Hit and miss. Mussels were great. Best anywhere! Chicken an abysmal failure. Service was first rate, though a bit confusing. Did we actually have ten waiters! We just showed up last week on a rainy night. Seated immediately. Great location for hanging out in the King's Road. Hotspur for The PJ (junto.blogspot.com)

Points for atmosphere and good service. But my Beef Wellington didn't cut it. The pastry was fine, but really NOT fluffy enough, Beef was undercooked. Nothing special. I had been meaning to get to this place -- a strictly tourist venue -- for years. It was a disappointment -- especially as I was looking forward my Beef Wellington, a treat I really…

The food -- bouillabaisse for Hotspur and chateaubriand for Joan -- were fair to middling. But the atmosphere -- especially, on a rainy day earlier this week -- was at its best film noir black and white ambience. Only Jean Gabin and shooting steam from wartime locomotives were missing. Service was OK. Prices are very good for value and for the…

Marathon -- at this Market Street location and other venues -- is a Philly mainstay. I've had better meals and service at other locations. I've had lunch at 1818 (Wed SIPS place) twice in recent weeks. Seated by hostesses cheerfully both times on the open-air patio. Then it was downhill. Food OK. Service, however, needs help. Our waiters on both…

La Viola West. Great food. Great prices. Great service by all-male ADULT staff. All tables are all good. But we prefer the front room. BYOB. Credit cards OK. Hot. Hot. Hot. Go. Go. Go. -- Hotspur for The PJ (junto.blogspot.com).

Thanks Bernie! No, NOT that Bernie. Formidable! Excellent menu! Great service Great value! Especially now what with strong US$ against C$. Introduced to this place some years by my cousin Bernie who was living on Montreal at the time. Been going back since. No street signage. Let's pretend it's our little secret. Oy! What's the big deal, already? I know this breaks with received wisdom, but Schwartz's deli is just mediocre. I've had better in Philly (Famous Fourth, anyone?). One of our party asked for ice, slap-dab waiter trotted out the well-worn, 'Come back in January for ice.' Ouch, mate. Been there, done that. Hotspur for The Philadelphia Junto (…

Good food. Somewhat overpriced. $$ but add-ons take it easily to $$$. Attentive -- but fussy -- service. Would try it again.
