"Happy 100th Birthday Hovhaness!"

Celebrating the 100th birthday of the American composer Alan Hovhaness, Naperville Chamber players presents an all-Hovhaness concert as part of St. Michael Catholic Church's "Great Music in a Great Space" concert series.  The concert will feature music for flute, cello, piano, harp, guitar and percussion, including several unpublished works and rarely performed works.  Artistic Directors flutist Marie Bennett and cellist Dorothy Deen are joined by guest artists: pianist Dr. Myung Hee Chung, guitarist Jim Perona, Lyric Opera of Chicago harpist Ben Melsky, and percussionist Ben Wahlund.  Freewill donations accepted, 100% of all proceeds go directly towards producing concerts.

Music performed will include Spirit of Trees for guitar and harp; Upon Enchanted Ground for flute, harp, cello and giant Tam-Tam; Fantasy on Japanese Woodprints for marimba and piano; Garden of Adonis for flute and harp; Starry Night for flute, harp and vibraphone; Mountain Dances for solo piano; Sonata for flute and guitar, and Yakamochi for solo cello.
