Why is Kitchen Story always so crowded? It's the FOOD. The Millionaire's Bacon alone is worth a visit - a thick "fillet" of bacon we thought looked like a small fish it was so big, drenched in syrup and topped with lots of pepper.
We got the Black Cod and Stone Pot, both great dishes with lots of vegetable, decadent sauce, and rice. Perfect food to share and very large portions, beautifully plated.
We really enjoyed sitting outside, and the service was friendly and attentive. Can't wait to return!8/3/2021 -
This neighborhood grocery store has been serving this neighborhoods for decades. It has an amazing selection of chocolates, mezcal and other alcohol, local food products like candy and cookies, pasta, and great produce much bought directly from farms. Before you go to a big supermarket be sure to check out Star. Their low prices are the real secret.

I hired Staged to Sell to stage a rental property I was selling in Vacaville. I chose Staged to Sell because the owner obviously was an expert and had staged dozens if not hundreds of homes previously. Her turnaround time on our quick sale also was impressive. We got a great price on our sale, partly which I attribute to the charming staging in the house. Her price was well below the other companies I checked with. I look forward to using this stager on future home sales (and maybe even to decorate my own home)!

I was suffering from the "Post-COVID Hair Blues" when I found Lisa Eve. I described my challenges (hair loss; having cut my hair myself. doh.) She said no worries. She took charge and gave me the most fabulous haircut that will grow out well along with world-class styling. I was ready for my close up headshots all thanks to Lisa Eve, at a great price too. Love the airy studio.

Overall I'm very happy to have chosen a Heavylux frameless shower door.
When we had some communication problems, the owner had an excellent customer-centric response. I'm glad we worked it out as it's nice to support a local business who manufactures very high quality custom shower doors. (I think my contractor was a little blown away at Heavylux's quality.)
The lesson learned was to make sure to get all of the measurements in writing and be sure you're on the same page with the person measuring.
The installer dudes were all very nice and quick.7/9/2019 -
For the first time EVER I look forward to working out (or rather the sweating, the exhaustion, the transformation in my body to strong and fit). And this all happened in just a few months!
The trainers are super friendly and encouraging, as well as helping me push myself.
What's most awesome about 9 Round Temescal is
1) free parking in the lot
2) no class times (which means not excuse not to go)
3) if you go late morning or early evening it's not too crowded
4) they're always cleaning it
5) it's only 30 minutes!
6) you'll feel kick ass and you're learning really how to box - not just working out
7) it's a great price for the amount you get to work out
The first class is free. I never thought I'd join when I did the first class but I'm so glad I did!!!6/19/2019 -
Recently spent a lot of time at the hospital with a relative whose stay spanned a few days. The hospital is trying hard to improve from its previous incarnation and we experienced a range of facilities and care.
The staff and care on the 4th floor were truly outstanding as were the travel nurses (who,
like contractors everywhere, tend to love their jobs). We had a great ER doctor too although I wouldn't choose to go to this ER.
What stood out most overall was the customer service team and lead nurses who were incredibly responsive to concerns and who quickly followed up whether to assign different staff or make sure our needs were addressed. In the 60s Avis had an ad campaign "we're #2 we try harder." This kept coming to mind with the hospital formerly known as Brotman.
Sure they need to update the buildings, standardize certain processes, and hire an OCD cleaning staff BUT we felt truly cared for, much more than at the other popular west side hospital where we have also spent much time.
They welcomed us to stay with our loved one which we really appreciated. The location is unbeatable with a fabulous Starbucks and restaurants and Trader Joe's nearby.
If you do come to this hospital and have problems be sure to speak up, in the spirit of helping them continue to improve.

Had the lunch combo here as it looked cute but...that's where the thrill stopped.
The tom ka soup and red curry tasted almost the same. Almost no curry paste in the curry, mostly sauce, very little veggie or chicken. (I make Thai curries at home so I at least expect a curry to taste like curry.)
The tom ka soup had 3 mushrooms, not much else although I know that soup tends to be mostly coconut broth.
The crispy roll was hot and tasty. The salad was refreshing.
The bill came to $12 including tax and I wished I had gone somewhere else or simply ordered pad siew as I felt like I hadn't had a substantial meal.
My takeaway was that this is somewhere I would go in a town that didn't have "authentic" Thai places (I.e., if it was the only Thai place in town) but as other reviews have said there are others surrounding this place.
Not sure why they choose not to make delicious authentic Thai food and given that I know the price of produce locally they could beef up the substance in the dishes.
Why haven't they improved given many months of bad reviews?! -
Larry cleaned my apartment's wall to wall carpet. He was super fast with communication, showed up early, and did a thorough job very efficiently.
So glad I hired him especially not knowing what ended up on the rugs after all the fires.

We would have really enjoyed poking around, although the prices are pretty high for most items we looked at. The person working there seemed incredibly annoyed to have us shopping there to the point of it being comical.
