A great place for steaks and other Argentine dishes. I sat at the bar and Juan was great. It was a Saturday night with live music and though there were a few empty seats, the place was lively. Cocktails and dinner were great. Really a great spot by every measure.
Lively, colorful atmosphere with many interesting healthy food options. I was there for brunch on a Sunday. You order food at the counter and making a decision was difficult. I ordered the Huevos Cazuela Arabes, a dish with soft boiled eggs, tomatoes, onion, chilis, zaatar, and pita bread. It didn't take long after I found a seat and the food was delivered. It was a bit soupier than I expected, but the fusion of Mexican and Arabian flavors were delightful. With loads of egg dishes, tacos, sandwiches, ceviches, and acai bowls on the menu, I will certainly be back!
It was very slow for lunch on a weekday. In fact, I was the only customer during the hour I was there. I intentionally ordered a few items that were mild, but I should have ordered differently, as my choices were a bit boring. The Mediterranea salad ($22) looked good on the menu, but it was pedestrian, nothing special, and way overpriced for what I received. It would have been worth it for $12. I also ordered the albondigas (meatballs in tomato sauce for $9). Nothing special. They were meatballs in tomato sauce. Next time, I will order some of the other more interesting tapas including chorizo al vino, croquetas, patatas bravas, and tortilla espanol. I will give it another chance and make better decisions regarding what I order next time. I generally love Spanish tapas and this place has potential.
This was my second visit to this chic and eclectic bar. I found myself struggling to decide what food option to order, but I settled on the prime swine (pork loin, boursin, and balsamic reduction). My cocktail was fine and the food was good. I would love to see some happy hour specials and the prices are on the high end for this location. Also, I felt like the staff were not as focused on their customers as I experienced in my previous visit, and we had a hard time getting them to give us any attention at all, which is inconsistent with what we experienced previously. You do not need reservations for District, but you do need reservations for the speakeasy, Staff Only, in the back. To make a reservation for this unique Staff Only speakeasy experience, scroll to the bottom of the District website.
This intimate cocktail lounge is a fairly new great place for a craft cocktail and tapas. The limited menu of small bits includes an ahi tuna stack and a "sexy salsa" (hearts of palm, papaya, avocado, cucumber, mango, and peppers) and I enjoyed them both. Other options include duck prosciutto, prime filet tartare, truffled fries, and caviar. The cocktail menu is outstanding and the bartenders are masters. There is a speakeasy in the back, and to get it you either need a password or a reservation (visit the website and look for "Staff Only"). The speakeasy is a completely different vibe, with music from the 20's and a cocktail menu that pays homage to that era. Food and drinks are a bit pricey, particularly considering the "Off Fifth" location, but otherwise everything about the space is great.
An outdoor open air bar and restaurant in a former parking lot with a casual vibe. I was there on a night when there was live entertainment and a big crowd. The menu includes fairly simple small bites. I sat at the bar and ordered three carnitas tacos ($12.50) and a petite beer ($4.75). The food is served on disposable plates which is a bit unfortunate, but probably to be expected in an open air casual bar. The prices are reasonable (unlike many restaurants in the area) and the vibe is totally casual (also unlike many restaurants in the area) but the food is good and reliable (the kitchen also serves The District, an upscale, chic, and expensive cocktail bar in the same building). This is a great place to go when the weather is great.
