Bossam is one of my comfort dishes and Pocha does such an amazing take on it with its marinade that this particular Bossam might become part of my comfort meal rotations!
Was looking for a late night eat (past 9pm) and saw that Pocha was open! Located in a quiet strip mall area and was the only thing lit up in this plaza at this time.
Service was great, everything came out quickly and we could tell this was family ran. Our server was so kind and when we asked for lemons for our soju fresh she wasn't sure if the kitchen could do it, but was so excited when they could and gave us extra!
We got the perfect meal for two of kimchi jigae, bossam and fried chicken. All were delicious! I LOVED the bossam so much! Fried chicken sauce was amazing, I just wish it were crispier. Kimchi jigae just always hits the spots and is one of those cure all soups.
Highly recommend for their take on bossam and good late night meal.

Hi, Julian, we appreciate your visit to Pocha Eats! It's wonderful to hear you had a fantastic dining experience while discovering us late night in Cerritos. Our goal is to provide delicious food in a family friendly environment into the later hours. We eagerly await the opportunity to serve you again and offer quality Korean eats.
Great Yelp event and the perfect way to try a newly opened restaurant at the Long Beach Town Center.
The Stand has prime real estate with it being on of the first businesses you see when driving into LBTC. Tons of seating inside and outside, outdoor seating has heat lamps so perfect all year round.
Super clean and bright on the inside, sleek modern decor. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich, onion rings, and got the watermelon mint agua fresca. The chicken was chargrilled dipped in sauce with crispy stand chips added for that crunch. Different than what I was expecting and delicious, definitely has a kick. 10/10 would recommend the agua fresca, onion rings and the sauces!
The restaurant was busy the whole hour and a half we were there, so so busy the line was minimally 6 people deep every time we looked over. Our meal also took a little longer because they forgot my partners food (steak salad and fries) but were so nice about it and was able to give us refills on beers without getting back in line!
Thank you Evan for putting together a great first kickoff event Long Beach where it brought everyone together to support a new business in the rebuilding LBTC :) Would definitely come to The Stand before heading into the movies!
After my 5th visit to Selva, I can safely say that this restaurant is IN THE ROTATION! Delicious, consistent, has the vibes, love it.
Heavy hitters:
The sauces that come on the side - my fav being the chimichurri. I always ask for more.
- Mushroom Croquettes - a perfect little bite of sweet, spicy, truffle-y, savory. Note: it really is a tiny little bite
- Peruvian Scallop Crudo - Refreshing, tangy and a burst of flavor.
- Pork Belly Chicharron - Perfectly cooked, crispy but also melts in your mouth?
- Arroz Chaufa - I wasn't expecting too much from a fried rice, but this fried rice is IT. So much flavor packed into this dish.
- Sweet Plantains - I get this every single time and could also be part dessert and you get so much of it. I just really love plantains.
- Ceviche (specifically the daily special salmon ceviche) that comes with plantain chips - The best sharing appetizer. The plantain chips (which you can also order as a side) are the perfect vehicle for the ceviche.
Everything else: ALL have been wonderful. There hasn't been a dish here that I haven't liked, especially since all the dishes have so much flavor. There is also a daily specials menu (protein or type of ceviche) that is great. Cocktails are all excellent here. My favorites being the la frambuesa and pisco mel. They pair well with all of the food and feel like a vacation.
Service here is 10000/10. Everyone is wonderful and knowledgeable. It is a decently sized restaurant (for Long Beach), we have sat at the bar, in the bar area, and the main dining area. I do recommend a reservation 'cause it can get busy on the weekends, week days are easy for walk ins. There is a small parking lot on the side/back if not it's street parking and we have always been able to find some with a little bit of patience.
Highly recommend for anyone who wants to try Columbian food.
Dark, vibey speakeasy in the Arts District.
Interior beyond the black velvet curtain is cozy, intimate and lit up only by candles with dim lighting. We were seated at a comfy circular booth that gave a lot of privacy between parties. Came around 8PM on a weekday and was able to get seated quickly without a reservation for 4. There is ALWAYS a line during the weekend. Leaving around 10PM, the bar was definitely more packed and lively.
Drink menu is seasonal and everything we got except for one drink was phenomenal. Drink price points range from $19 - $29. Some more worth it than others, our server was great at explaining the flavors of each drink since some ingredients were unfamiliar. Snacks I recommend getting to pair with your drinks are the lamb meatballs and crispy potatoes which were both phenomenal. Everything else was good too, but these stood out.
Side note: even the bathrooms are dimly lit by candlelight. Specifically, one singular candle in the a stall.
Come for the ambiance, luxurious cocktails, and a fun experience.
Hidden gem for omakase.. maybe not so hidden since mentioned in the Michelin Guide.
Located in a very quiet plaza with plenty of parking, most people (like me) wouldn't even notice the plaza. The restaurant is very small with up to 10 bar sets and maybe 3 smaller tables. Make sure to reserve well in advance for the bar, I have had to reserve 2 weeks in advance as well as reserve a two months in advance if I know for sure I am coming.
Chef Ben and Ayako really make this place feel so welcoming and very, very focused on your eating experience. The restaurant is really run by them both (with an occasional other server) so everything definitely comes out leisurely, a perfect spot for lots of conversation and probably not time-sensitive plans afterwards.
I love the omakase sets and the flavor pairings with the fish. All the fish is fresh and sourced from all over the world. Chef Bens really explores new flavors that just work (my partner has a note on his phone with all the different flavor pairings cause I loved them so much). Some are stronger than others, so if you're not into stronger flavors with your omakase this place may not be the preferred spot. Favorite appetizers: sesame tofu with uni and simmered beef tongue. Both soft and melt in your mouth in different ways.
Pro-tip: bring cash to avoid the 3% card fee.
100/10 recommend Taira. I LOVE the ambiance, both Ben & Ayako and always have the best omakase experience.
