We've been here twice now, and it's been a great experience both times. While at a glance, you might think it's "just another chicken place", this fast food chain adds the personal touch. Rather than talking to a box, you give your order to a person through window, you then pull through to a second window to pick up your order. It's an interesting twist in a society and industry that has gotten less and less personal.
The menu is relatively straightforward. A few chicken sandwiches, a couple of size options for the quantity of chicken tenders you want, and some salads. I've got a few options for sides beyond the standard fried potatoes, and they've got a solid selection of milkshakes. Compared to other local chicken chains, they're a lot more heavy-handed with the seasoning, and I don't mean that in a bad way. -
I stopped in today for a cardiac calcium scoring with an appointment. Everybody from the front desk staff to the technicians were fantastic to deal with. I had a relatively short wait, which was no problem at all. If his oldies are obviously brand new, super clean, and state-of-the-art. They take all necessary measures for transmission prevention do the coronavirus. It was very comfortable here the whole time. Jennifer was my CT technician, she was fantastic. If you need imaging done, I highly recommend this center.

This is my favorite place in town to get a haircut, hands down. If you have hair from the neck up, they can take care of it! Haha. I've been going here for well over a year now, probably much longer than that.
For those who have never been to Floyd's, it is music culture meets Barber shop. The walls are lined with wallpaper made out of cover albums and music magazine covers across the ages of music. If you have a genre of music, you can probably find an artist that you recognize or like on the walls.
There are always a bunch of barbers and stylists on hand. Men, women, and children, they take them all. If you're like me and have more hair on your chin than on your head, you're in luck... They have people who are specifically trained in beard cutting and grooming. Bushy eyebrows? They've got that. Hair in strange places on your ears? Not a problem. Looking like Wolfman had a love child with Bigfoot? They can help you from the neck up. (Seriously, go to a waxing place for the rest of that nonsense.)
The website is fully functional and allows you to schedule appointments ahead of time. It's really simple to look ahead see what's available and match it to your schedule. I do this practically every time now because it's so simple, and they have never once missed an appointment that way.
In short, I love this place and you should too. Hit them up and send them some love. -
Bao's Castle is a brand new fast-casual restaurant that in the SoDo shopping plaza. It's owned by the same people as the SoDo Sushi Bar & Grill in the same plaza (one of our other local favorites!). We were fortunate to get invited for the friends and family soft opening several weeks back, but I won't discuss that here since it wasn't a typical dining experience.
For my first 'real' trip, I ordered the pork belly appetizer, a short rib bao, and the pork belly bao. To finish off, we ordered some churros (1 Nutella, 1 guava and cream cheese). All were very good and made fresh to order. Stacy has also had the panko shrimp bao (her current favorite dish), and the crab bao.
For our second 'real' trip (today), I got the pork belly appetizer again (my favorite item on the menu!) and a rice bowl. We also got the guava churros again, because they're delicious. Since we were there for Mother's Day, Stacy got a complimentary glass of wine and bao (panko shrimp), and ordered another pork belly bao to go with it. They also made an order of chicken fingers with a side of fries and white rice for Olivia. As before, the food was hot and fresh and service was attentive and friendly.
Counting the special soft opening event, we've been here 3 times now, and the food and service has been consistently good. Bao's Castle is quickly becoming one of my favorite local places in town!5/11/2020 -
At this point, I should no longer be surprised at the rudeness of JoAnn employees--especially at the fabric counter.
We stopped by this location on a whim while we were out driving around Kissimmee area. Despite the pandemic and mask requirement (due to local ordinance), the store was packed. They likely hadn't been open long, as everything was still mostly in stock. The customers' general mood seemed upbeat on the whole, and the fabric line was around 20 people deep.
We finally made it to the front of the line, and were waved forward by a thin older lady with short white hair. No greeting, no questions about what we wanted. I put the bolts on the table, and she shoved them back to the edge of the counter. After the fabrics we cut, we got a terse "Anything else?", and that was pretty much the end of the interaction, other than a barked order to step back from the counter.
The rest of the store was fine. I wish I could say this was an isolated experience, but we've had a similar experience at several local JoAnn stores over the past several weeks (my wife is making masks). Most of the employees are fine, but watch out for the fabric counters. -
Office of: Truc Tran DO; Scott Marsel MD; Dawn Leggon NP, Sheena Harris PA
I have been using this office for several years now. I always get great service, and for the most part, the wait usually isn't very long. I live about 30 minutes away, so it was definitely more convenient to go here when I worked nearby, however I like my providers (Dawn and Dr. Tran) so much that I still continue to make the commute, even 3 years later.
