    • Hair Salons

      South Lake Tahoe, CA

      Aug 16, 2023

I just got possibly the most-beautiful highlights of my life, plus my hair feels really smooth and healthy--better than it did when I went in-- so I wanted to get on here and share my joy while it's still fresh in the mind.

I am SO pleased and moved by the professionalism, good communication, and expertise of the owner, Kelly, who stayed late after a long day of back-to-back clients to help me solve some stripey unnatural color that I had recently got that just wasn't right. I could feel she'd do anything to make sure I didn't walk out of the salon less than thrilled. Kelly really knows her stuff and truly stands with integrity by all of her stylist's and the salon's work. I've found their prices to be reasonable for Tahoe, and the ambience is always friendly when I pop in for a visit (which I can't say for every salon or stylist I've sussed out since moving here!) I'm thrilled I found someone I can trust with my hair in Tahoe. Thanks again Kelly and Sessions salon!

not the best lighting in here late at night but a visual nonetheless!

Anyone who knows me at all has had the unfortunately good misfortune of having been regaled with tales of my trials & tribulations when it comes to dentistry. Since the age of 8 or so. I know my crowns, my root canals, my non-mercury-containing ceramic fillings, my porcelain inlays. Been there, done that. Done ALL OF IT----and then some. When you've already taken out a loan to have your front teeth add-ons re-done from the best of the best, but really just weren't that comfortable with your look and so instead of smiling you felt embarrassed by how bright white and unnatural your teeth looked?? [she's picky: 'tis true]. Well, if, as in my case, you decide to take the plunge & do your smile ALL OVER AGAIN and come back happy, but not even that---more than happy? As in: I will never allow anyone BUT an Armenian sculptor / ceramic artist design my crowns or allow anyone but Dr. Day & his lovely associates touch my mouth again and yes I will literally fly from NYC to Utah in order to get my work done from now on... well.... such things apply here to my {family by now} friends at Oral Design Utah. They know their stuff. They will work with you in terms of payment and they truly care about their patients' health in every sense, and will try to please in every way possible. The "reason I can smile so big" (alluding to a song of that name by local hip-hop artist Burnell Washburn & coincidentally also my nephew) without shame, worried about how bright chiclet white my fake teeth looked in the black light of clubs during pre-pandemic times when their were still clubs where people danced---DESPITE all I've been through and put myself through in the last few years--is all thanks to Oral Design Utah. Y'all know I love ya. A million thanks. (See you next week for that cementing!... I've just got this food trap issue at the moment tho...) ;)

right outside Glacier National Park earlier this year (sadly, was closed). Note: smile.

It is a mystery to me why I've waited so long to praise ISHTA yoga in writing when I do in conversations with friends and acquaintances all the time, sharing what an effect the studio, teachers, and ethos have had on my life.

I've been practicing yoga more or less regularly, with a few breaks in between, going on 15 years, and have attended many studios in the city. I always return to ISHTA. I feel different at the end of an ISHTA class from what I feel at the end of others. Don't get me wrong, I always feel *good* at the end of any yoga class, but there's something about the spirituality, the words the teachers share that is never routine, always inspired, that feels that one extra step beyond, deeper, so that I am continually reminded that this is a practice for my whole being, not just a physical practice.

I love ISHTA's emphasis on our always listening to our selves first. It is encouraged to not do every pose the teacher calls out always, to modify-- such is the essence of yoga: that we use it as a tool to connect to our selves and our particular needs at any given moment, not to look like our dancer neighbor in full wheel, no "competitive" gym yoga, or practices where you feel pressured to keep up, sweat, get a "workout" when you're told "good job!" if your pose looks the way you feel it "should." I'd feel totally comfortable putting my mat up against the wall and my legs up all class if I felt that's all I could do, or child's pose (I have never wanted to, but just as an example). If you want to move and want some heat one day, and want more yin another day, you are greatly encouraged to follow your heart. After all: isn't that the essence of yoga? To learn to listen to and connect to your own individual breath, your own body's particular needs on any given day.

Puy Navarro's classes feel like half church, half three-months-worth-of-therapy-in-an-hour: they are yummy, she is such a warm spirit, always shares so much inspiring wisdom. I've never left her classes unchanged.

I could vouch for any ISHTA-trained teacher they choose to affiliate themselves with, but co-founder Sarah Finger, of course, is my biggest, continual inspiration. She truly is a marvel: kind, graceful, and also seems to read intuitively what each class and student needs any given day. Yes, it is never the teacher but the teachings that they're able to convey and that flow through them that is most important. That said, her light, dedication and wisdom illuminates the entire energy of the ISHTA community. There is a reason Deepak Chopra chose her as his private instructor! =) . Things she has said during class are forever burned in my brain, as is her palpable love for every student who comes to practice and her desire to affect global change, one individual at a time.

ISHTA recently downsized from having two studios to the one near Union Square. It's tough to run a yoga studio in the city and I commend them for making the choices they needed to in order to continue their unique, non-corporate vibe. What can I say? I hope to train with ISHTA this year, not necessarily to become a teacher but simply to deepen my practice and understanding. Come to a class! You won't regret it.

Dr. Amy Rose is such a wonderful doctor. She has a great bedside manner, always takes the time to listen and explain things, is super smart and personable, and has been spot-on with approaches and diagnoses every time, and has always chosen the most pain-free and smartest approach. I can't recommend her and this practice enough, and I haven't had problems scheduling appointments.

Eileen is a natural-born clairvoyant and psychic medium who also happens to do energy healing work to boot. I enjoyed my reiki session with her very much and during my session she also gave me accurate readings on things in my life and future events. I have also attended a seance in which she gave me relevant and accurate messages. When I first met Eileen, I was struck by the light that seemed to be exuding from her face -- she is a on a high frequency and can't help but be a healer. I know Eileen has faced trauma personally and come out strong on the other side, which helps her connect with clients who have also suffered trauma, great or small. Although I don't know too many specifics, I do know she has traveled and/or lived many places across the globe and thus has an understanding and appreciation of other cultures, meaning, her perspective is not limited in the least. She will give you a tailored experience depending on your needs, and she will give you her all. She is a leader blessed with wisdom and confidence, but also very approachable at the same time. She likes to have a good time and appreciates the good things in life, which is an aspect of healing or working towards wholeness that I think is often overlooked. Why not book an appointment and see for yourself? You won't regret it!
