Went back for lunch today and our server Laurie/Lori? Was the best, checked on us consistently but not so much that it interrupted our conversation or meal, great server!
I had the veal picatta and Ma had the chicken parmesan, once again it was delicious and a lot of food so much that I've also got dinner for tonight!! I didn't save room for dessert again but one day I will.
My parking complaint from earlier review is just me being dumb, I used the other exit today and it was very safe during rush hour.
I'll be back for the terrific service and epic meal sizing.
Giving the star back!
Thanks Carmela's and our server Lori/Lauri? We will be back!
Nice clean restaurant with great portion sizes. I was taken here for a birthday meal I had a Caesar salad and chicken fettuccine Alfredo. Dish was so rich and large that I took 75% of it home. Server was kind and we wanted for nothing.
I haven't been back but that's more due to parking and exiting the lot than the quality of food or service.
I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and will go back for lunch sometime, or takeout.
Great spot give them a taste.
If not for the dangerous exit it would be 5 stars.
Finally found something they are good at, PIZZA. My sister came down and we ordered a large cheese pizza for take out. The pie was ready when I arrived and my hopes were not high due to past experiences, in fact I threatened my sister with the old "this better be good".
Much to my surprise the pizza was delicious, crisp crust that held up well, no folding this pizza. We got a large cheese and ate the whole thing.
Glad that the 3rd time was a charm with this place as I was ready to give up. I'll return for pizza in the future.
Staff is hit or miss, pleasant this time but not friendly and not rude just kinda meh.
I decided to go back since the reviews said the pastrami sandwich was good. Ordering was difficult I wanted a hot pastrami sandwich. It was a super pastrami according to my receipt served with American cheese I should have specified Swiss. It was served on a toasted onion roll, it was a soggy mess, the pastrami itself was good but there was orange oil all over everything.
Pastrami was good but would have been better on rye with Swiss cheese and the pastrami was properly drained so orange oil isn't making everything soggy.
A Jewish deli pastrami sandwich this is not.
I want to like this place but this was strike 2. My sister wants to try their pizza, that will be my third and last try at this establishment.
I got take out but the restaurant is very clean and well taken care of, employees are not as salty as they used to be but ordering was rushed. I also hate that the tip screen comes up when I'm ordering at the counter. No table service, so what exactly am I tipping for? Taking my order? I have to tip for that?
Read the good and the bad reviews, all I wanted was a cheeseburger. I got my cheeseburger but mistakenly used the drive through(it's for pick up orders) they allowed me to order but were short with me, I was asked to pull back around in about 10 minutes, I did that, was greated with a terse "it's not ready yet" so I waited a couple more minutes. Also when I paid they didn't ask my to sign my receipt so they either didn't want a tip or will add their own later.
Burger construction was sloppy, almost impossible to taste all the flavors with tomatoes on one side and onions on the other, also they put the toppings under the burger. I asked for toasted bun couldn't tell if it was or not, I asked for well done because I like a bit of crisp on my burger, came to me at just past medium not quite medium well.
It was ok and not near the horror stories of the other reviews. I doubt I'll add this spot to my Kingston rotation, just super average. In a pinch it will work.
Why is it so hard to find a good burger on the south shore that is under $10?
My search continues, can't wait to get a smash or a shack down here, those are good burgers!
Consistently good pizza, I never had it before Covid-19, so I can't give an opinion based on that.
I love that they have anchovy for the pizza, a rarity these days. I've gotten 3 pies in the last few weeks, one just cheese, one pepperoni and one sausage and anchovy. The toppings were kinda lumped together on the anchovy that's the reason for 4 stars and not 5.
Super pleasant staff, very tiny place.
Haven't tried to dine in yet, I'm more of a white sauce/oil Italian cuisine kinda guy. Mainly because I don't care for tomato sauce.
This is the closest pizza to me besides khop and I'll continue to go here.
Order what you want eat what you get kind of place.
I stopped going here because of this, I ordered chicken fingers and got chicken wings. I asked them to deliver the correct food and they accused me of not ordering correctly then wanted the misdelivered food back. Also said it might be 3 hours before the correct order could be delivered. I declined and took the food back to the restaurant. I asked for a refund and they wanted to give me a gift card or voucher for "next time" I also refused this and told them there wouldn't be a next time and I wanted my money back now!
Restaurant itself was dirty, dated and tired. I found better places closer to my home for better Chinese food.
I can't recommend this establishment.
If zero or half stars were available I'd give this place a zero star or half star kinda place.
Slow poor delivery service, messed up entire order, had to take the food back to the restaurant myself and give it back to them, I refused the remainder of the food as well, restaurant would not return the delivery fee or the driver tip saying it was between me and the driver. I was a loyal customer of this place for years. But being ripped off and treated like I was trying to get over on them and being harassed when I said a store credit wasn't going to work for me much like my order, I got a refund, finally, minus delivery fee and tip for poor service. I haven't been back, the only draw they have now is they are open late. I've found better, cheaper, and more friendly Chinese restaurants in the area that now get my business, and don't put cold soda on top of hot goodly resulting in warm soda and cold food. AVOID this place! I'm no hater, just don't like being robbed and left hungry. Nothing at all Royal about this joint. I paid around $30 in food and 8 in unnecessary tip and delivery fee. 3 tonics, house special fried rice and chicken fingers. NEVER GOING BACK. It's been a year and I'm still pissed off
I used to like this place, was solid usually through Grubhub but if you want drinks you have to call the restaurant direct, sometimes they put cold drinks right on top of your food so you get cold food and hot drinks, they seemed to have fixed that problem but tonight got half my order wrong, not close, wrong, I called to get it corrected and they said it would be another hour to fix the mistake and they wanted the food that was wrong to be given back to them. Sketchy AF. Now instead of delivery I'm headed to the restaurant to bring their mistake back to them and get a refund. Won't refund the delivery fee for their own driver, better off using grubhub for a different Chinese place. So we are clear, I paid $39 for royal fried rice, Peking dumplings and three tonics, and I didn't get my tip or delivery fee back. Overpriced and under serviced. Spend your money elsewhere
Good take out bar pizza, no laced cheese crust and limited toppings but a solid bar pizza if that's what you are looking for!
I'm new to the bar pizza scene but this is the best spot close to me in Kingston. The bar and dining room seemed welcoming and inviting but I was on a take out mission all 3 time I have been in so far!
Keep making great pizza and I'll be back!
