    • Car Rental

      Westchester, Los Angeles

      Mar 21, 2024

When we got to the counter we were informed the car we reserved was not in stock. They then attempted to charge us extra to get a larger car. After a short discussion we were given a different car at the price we reserved. Once we were on our way to Anaheim (from LAX), a message came on telling us to take the car to the dealer for a "system malfunction." By that time we were pretty far (in LA traffic) so I decided to call Midway in the morning.

In the meantime, the error message ended up having something to do with the front sensors and brake assistance. The car would abruptly brake while trying to park in most parking spots. It also seemed to have the left and right sensors crossed (according to the diagram that popped up on the screen).

I called the next morning and spoke to Deja. She was unbelievably rude and unaccommodating. In short, her solution was for us to make the 2 hour round trip to swap cars or for us to be liable for the error message. She also insisted there was no manager on duty. I ended up calling another branch (Santa Ana, I think) and spoke with a much more helpful person who agreed with how unreasonable Deja's request was. He made notes on our account and the rest of the experience went fairly smoothly (aside from the parking issues).

I'd probably pay a bit more and go with a more familiar rental company in the future.

I've had a number of issues with these guys. A few years ago they quoted me a lease price for a Volt. I double checked with the salesperson and got a ride to the dealership to get the car. Once I got there, they told me it was going to be higher. A manager got involved and told me the same thing. They made no attempt to rectify the situation or offer any kind of alternate offer (though that probably would've been illegal). I contacted GM corporate and they took care of me by matching the original price quoted and had Dublin Chevrolet handle the transaction.

Fast forward a year or two and I gave Winter another shot and had some service work done (they are the closest dealer to me). That one went off without a hitch. Because of that, I gave them another shot when my lease was up. The salesperson was nice, but not very informed and not even remotely close to prices other dealers offered. In fact, the only other dealer that offered as bad of a price was Tracy Chevy. I ended up buying my Bolt from the dealer in Vallejo.

The Bolt holds the title for the most recalled car I've owned. That's not on Winter and I understand things happen with cars with lots of new tech. However, my previously good experience with Winter's service department turned out to be an isolated incident. Without diving into 18 months of recalls with a variety of patches, vehicle limitations, and replacements, I had many encounters with Winter's service department. From the phones to the advisors to the managers, I dealt with a series of people who were unaware with a very widely publicized battery issue with the Bolt and unwilling to be bothered to listen and/or research in a timely manner. Calls were frequently not returned and timetables were often not met when work was performed. It got so bad on my last visit, that the guy from the parts department got involved and helped me out. On the other hand, I was being contacted by GM corporate customer reps on a weekly basis throughout the entire ordeal.

I'm about 10-15 minutes away from Winter, and about 35-40 minutes away from Dublin, so logistically it's inconvenient not to be able to deal with my local dealer. Recently I got another recall notice for my Bolt. I tried calling Winter three different times today without one person that would pick up the phone. I called Dublin and quickly got an appointment scheduled for next week.

I wish we had a better option in East County, but we don't. Unfortunately, I recommend driving a little further to have your GM needs addressed.

This place was a really great find. We don't have a lot of good Italian restaurants (in my opinion) in the out east bay. This will be my new go-to!

I was ready to get a pasta dish before walking in, but somehow ended up ordering a sandwich. It was incredible. The prices may be a little higher than what you'd pay at other Italian restaurants in the area, but it's completely worth it.

If you like great food served in a friendly and comfortable setting, stop scrolling a try this place out. Alexi will take care of you!

We originally went with West Coast Solar back in 2015, but had since added an electric vehicle and were getting hit with decent sized PG&E overages every year. Our experience with WCS was almost entirely positive. However, we were referred by a friend there and they had to contact the company multiple times to get their referral bonus. We had the same experience when we referred two different friends to them. I'm always bothered when companies are quick to respond to incoming money, but less so with outgoing.

We decided to upgrade our array, but had to also get a larger inverter. We went back to the WCS, but were quoted a really high price to add to the system. We decided to call around and found United Solar Electric. They not only came in much cheaper, but they had some awesome ideas about inverters with car chargers and non-battery backup plans for blackouts. The installation was quick and thorough, and each representative from sales to administrative to installers have been courteous and thorough. Additionally, I've been contacted by them at least three times since the install to verify that I am still pleased with the system. I will suggesting USE to any friends or family members looking to go solar in the future. These guys are awesome!

Car shopping during this time is a unique experience, but Team Chevrolet made it really easy. My lease on my Volt was expiring and I wanted a new Bolt. I reached out to all of the dealers in the area (from San Leandro to Tracy to Vallejo) and let them know what I was looking for. Most of the dealers were responsive, and three of them offered very competitive lease terms. However, Cory stood out in his customer service skills and made the new lease a cinch. There was no pressure and no being handed up the ladder to be closed by the new car manager or general sales manager. Every step of the process was simple and hassle free. If you have the chance to be picky, hold out and try to work with Cory.

Oh yeah, and the car is awesome, too!
