Well first of all the owner of the shop (and the entire center evidently) is someone who was at the insurrection on January 6 a few years ago.

I know this is political, but she is someone who has benefitted and celebrated political differences including taking legal action against things she disagrees with politically. So I think she is a fair target for this.

I have no problem with political differences. I have a problem with supporting overturning a fair election. Just ensure you know who you're dealing with, and if you still want to go, enjoy. But I'm out in spite of supporting the previous coffee shops in the center (Summit/etc).

Good funky tacos. Just go. Their broccoli and asparagus tacos just rocked. Great sauces, good salsa.

Saw the alt-J and Portugal the man show last night. The sound was the most bass heavy and distorted mess I have ever ever heard at a live show. Tried both the main floor and the balconies. No escape from the distorted mess. Portugal was completely obliterated by the distorted low end, guitar and vocals only peering out when the bass player stopped for a bar or two. I have some experience doing live sound (not at this level though).

I do rarely go to big shows these days, as I will usually just go to smaller shows. Is the venue always like this? Or did I just get very unlucky?

On president's day weekend I had a faucet start leaking badly. We reached out to a company we found a good yelp review, and Rooter Hero responded a short time later.. NOT the actual company we reached out to. OK.. I guess these guys are the after-hours crew.

They come to my house and give me an estimate just shy of $1k. Um. OK. What does that include? No itemization. They didn't even really look at the faucet to see if it was fixable before providing this estimate. The estimate itself is completely without itemization.

My wife pushes back and they immediately reduce it to around $700. Still no itemization. Still not a lot of real time spent looking into the actual problem.

We say hell no, obviously. This is very predatory.

I ended up waiting until after the three-day holiday. Brought in a different company, and $200 worth of faucet tightening (and showing us how to do it) he was on his way, all the time apologizing as it was their minimum service fee.

So.. AVOID these people.
