valley vibe. My absolute favorite thing inside the room was these black truffle potato chips, totally addicting and on my amazon list.
+ Bikes onsite
+ Easy free parking
+ Easy to walk to old down town Calistoga
+ Solid restaurant onsite
+ Games onsite -
Great vibes. Awesome food. Strawberry, pineapple and watermelon soju!
Thank you to Candice and Seoul Kalbi for an awesome event!
Standouts include their real charcoal bbq grill! You will smell like bbq but the mesquite taste is worth it. My favorites were the Kalbi, marinated pork (they had this one marinated with wine that was delicious), and spicy pork. Plentiful variety of banchan rounded out the meal.
Shoutout to my cool table mates; Brie R, Dan F, Miri S, Kao S, and Gonzalo S
I'd come back, especially considering it's only about $30x for ayce. Parking is easy and plentiful, so that's always a plus. Nice to know there's a solid ayce kbbq option around the area! -
Sardine broth.
There's two Nagi's easily walkable from the Shinjuku station. Golden Gai and this one, both are open 24/7. This one had more of chill atmosphere with no wait. Order at the ticket machine as soon as you walk in. Pretty much all counter seating inside.
Signature NIBOSHI RAMEN 1100 yen ($10 usd) sardine flavor - green onion, gooey egg, tender pork chashu but what sticks out is their fish based broth made from over 20 kinds of boiled fish and the two different types of noodles within the bowl. There's the springy and chewy typical ramen noodles as well as these inch wide thick ribbons of noodles like pappardelle. Definitely unique. The broth was interesting; smooth, umami, clean, with lots of fish flavor but not fish. It's not like drinking fish sauce. One of these tastes I find myself craving several months later.
TSUKEMEN all topping - 1170 yen ($11 usd) - I'm a broth man but these noodles got me going the other way. Bouncy, springy, great mouth feel, just fun to eat. Had a sip of the broth by itself and puckered at the concentrated ultra rich, deeply salty umami flavor. If you're looking to up the umami ante, there's sardine vinegar tableside.
You're definitely going to get a unique bowl here. Come to this location for a more chill experience than the Golden Gai location. -

Was super excited to try this place just for their beef rib! Gave them a call just to make sure they had it. First time I called, I got put on hold for 10 minutes. Called a couple times after, strait to voicemail. Man, Eff it, I'll just stop by.
Inside it's modern looking for a bbq restaurant; nice bar, plenty of tv's, order at the front, you're given a number, and your food is brought to you. They said they had the beef rib ($29) and I placed my order! YESSSS!!! Also, got a two-way combo of brisket and pork ribs to try.
Half way through waiting, the waitress says they beef ribs aren't going to be ready til 4pm, which was over an hour away. I'm like ahhhhhhhh. She offers a replacement 3 way combo and a $7 discount. I'm like it is what it is, slightly disappointed but still excited for some BBQ, especially now since I get to try all their meats.
PORK RIBS - Incredible smokey flavor. Good flavor on the dry rub. Wish they were a little meatier.
BRISKET - Mix of fatty and lean slices. Good smoke, pepper barked, more on the dry than moist side. Some pieces were dry like overcooked pot roast.
CHICKEN - Boneless thighs, little dry, once again good smoke flavor.
TRI TIP - Super dry. Least favorite.
HOT LINK - Good flavor, the inside was a little mushy for my style.
I would buy a bottle of their spicy and sweet BBQ sauce it was that good!
ASPARAGUS - The tips had lots of flavor, little salty.
MAC n CHEESE - Standard
BAKED BEANS - Favorite side. Perfectly done.
Going to have to come back for their beef rib. -
Legit 4.5 stars.
Hidden gem serving great Indian food that doesn't skimp on the spice at a great price! Plus, their free chai tea is delicious!
Next door to the Google campus, I knew the place was going to be delicious and authentic since it was full of South Asians. You order at the counter and then your food is brought to you. Inside it's cozy with about a handful of tables.
While waiting for our order, a grilled chicken boti arrived smoking and sizzling like a bonfire to the table next to us. Definitely ordering that next time.
They just might have the BEST CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA ($12) in the bay area. The flavor is incredible; smoky, charred, bold, with plenty of depth. Definitely can taste the charcoal flavor on the chunks of tender chicken.
Chicken memoni SAMOSAS $5 - Light, crisp, and generously filled. Full of spice and flavor.
SHEERMAL $2 - The milk based flatbread reminded me of a paratha.
NAAN $1 - Light, fluffy, solid version.
