my sisters and i went here for brunch, and it was wonderful! i tried the burrata shakshuka - really, really good! a little spicy, but i'm a wimp :) my sisters ordered traditional breakfasts and enjoyed them. breakfast staples have always been yummy at silver diner, and they give you HUGE portions! we split a brownie sundae - also yummy, tho it would be even yummier if the brownie was served warm. the staff was very nice and helpful, particularly our waiter, miles - a very charming, pleasant young man. we will definitely return and ask to sit in his section!
dr prince is a cool guy! he was very nice and explained everything in detail, which i appreciated bc i don't know much about anything eye-related i like big frames, but the store didn't have much of a selection on site, so i will likely go elsewhere to get my glasses (not their fault that i have a giant head!) this whole process is a little pricy even with insurance, but that's nothing new.
my grandma, who is in the end stages of alzheimer's, was discharged from the hospital yesterday, back to her nursing home. the NH does not provide hospice services, so we were referred to vitas to provide hospice care to my grandma in her NH. someone from vitas was supposed to come to the NH last night - no one showed up, and no one called, nor did they return several calls from my relatives and i. by 3 pm today, vitas STILL had not come to the NH to see my grandma, nor had they contacted the NH/my family. my grandma is literally bedbound and cannot care for herself at all, so for the last 24 hours, my mom has had to stay at the NH to watch over her. thanks for nothing, vitas! it is worth mentioning that i have worked in healthcare in northern VA for almost two decades, and i have heard multiple, very similar horror stories regarding what a shit company vitas is. i will be informing the other families, whose loved ones are in the NH, about our experience with vitas so that they know to steer clear when their loved one needs end of life care.
the food is good, but the service sucks. i prepaid for food online, and when i picked it up i wanted to add a drink to my order, but they refused bc i didn't have any cash to pay with. they also neglected to put my sauce and any silverware in my bag. they were pissy with me about all of this. i probably won't return
this starbucks is a mess. i work in the building, and i was in there from 9:50-10:10 waiting for a simple latte - that's completely ridiculous. there was ONE customer other than myself! they must have filled about 20 mobile orders (for customers who were not in the store) before they bothered to make mine. why wouldn't you first make the drink of the person standing in front of you? i will not be returning - there's a bakery in the building with much better prices, quality, selection, and customer service
