I'm adding this page for searchability! If you look up "ice skating in Evergreen" on Yelp, nothing comes up, and it's a place that needs to be known. My friend made a two-hour rink reservation for her birthday, and it was the first time I actually enjoyed ice skating. I've only been to indoor rinks, with obnoxious music and rambunctious kids zooming around, so it was nice to get some peaceful adult time on the ice.
The parking lot was easy to find, and there were greeters to ensure you had a reservation, but knowing where to go afterwards was tricky. Luckily I had my friend to direct me to the counter for skate rentals, then guided us down to the lake entrance to find our designated rink. Everyone that works here is super nice, which made the experience that much more relaxing. Some of the guys even whipped out their hockey gear!
My friend brought lawn chairs for taking breaks. So smart. Even though the snow banks around each rink had melted a little, the view overall was phenomenal. Lots of friends that saw my Instagram story asked where I went ice skating, so I hope more people discover this gem at the Evergreen Lake House. Their website is very informative, so I recommend checking that out. Can't wait to explore the other activities available during the summer! -
VaVa Bloom won me over, and it wasn't even that hard! I was shopping for a friend's birthday gift but didn't have time to drive around to different places, so online ordering worked best for me. Their website is easy to navigate, and the bouquet photos are accurate.
Pick-up was smooth (though parking can be annoying in that area) and the flowers even came with some food to keep them fresh for longer! Love all the trinkets and such in the shop, making me want to come back and stay longer the next time I do a pick-up.
Absolutely love this area, the owner, and everything VaVa Bloom has to offer. Most importantly, my friend loved her arrangement! Thanks for making this an A+ experience for such a busy person, and now I'm pretty much guaranteed to come here for all my future flower and cutesy gift needs. -
4.5 stars. While waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant, my friend and I decided to have a few drinks and apps at Que Bueno Suerte. The house margaritas hit the spot, perfect for happy hour! With our chips, we had some salsa, guac, and ceviche. Loved the flavors of the ceviche "stack" and the freshness of the chips. Highly recommend all of it.
Oh, and right before we left, we managed to stuff a taco into our faces. I got the shrimp one... sooooo good! There are many other tasty-sounding options on the menu (food AND drink) so I'll definitely be back for more. Looking at their website, there's the occasional special event, i.e. $3.03 tacos on March 3rd, so check it out.
Whether you're here for brunch or drinks (or both) it seems like Que Bueno Suerte is a suitable spot for any time of day! If you plan on being a regular, consider supporting the business by buying gift cards for your future self or friends. Service is pretty good, décor is colorful and fun, and there's plenty of spacious seating. What more convincing do you need? -
4.5 stars. I've missed dining out! For my friend's 30th birthday party, there were meat-eaters and vegans alike coming together, so The Pig & The Sprout was the perfect discovery. It was easy to make reservations, street parking was available that weekday evening, and we were seated at the long table in the middle of the restaurant. Service was fantastic throughout the evening.
Booze was flowing! I'd love to come back with a friend and just hang out at the bar. So many great (and relevant) cocktails on the menu, like the Impeachment and Goodbye, Dumpster Fire. LOL. For my entrée, I ordered BBQ Mac & Cheese -- cheddar mac, pulled pork, BBQ sauce, and crispy jalapeno. Love the portion size and different textures.
We enjoyed a few hours in this lively atmosphere. Through their website and menu, they kept the public well-informed of any rules and changes, making it easy to dine in while staying safe. Especially for our health-conscious friends, The Pig & The Sprout made it easy to order so they didn't have to scour the menu for something to eat! Great experience overall!2/25/2021 -
I love this neighborhood! Because of COVID, capacity at Izakaya Den was extremely limited. I should have gotten here right when it opened, but my friend and I were meeting at a specific time. Parking can be a challenge, which is another reason to arrive early. By the time I put my name down, the wait was 1.5 hours or so.
We came back after having some tacos and margaritas at a nearby restaurant. I had somewhere else to be, so unfortunately I couldn't stay and enjoy the most amazing sushi in Denver. My friend wanted me to see the "rooftop" seating area, so we enjoyed some cocktails there and decided to save sushi for when we had an empty stomach.