Both their tandoori chicken sandwiches and chapati burger (Indian cheeseburger) are quality. The masala dusted fries round out the meal. Solid lunch option for $10.
Also ordered their weekend special, the Sabri beef nihari (beef stew) $12 4.5/5. Strait up comfort food for these cooler days. Excellent spice, deep robust flavor, melt in your mouth beef.
Overall, I've probably been a couple more times including the Palo Alto location. Great price to value to deliciousness ratio. Friendly staff. Definitely added to the rotation. -
Super authentic eats, vast menu, great for groups, great interior, fun spot!
Tiny arcade games strait from Korea as soon as you walk in, there's booths that look like a Korean street stall. Lots of cool things to look at. My group of 8 sat outside in their patio and I like how my group grew to 12 and the staff easily accommodated. Definitely great for groups and late night eats.
LOVE their extensive menu. Not just kbbq but street food like tteokbokki and a wide array of stews like and soups that are meant to be shared. I like the cold barley tea you're given once you're seated.
We ordered
BLOOD SAUSAGE JIGAE $12 (4/5) - Depth of flavor from the beef broth and a good portion of rice filled sausage.
LA GALBI $18 (4.25/5) - Beefy, juicy, plump, with a smoky grilled flavor. Absolutely delicious.
Good assortment of banchans,
SEAFOOD PANCAKE $15 (4.5/5) - Crisp on the outside, soft on the inside with little bits of clam, shrimp, and scallion without being oily.
CORN CHEESE $6 simple dish, just tasty.
DEUNG KAL BI KIM CHI JIM $16 - kimchi and pork rib stew is cold weather comforting, but still tasty sitting outside on their patio in 80 degree weather.
ARMY STEW $14 (3.5/5) - Comfort food with the classic and familiar flavors of spam, sausage, instant noodles, and egg. The processed cheese slices was the icing on the cake.
SEAFOOD PANCAKE $15 (4.5/5) - Crisp on the outside, soft on the inside with little bits of clam, shrimp, and scallion without being oily. Delicious.
YANG NYUM CHICKEN WINGS $12 (3/5) Garlicky, sweet, and sticky. If only they cooked it a minute or two shorter, a little dry on the inside.
RED BEAN SHAVED ICE $7 (2/5) - Expectations didn't meet reality from the picture. Ice chunks were too hard and stuck together making a hot mess of a dessert that was difficult to eat. Skip. -
Luke's lobster is a tiny standalone shop in front of the Fashion Show mall across from the Wynn. Order at the counter and they have a shaded patio with about 4-5 tables in the back where they bring your food to you.
LUKES TRIO $19 - 3 x 1/2 rolls of lobster, shrimp, and crab. Lobster was obviosly the best tasting being clean and sweet. Simply done with the lightly toasted buttered bread and very light mayo. Delicious. (8/10)
LOBSTER TAIl $5 - Not bad for the price. Chilled and served with warmed lemon butter it's a good snack. (8/10)
Washed it down with a Maine blueberry wildflower honey lemonade $3. Have to shake it up since the honey settles but it wasn't only sweet. Tasted like summer.
Great spot for a quick lunch on the strip.10/24/2018 Hey Earl, thanks for the awesome review. Hope to see you again soon! Take care -
Unique and modern steakhouse!
It's inside the SLS hotel which is a little off the main part of the strip. Got a great seat right in front of of their "fire stage", where their team grills.
Inside, it's loud but not overly loud like STK. Pretty comprehensive menu; A5 wagyu, all sorts of seafood (caviar flights), suckling pig, and a bunch of "fun dishes"- foie smore's, iberico ham tacos, etc.
FOIE GRAS COTTON CANDY $8 - LEGIT! Sweet, fluffy, and light cotton candy juxtaposed with a caramel sized piece of slightly chilled foie gras. Worlds collide to make this sexy combo of sweet and savory. One of the best things I ever ate. (10/10).
RUEBEN $12 - Interesting take! Thin shavings of beef spiked with kraut on top a cream puff filled with sour cream that's been lightly spiked with horseradish. (6.5/10)
CHICHARRON $12 - Outside of being ginormous, perfectly average. It needed something more acidic or vinegary as a dipping sauce than the zaatar spiked yogurt. (5/10)
ALBONDIGAS MEATBALLS $16 - Juicy, great texture, it came with this saffron and almond sauce. (7/10)
SIERRA STEAK - $55 - Solid recommendation from our waiter. Good beefy flavor, nice sized portion, and the Oaxacan mole sauce was tasty. (8/10)10/11/2018
