Have been going here for more than 10years. Great-Quick service. Recently received smog check for $55 with the $5 off yelp check in. Parked, tended to, and paid in less than 15mins.
$45 with Yelp Check In. Test only took 7 minutes. Great and fast service! Came here in a Monday at 11am - no wait. Very quick. Been going here three times now for a smog check.
Lost my Trust - Mindfully Selling Damaged Bags
On the weekend of 02/03/23, my wife decided to purchase the Neverfull bag. My wife was happy and forgot to inspect the bag. A couple of days later, we took it home, opened the box, inspected the bag, and she noticed the bag was damaged; it had a loose thread on the stitching. So, she decided to return the bag the following weekend of 02/10/23. My wife mentioned to the associate that she would like to return the Neverfull bag due to it being damaged. We received our refund. My wife and I left the store. We returned less than an hour later because my wife was interested in another Louis Vuitton bag.
My wife spoke to a different associate and asked the associate if their store carried a different kind of bag. The associate said they currently do not. So, my wife goes back to the Neverfull bag and asks the associate if she can see one. My wife inspects it and then asks the associate if she can see a new one. The associate said "That's new. All of the bags they sell are new." My wife told the associate that "...this is the same bag I just returned because there is a loose thread on the stitching in the same spot."
Right there, Louis Vuitton lost my wife and I's trust. My wife is very perceptive. So, this was most likely the same bag she just returned. A damaged bag should be trashed or repaired; not returned back for sale on the floor with their "new" inventory less than an hour later.
I'll give Louis Vuitton the benefit of the doubt. Even if for some reason that this isn't the same bag, this repeated defect on their bags proves that the quality is poor and their QA/QC is poor.
Kindly Reconsider.
Overall, I have to give this place a 1.5/5 stars for many reasons. First, let us discuss initial general seating. I was driving by the area looking for a "hot and new" place to eat. I entered the restaurant at 2:52pm. The hostess stated that my wife and I would be seated in 20 mins. I asked if we would receive the lunch price (i.e. earlier than 3pm), which is significantly more inexpensive than the dinner price. She said she would place a note. After 35 mins later, we were seated at the first table on the left as you enter. Once seated, we noticed that one cannot sit on one side of the table because the table is not centered between the two benches. The waiter stated they are currently understaffed and cannot tend to everyone in a timely manner, which is understandable; so, he suggested we should order a lot of meat and appetizers ahead of time. We noticed there were no serving utensils. We initially asked for water, which did not arrive until we asked the second time 30 mins later. Also, their windows did not have any blinders to diffuse the light from blinding me.
Secondly, let us discuss the restroom, which was generally clean. I used the restroom and noticed there was not any soap; so, I asked the hostess for the refill. 15 mins later, I asked my waiter, and he personally refilled the soap. I am simply upset that I could not use my hands or eat for 15 mins - just waiting for the soap to be refilled.
Thirdly, let us discuss the quality of the food. Just to summarize, the best item I tasted were the oranges. They were definitely sweet and juicy. My wife and I ordered the Tonkotsu and Spicy Miso broths. Do not order the Spicy Miso - it tastes watered down. The Tonkotsu broth was decent. I ordered all types of beef, which was not great, but OK. Also, I ordered the gyoza and popcorn chicken appetizers, which were not the best quality. However, I did like the selection of vegetables, shrimp, mussels, and sauces. Overall, I do not think the quality of the food is worth $18 for lunch considering other establishments such as King Shabu Shabu, Momo Paradise, Broth, etc. with similar pricing.
Lastly, let us discuss payment. I decided to call it quits not being full and just pay the tab. So, I left my table to pay at the front. My wife and I were charged dinner price. I complained that I should be charged the lunch price to one of the associates, which seemed accommodating. He stated he needs Manager approval. The Manager asked when did I arrive - I stated 2:50 something. He accused my wife of arriving after 3pm. I stated "no, we both arrived before 3pm." I paid lunch price, gave a $1 something tip equating to a $40 total.
I typically do not write bad reviews of establishments, but this place ranked quite low. It seems that the workers are hustling with limited resources. Props to them, but this restaurant's owner/management did not thoroughly think about all of the necessities and basic operational logistics.
The Best! The service, restaurant atmosphere, and most importantly, the quality of food is exceptional. Within this general area of the South Bay, I definitely recommend this place. The food tastes fresh and delicious. I will definitely return.
Favorite Boba place. Happy new location in SouthBay Torrance area. Recommend winter melon fresh milk tea and Hokkaido milk tea and taro slush.