I ordered a lychee margarita, which was dangerously and wonderfully strong. Service is top-notch, as expected from Izakaya Den. There's no wonder my friend mentions this as one of her favorite spots in the city. I'll rewrite this review once I can try the sushi. Definitely making time to savor the whole experience without rush next time! -
I wanted to support this local business so badly during the pandemic, but the food was just awful. I visited Zeppelin Station with my boss, and we ordered from different restaurants. I haven't had empanadas since moving to Denver, so I got one of each flavor, as well as plaintains and guava bread. Customer service was great, clearly family owned.
The plaintains and guava bread were good, and I'd order both of those again as a snack, but the empanadas were dry and flavorless. The fillings were essentially thrown into a blender and stuffed into cardboard. I couldn't tell which empanada was which, and the colors of the flavored pockets were jarring. Personally I hate wasting food, but I couldn't finish this.
I wonder if I was just there on a bad day, having read other Yelp reviews. But the benefit of being at a food hall is being able to gather the best of multiple worlds! Originally I had only ordered empanadas. Once I pulled out my credit card, the guava bread in the display case caught my eye. Then I asked for a side of plaintains since it wasn't listed on the menu. Maybe we'll see next time. -
Some of the most memorable buildings I've ever visited stand out because they have the best security staff. Zeppelin Station is one of them. My boss and I walked in for an early dinner, and we received the warmest greeting. This food hall is just one giant loop, so it's easy to make endless rounds while deciding what to order.
I settled on "La Rola Urban Colombian Food" which I reviewed separately. Because of COVID, there was no indoor seating. Not sure about outdoors, but it was quite cold, so my boss and I headed back to the office with our food. Also unsure about parking too since we walked. I guess my review isn't all that helpful, but I had a good experience here overall. -
After an hour of dancing, my friends and I were hungry, and everyone knows that one of the best cold-weather comfort foods is pho. I found Pho Lee on Yelp. There was plenty of parking in this plaza lot, and we were seated in a booth immediately after writing down our information for COVID contact tracing. Customer service was friendly.
At pho restaurants, I always scan the menu for two things: (1) anything with rare brisket and tripe and (2) Chè Ba Màu. They only had my pho bowl, so that's what I got, and there was a good proportion of noodles to meat. Overall perfect portion size... either it was smaller than average, or I was hungrier than usual.
The whole experience felt safe and clean during COVID. There weren't too many customers since it was a late lunch. Apparently they have upstairs seating to space people out anyways! Maybe next time I'll try some of their appetizers or vermicelli. It's close to our dance studio, so there's no excuse not to add this to our list of go-to spots. -
Fantastic wine shop, just catty corner to my favorite Three Dog Bakery! I was running errands before heading to a friend's for dinner. I'd picked up treats for her doggos and planned on going to a different spot to grab booze for the hoomans until Amendment XXI caught my eye.
I walked in and through the narrow aisles, careful not to knock anything over. There was a huge variety of wines, cheeses, and garnishes. I picked some options I thought looked good but will definitely ask for assistance next time when I'm not in a rush.
Service is alright here at this local business. Quick and straightforward. I like that it's close to where I live, but parking can be a challenge. Seems to get mixed reviews on Yelp. It's no large liquor store like Argonaut, but you'll definitely walk out of Amendment XXI happy with a few bottles of wine. -
4.5 stars. I was pleasantly surprised by this place! I met a friend for dinner (notably on inauguration night) and we were seated immediately at a high top near one of the large TVs. Bertha's has an old diner or catering club feel, filled with regular customers likely accumulated over the years.
Their menu is comprehensive, filled with plenty of options for everyone. I started with fried pickles (can never resist) and got prime rib for my entrée. The pickles were good, though they were FRESH out of the fryer, which burned my mouth. Whatever sauce was an excellent addition.
The prime rib was cooked PERFECTLY, and both mashed potatoes and grilled veggies were terrific sides. Usually I write in my review that I can't wait to try more things on the menu, but this was so good that I'm ordering it again on my next visit. Paired with more dirty martinis, of course.
