Dec 12, 2023While a certain someone in my family had his heart set on Waffle House, I have to admit I wasn't too upset when their line was out the door. A little further up the street we came across Denny's. The kids didn't remember when there used to be a few Denny's around Michigan, so this was a nice vacation treat.
My son in particular is a breakfast lover, so the endless pancakes were a tasty dream come true for him. Everything else we got was yummy as well, and the waitress was truly a treat. She was so kind to us and everyone else who had the pleasure to have dealings with her.
Dec 12, 2023When we finally got around to rescheduling our trip, there was no longer a dining plan, so I decided to treat us to a few dining reservations. The kids and I had a few themed fun restaurants we wanted to check out, but hubs just wanted a good steak and potato. My travel agent recommended Steakhouse 71 as a great dinner on a day we didn't have park reservations. She was so right!
Although I was the crazy one to order seafood (also delicious), the kids and my husband indulged in some of the best steaks they say they've had. And they weren't just saying that. The prime rib my husband got was not the best cut at first, but our waitperson was quick to notice and get it replaced while the rest of us still had hot food.
Overall, we would definitely visit Steakhouse 71 again when we hopefully make it back to Disney.

Our drinks were beautifully made and delicious, and our macarons were so good!! Can't wait to come back for more, but we also want to try the mochi next time. Ice cream wrapped in ice cream?? Yes please!- Nov 12, 2023
Wow! We legit booked with Chay after another salon cancelled the same day, and it was the day in our schedule to get the hair done. Fate has set us right and we'll be back!
The studio space was so nicely decorated, and Chayna was a skilled professional who did a great job lightening my daughter's hair to the whitest blond possible, and giving her tips to keep it gorgeous as long as possible.

Oct 14, 2023What a great night out! I'd seen a few posts locally about Lake Orion's newest lakefront restaurant, but we're old and usually stick with our standard favorites. LOL
Hubby and I grabbed a regular hot and ready for the middle schooler while the high schooler was at the football game, and we did an adult night out :) While I'd usually start off with a comment about drinks, they looked good (mimosa flight AND a bourbon flight?!?) but I had pre-partied before I knew we were going out and planned to work before the sun came up the next morning, so I stuck with water. Hubs did have a beer, but what is there to say about that??
I had the perch with asparagus, and hubby ordered the chicken sandwich. Both were good, and the apparent love for parmesan cheese was all right with me! The seasoning on the perch was right-on - some parmesan, a little lemon, some tasty onions - would definitely order again. I'm apparently an asparagus snob, as I love the tips, but the bottom is always too woody for me. The parmesan on the asparagus tips was yummy too.
Since I skipped the drink, we shared a slice of cheesecake, which was a perfect ending to our meal.
All of the tables have a great view of the lake, and watching the smooth rolling waves was hypnotic. Next time hubby wants to sit at the table that is a boat (no, not on the water, but looks like a boat...).
I'm sure we'll be back.
