Hubby and I stopped in here for lunch after exploring Whatcom Park. We each grabbed a brew. I had the Disco lemonade with a side shooter. I really really liked it. Hubby thought it a bit too tart but I enjoyed!

For lunch we shared an order of the karaage - Japanese fried chicken. This was okay but we have had better at other restaurants (mainly Japanese ones). I had the chicken katsu sando with a side of tomato soup. The sandwich was quite tasty but just a bit overly crunchy for me. It was a nice version of tomato soup. Hubby had the southwest bowl which he enjoyed but said there was a lot of rice. To be fair he could have asked for half rice and half greens. I think he would do that in the future.

Our server was great and we loved the chillaxed vibe of the place.

      Disco lemonade with sidecar.

The innkeepers here are quite lovely! Our room was comfortable and as pictured.

They draw a very friendly crowd and it was fun talking to the other guests at breakfast. We even had a round of croquet with another couple one evening.

Breakfast was better than average. We enjoyed a quiche, pancakes and a frittata over the course of our three night stay. Love that there are always cookies available for the guests. Also lots of games in the cupboard for playing.

Though the setting is lovely and very pastoral I missed having a view of the water. That's my fault for not choosing a different location.

First of all, the food is great here. Second of all, our eyes were way bigger than our stomachs but everything was soooo good.

Don't be afraid of everything being vegan, you won't even notice.

We ordered two appetizers, the beet bowl and the hummus platter. This was a mistake because both are quite large and centered around the hummus. Even so, they were quite tasty. I would recommend ordering one or the other depending on what you prefer to compliment your hummus.

For our mains, we ordered the sweet potato tacos and a fungi pizza. Both were exceptionally delicious! I would order them both again.

Though the outdoor seating looks limited from the front, there is a large lovely patio in the rear.

Though there were many whale tooths on display, I would say that the museum overall is very long in the tooth.

Everything is in desperate need of an update. The displays are looking old and shabby but worst of all the information needs updating. There was lots of sad news here but nothing about the biggest success story of all...the humpbacks have returned to the Salish Sea in ever growing numbers! I think I heard that there are now over 800 of them in the summer months. Up from zero!!! Yes, they had totally decimated a vibrant humpback population down to zero but through conservation efforts that started back in the '60s, the humpbacks have returned!

I would also like to see more innovative and interactive displays especially for the kiddos!

Beautiful park with extensive well groomed walking/running paths. We even saw people fishing here.

A bit of information on Washington state fish hatcheries.
