We ordered carryout. The bacon candy was crispy and fatty and sweet - yummy. Garlic mashed potatoes and mac & cheese were solidly good. Pulled pork was a bit dry. The brisket was tender and tasty. Coleslaw dry and bland. It's a fun and hip atmosphere, but there's better BBQ to be had in Chicago, if you're going for the food alone.
This was our first time here. We started with the Burrata and Pesto. It needed a little salt and pepper, but otherwise was delicious. And the tomatoes they served with it were clearly home grown or from a farmer's market, as they were deep red, sweet and delicious. I had the Bechamel-Bolognese Lasagna topped with Whipped Burrata and Nutmeg. Best lasagna I've ever had. My husband, who doesn't really care for lasagna, took a bite and was actually speechless. It's complex, a little spicy and rich (but not too rich). My husband was equally impressed by the mushroom risotto. We loved what we ate so much, we ordered another pasta to take home. My only criticism is that we had the worst table in the restaurant, next to the kitchen and crammed against the back wall. My husband had made reservations, so we figured we'd get a better table, but when we asked to switch, they said there was nothing available but a high-top that we'd have to leave by a certain time. That was kind of a bummer, but we got over it. Would definitely go back, but request a better table in advance.
So disappointed! I waited for what felt an eternity to get the attention of the sullen girl behind the counter. I ordered an Aperol Spritz and piece of the square pepperoni pizza to go. Managed to have a completely wordless transaction. The pizza was room temperature and tasted worse than a bad frozen pizza. I took a couple bites and threw the rest away.
The best meal we had in Florence! A charming, lovely and peaceful oasis just a few steps from the crowded streets of Florence. I had the Gragnano spaghetti with tomato sauce, burrata and basil - it was simple but so flavorful and delicious! I ate every last bit of it. My husband had risotto with shrimp and basil sauce and enjoyed it as well. Great wines choices. We were lucky to get a table since we just walked in off the street without a reservation. People who showed up shortly after us were turned away. Highly recommend it!
Very friendly service and delicious, inexpensive wine. I had the pasta bolognese. There was very little of the bolognese sauce, and it was incredibly bland. Adding salt and pepper helped a little, but it was still very disappointing for my first dinner in Venice.
I'd go back for drinks only.