Things to know:
- They are located inside the medical office building attached to Health Central Hospital.
- The parking lot is a real pain to get in and out of, because it's usually pretty busy. Expect to park farther away and walk.
- If they order any diagnostic tests or labs for you, Health Central has an outpatient testing facility where you can get it done right there in the same location. -
I've been to this location a couple of times now, once to actually practice yoga and the others dropping off my wife so she could while I was on baby duty.
The owner and staff here are incredibly friendly. It's a great studio, decent size, very well kept. They have their own private parking lot, which is convenient.
The instructor the time that I went was awesome. She is very professional, very calming, and takes the time to help everybody do things correctly. She also offers alternative options/positions for people who can't do the more advanced techniques.
I would really like to go back to this location to practice, but it's pretty far from where we live to go regularly. If they open up a studio closer to Orlando proper Sunday, it's definitely a place that we would go to regularly. -
So for any of you that have been following my reviews, you will note that I absolutely loathed my previous dry cleaner. Recently I noticed that there is one close to where I live, and that's conveniently on my way to work. I decided to give them a try because they couldn't possibly be worse than my current dry cleaner, right?
So I stopped in. Per usual, I had my lab coats from work that needed to be cleaned and pressed. Almost immediately after coming in I was acknowledged and greeted pleasantly. The lady was very friendly, and apparently is the preferred dry cleaner for my clinic job, even offering a pickup and delivery service if I were stationed at the local office. (We are a very large practice with locations across central Florida.)
The intake process was quick and efficient. Even though I was brand new to the location, all she needed was a name and a phone number. I was in and out in under 5 minutes, including chatting time. I dropped them off on a Friday morning, and since there was no rush pickup was scheduled for the following Tuesday afternoon. They do have rush service available if it's needed though.
My order was ready on time, and perfectly cleaned and pressed. Pick up was just as smooth as the drop-off was. Needless to say, I'm very happy with the experience and will continue coming back to this location. -
The name tells you everything you need to know: chocolate pastries, and custom lattes. This place is walking distance from St. George Street in St Augustine, and we visited it during our anniversary trip this past March.
They have indoor and outdoor seating, a warm welcoming design, and free Wi-Fi. From what I understand, they work with other local businesses to get the ingredients to make their desserts. They have a lot of muffins and a large variety desserts, and I believe they had scones when we were there as well. They have some hot breakfast sandwiches, waffles, and pancakes on the menu. I tried one of the breakfast sandwiches, and it was very tasty. They offer a lunch menu as well, which I hope to check out on one of our future visits to St Augustine.
On the beverage side of things, they have beers and wines, as well as several hot and cold varieties of coffee drinks made to order. My wife had the cafe mocha, and I had the Cafe Con leche. Both were very good. -
I know this place both as a community affiliate through the University I work with, but also as a patient. Dr. Pfaff and team have taken our physician assistant students for years now, and they are great to work with. They have an awesome patient population, and they seem to be really loved by their patients. Our students really enjoy going to them as well also as they learn the art of medicine.
As a patient, I started a couple weeks ago going to their chiropractic care center. I've been told for years that I should go to a chiropractor, but never did until recently, and I'm glad I did. When you go for the first time, you'll get an initial medical evaluation to clear you for their chiropractic care. This is a very brief medical history and physical exam, though I suppos depending on how complex your medical history is it might be a little more involved.
From there, you go to the chiropractic area for an official chiropractic evaluation. They have multiple providers, I personally see Dr. Tanner--awesome guy with a great sense of humor, and we share a lot of nerdy interests, hahaha. After you chiropractic sessions, put you on a TENS unit, as well as either ice or heat pack depending on what you need. They offer massage as a part of the therapy, though so far I've only been during quarantine when massage services are not allowed. I'm looking forward to when I can give those a try.
They have their own private parking lot, so getting in and out is pretty easy. The chiropractic services are all located on the second floor, and the elevator is immediately on your left as soon as you walk in the front door. Volumes are probably down because of the quarantine, but I have not yet had to wait at all past my appointment time, and have typically been taken back even before the appointment time on most visits.
Overall it's been a great experience.
