This was my first time hiring movers to move my belongings, and I'm glad I did it. Can't believe I've been doing this by myself for years. Jeremy's team (him, Ivan and Lloyd) were awesome, friendly and helpful in ensuring my furniture wouldn't get damaged. I felt silly moving a lot of random small things like the hoarder I am, but they were cool about it.
One of my all-time favorite breakfast/brunch spots in San Jose. I lived down the street so it was easy to swing by to grab a cute latte.
The latte art is lovely, and the various hot drinks they have are tasty and delicious too! I like to pair my drinks with one of their tasty breakfast sandwiches.
Outside seating is wonderful, and lots of folks bring their dogs too.
Shady. You shouldn't have a menu with prices, then when you bring the bill, you say, "Oh, the price went up." No, you should be properly reflecting your prices in the menus you offer your customers.
I only come here because it's the only place open somewhat late and takes credit/debit cards. Dishonest pricing is enough to make me not want to come back.
The food here is great, but their service can definitely use some work.
I walked in to order food at 9pm, and the woman tells me I can only have the food to go because they close at 9:30pm. However, 10 minutes after I placed my to go order, a couple came in, spoke to the woman in Chinese, and then she let them stay to eat. A couple of minutes after them, a Caucasian couple came in and she told them the same thing she told me: only food to go.
Pro tip: if eating late, come here with a Chinese-speaking friend.
I think I'll be sticking to Shanghai Dumpling King. Their staff is so much more friendly.
I don't Yelp often because I honestly don't have the time to, but I felt the need to write a review this morning.
Back in 2013 when I lived in the area, I came here a lot to do some work and have a quick coffee. Today was my first time back. Ordered a coffee and a bagel to eat in while I worked.
While furiously trying to connect to their wifi (theirs is down for some reason), I noticed 20 minutes he passed, and I still had my number at my table since they didn't bring my food yet. I look around and realize a lot of ppl are sitting and eating who weren't there when I first ordered.
I walk up to the counter and ask the cashier (young Russian girl, I think) why my food was still not ready after 20 minutes, and then she gives me that, "What are you talking about?" look. I show her the number I'm holding and tell her I still don't have my bagel.
She then tells me to have a seat and it'll be ready in two minutes. She proceeds to bring me TWO poppy seed bagels filled with cream cheese and NONE of the toppings I ordered along with it (I ordered a plain bagel with cream cheese, cucumber, tomato, sprouts), but both plates came with one skinny strip of tomato and cucumber. Sorry, but one little strip is not worth 50 cents.
I bring both back to her and tell her that I paid for each of the toppings I requested, and told her I didn't want that extra bagel. She takes my bagel to the lady in the back and instead of slicing the cucumbers/tomatoes thin, she sliced them thick like what you put in sandwiches. Also, still no sprouts!
I feel pretty ripped off, especially since they nickel and dime you for every little addition to your bagel (they don't have bagel specials for a flat cost). If you're going to charge ppl for extras, then PROVIDE the extras. Geez.
Not once did she apologize for all of this. Had she been more apologetic, I would've been a bit more understanding. I mean, everyone has a case of the Mondays. But her lack of concern was very evident.
You had ONE job. It's a simple bagel request.
I miss the young half-Filipino girl that worked here. She was always so sweet and professional.
Can you PLEASE clear your voicemail inbox so I can leave a message? I've been calling since last week, and I also sent two emails regarding me needing an appointment.
Your hours claim being open from 8-5 M-F yet no one seems to be available to take calls or respond to emails.
Good lord, what a SLOW-serving AT&T!
It's January 3, 2014. I've been sitting here for almost 45 minutes (and I know this because that's how long I've been checked in).
There are 7 AT&T representatives here, but only 4 of them are actually assisting customers. The other 3 are acting as greeters queueing people in line.
All I came in for was a replacement SIM card (since I have a micro-SIM currently for my iPhone 5, but I need to temporarily use an iPhone 4s, which uses the regular SIM).
The others being helped ahead of me seem to have lengthy issues involving their phones and how they operate.
When I finally did get assistance, I was out of there within 5 minutes. If AT&T had just asked me what it was that I needed assistance with, they could've had someone help me and had me out of there much faster instead of waiting behind people with lengthy questions and operational inquiries.
