We had 6:15 reservations on a Thursday night. We were seated promptly at a table that shouldn't exist. It was a 2 person high top on the end of a row. There was a plastic frosted divider between our seats and the next table but it was of little benefit. Unfortunately, the table next to use was a party of 10-12 people, looked like a company happy hour, who were very much enjoying themselves and walking around the area. I know Charlotte is a corporate spot filled with company HH but I feel like our seating really affected the quality of the meal and not sitting 2 people directly next to a 12 person crowd is a layup. Needless to say, it was incredibly loud. It was also very dark. Our waitress asked for ID and she could read it because it's so dark.
Drinks were outstanding. Tried the cellar margarita, smoked pecan, the East village and the sarezac.
Food was pretty average especially considering the high price points Charlotte charges now. We split short rib dumplings and they were tasty. Entrees were grouper and scallops. Both were lacking any interest.
Dessert was good. We split the berry fried dumplings. They were interesting and good. Something you don't see on every menu.
No complaints about our server. She was knowledgeable, pleasant and friendly. I can't say much about the decor because it was very dark and if we looked around all we saw was happy hour people.
Tried it but wouldn't recommend or return.

Steak 48 was outstanding!!! Everything about our time at Steak 48 was perfect. Service and food were excellent. It was the best meal we have had in a minute. Both enjoyed our drinks but the food was top notch. Started out with oysters- fresh and sweet. Also tried the chicken fried lobster tails. It's exactly what it sounds like; 3 tails fried with Old Bay seasoning. So. Good.
We had crab cakes, 2 5oz cakes, the 8oz filet, the cream brûlée corn and a daily special of crab mashed potatoes. Everything was delicious. I've never had anything like the corn side before and I think I would go to the bar and order and eat just that! Truly amazing. I wish I had better words to describe how wonderful the meal! Steak 48 is pricey but I honestly think it's worth it!!
It is worth multiple return visits!

Delicious. Everything we had was delicious. We had the arancini and prosciutto with arugula. Fantastic. My friend truly tried to lick the prosciutto plate clean! Table had chicken piccata, pasta with seafood in blush sauce and sacchetti in a Gorgonzola sauce. We all enjoyed all our dishes immensely.
Our service was friendly and knowledgeable. Attentive but didn't hover.
The restaurant itself is very unassuming. I've driven past it several times. I won't make that mistake again! Highly recommended.

Really enjoyed the entire experience. Had a reservation and were seated immediately.
Drinks were great; so was the food. Entertainment was easily viewed from our upstairs seats. Bar looked lively. Age group of our party ranged from 17-74 and all enjoyed.

Really enjoyed our dinner here. Has a speakeasy vibe; you enter around the back and go downstairs. Brick walls and dark wood interior feels very inviting and comfortable. Service was friendly and helpful and they didn't rush you through dinner. Well made and thoughtful drinks paired well with our dinner. Table shared the Mac and cheese which was top notch and hush puppies with a brown sugar butter. Cajun butter chicken, lamb chops and shrimp and grits for dinner all received rave reviews. Would definitely recommend and return. Great meal and find.