I'm so happy to see that one of my favorite restaurants while living in Bamberg is here on Yelp!
My first time here (1998, I believe?), I arrived with my theater group from the nearby Army base in Bamberg. They always liked grabbing a nice bite to eat after a weekend performance, and so one day, they brought me here.
I was 17 at the time and did not know too much about different restaurants in our area, but luckily, we had a lot of German members of our group, and they always showed us some great and tasty places!
Blaue-Grotte (I've always known it as Blue Grotto in English) is this cute little restaurant located in the small town of Stegaurach. When you first enter, the place DOES resemble a grotto (think of that attraction in Disneyland - Ariel's Grotto). It's a dark, cavernous-looking kind of space with tables all along the walls and a random disco-dance floor in the middle. If you have a larger group, they'll take you towards the back room where it looks like a more traditional restaurant with lots of windows and bright light.
The food at this restaurant is absolutely amazing. It's the kind of food that I wish I could show a lot of my friends here in California. I bring friends to German restaurants in the Bay Area all the time, but I still think back to the days of when I'd eat at Blaue Grotte. I still compare everything that I eat in America to the delicious meals I had here.
The dishes I ordered often were their variety of schnitzels (regular wiener schnitzel, zweibeltreter schnitzel and jagerschnitzel). My favorite of the three I mentioned is the zweibeltreter schnitzel, which was fried like a regular wiener schnitzel and then topped off with melted cheese, onions and some peppers. It was amazing! Every time I look at a German menu, I always try to find it, but I think this may be a Bavarian specialty that is not common in all German restaurants.
If you're ever in and or around Bamberg, you should try coming to this place. It's a nice drive out of the city (I think it's around a 20-minute drive). You'll have a nice drive with a view and you'll get some delicious food!
Dangerous! I now have yet another watering hole near work where I can go to enjoy beer!
A friend and I stumbled in here one rainy evening after reading the EaterSF article about the top new joints in the city. Even though we already ate at AQ beforehand, we thought we'd come and have some drinks.
When I go to places like this, I always try and make sure I drink the beer made by that establishment. The first drink I ordered was a Mikkeller Double Eye PA... 14% ABV! That was a lot stronger than I anticipated, but definitely loved the flavoring of it. I'm also a sucker for IPAs.
Next drink I got when I came here with a coworker was their Beer Geek Brunch Weasel stout. Something I would definitely order again.
Next, our bartender said that if we liked stout-y drinks, he had a recommendation for us... The Gudeløs, which he said the literal translation meant "without God" (and $1 from every bottle sold of this beer goes to the Athiest society of Denmark or so... I can't remember specifically!). I wanted to try the beer but did not support where the $1 was going... :P This stout beer definitely went down very smoothly! I wouldn't order it regularly (one bottle cost maybe $20ish?), but it's worth trying.
Also, if you're into very hipster San Francisco locales, you'll love this place. Everyone was pretty friendly though, and they all looked like start-up workers.
I definitely want to come by sometime to try the sausages!
Honestly, I regret having come in and making an appointment using the Groupon I purchased. I may as well have missed my appointment than having taken the time to get here.
The very first thing I encountered after receiving my Groupon was noticing how many disclaimers you have to check off before you can even proceed to the actual site! I've made appointments for many spa services before, and I've never gone to this extent. When you read THAT many disclaimers on a site, it makes you wonder how the service will be (since they want to BE SURE you understand that they're not liable for anything, basically).
After so many tries, I finally got an appointment made. I went there and met my aesthetician, and all I could remember is that she was super chatty and kept apologizing. Normally when I go in for spa/beauty treatments, I want to lay there in peace (that's why they play the soft music in the background, right?). But nooooo, she kept chit chatting with me as I gave one word responses. I found that to be very unprofessional, especially with all the apologizing. It's okay if the customer is the one being chatty, but if I'm laying there wanting peace and quiet, please give me that.
The groupon I paid for was half for a peel. Guess what? I didn't get a peel! I know what peels feel like and I did not get one. I didn't say anything during my procedure because I figured that maybe they forgot and could do it some other day. When I mentioned it to her, she told me that she did give me a peel at the end, but it was not very strong. Sheeeesh, I should've just done it at home!
Seriously, I should've just let my groupon expire and not go. Would've been worth saving my time and bus fare.
