Unfortunately, this restaurant and hotel has permanently closed because the city turned it into a HOMELESS SHELTER, HOMELESS HOTEL. Such a shame because this was a beautiful hotel, gorgeous lobby, ZIRAN had some of the best food we have ever tasted, especially the Mushroom Risotto. It's directly across the street from the world-famous Bonaventure Hotel and I wonder how the restaurants are doing there now because the LA Hotel houses the homeless and we frequently see drug deals going on right outside the hotel...they don't even care if anyone see them...

The beautiful decor is what initially invited me to come and sit for a drink. Well i was greeted by a vivacious bartender and decide to have a bite to eat! Well i was not dissapointed, I ordered the wings, popcorn shrimp, and the potstickers, all were very tasty.

Small tapas sozed portions, perfect for sharing for two people, or just for one greedy person such as myself haha will definitely be back to see what dinner has in store!

We decided to try this place to celebrate the last day of dineLA. I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich and my coworker ordered the turkey sandwich. We both had the grapefruit arugula salad.

This restaurant is located inside of the LA Grand hotel in downtown LA. A large stunning open restaurant with marble pillars and gorgeous artwork, we were thrilled that they had a $15 lunch menu. We both enjoyed our sandwiches but the salad was the real winner here. Arugula salad with almonds, tomatoes, avocado, and grapefruit, it was a bright summer salad. I usually do not like arugula due to its bitterness. However, the dressing balanced it out perfectly. My chicken was crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. I wish I could cook chicken like they did. I can never seem to perfect chicken.

Service was excellent. The restaurant was not that busy for lunch which is surprising since the food was so delicious. We'd definitely return to this restaurant for lunch sometime. We are lucky that it's a short walk away as well!

Our first visit to this restaurant was for a party of two on Saturday, October 5. We did find out about this through a pre-fixe Groupon deal, because otherwise we may have never have known about this restaurant as a local.... Which is tucked inside the LA Grand Hotel.

I must admit that it was a little weird at first. The restaurant, which offers dinner, closes at 2pm daily. However, if you sit at the bar (in the lobby), they have a full menu.

Our experience quickly turned from a little odd to amazing. We had a great server, super efficient service and the food was out of this world.

Our pre-fixe menu included one appetizer to share, along with individual soup/salad, entree and dessert.

The popcorn shrimp that we shared was solidly good. I had the French onion soup, which ranked up in the top ones I have had in the past. The main entree was one of the best dishes I ever had. The mushroom risotto was simply foodgasmic! I don't know what magic recipe they have, but it was amazing. The meal ended with a delicious chocolate caramel lava cake.

I wouldn't usually frequent a hotel restaurant as a local; however, this place gets high marks in my book and I would return.

This review is a bit overdue but it's worth writing for those staying in the LA Downtown Hotel. A friend and I stayed here for 2 nights while visiting LA and loved the ambiance. When we found ourselves hungry without restaurant reservations, we opted to walk down to the hotel's restaurant, Ziran. This is the same restaurant that room service is delivered from so we figured it would be cheaper, but it wasn't.

We walked in around 7pm and the place was EMPTY. We were seated right away (obviously) and ordered - my friend went with a pasta dish and I chose to go down the burger and fries route (thankfully).

My friend's pasta was one of the strangest things I've ever seen. It had finely diced carrots and onions, but in mass quantities... so much that my friend could barely navigate around them. My stance is, if something is a main ingredient in a dish, it should be listed on the menu. My poor friend barely ate her pasta because of her adversity to onions (and with that quantity, I honestly don't blame her). My burger was ok, nothing special. The bun was clunky and greasy somehow so I just removed it and ate my burger with a fork and knife.

They have an offer for Yelp which they honored so we got cash back (win!), but I wouldn't come back here. If you are staying in the hotel and want to order room service or need a really convenient bite, stick with the basics. Don't order the pasta from here and don't bother venturing down to the actual restaurant. You won't be saving any money and you'll waste a trip.

Came by here for breakfast when we were in town to watch the "Family Feud" taping with Steve Harvey - which was happening just down the street at LA Center Studios. It was one of the few places open at the time, so we got a seat immediately. Ordered:
      1) Eggs Benedict
      2) Chilaquiles

Both items were only mediocre/standard and expensive, but that's what happens when you dine at a nice hotel. Staff were friendly!

Ziran. What a little gem inside The LA Hotel! This restaurant is hidden inside the hotel in the back near the bar area. The atmosphere here wasn't what I expected... there weren't much guests here during dinner time and I guess they're missing out! The service here is excellent and they go beyond to make sure you are feeling comfortable and satisfied with your meal. The bread they offer here comes with unique types of butter. My favorite was the chives. I had their popcorn chowder that everyone was talking about and oh boy, that was so fulfilling and yummy! The food is great but for my entree, the miso cod I got was kind of rough and just have been over cooked just a few minutes. The desserts were great and that lava cake was just heaven in my mouth although I only had one bite since I was already stuffed.

You can valet your car for $5 with restaurant's validation ;)

Really good lunch spot. I got the S3 which is soup, salad, sandwich.

I had the corn veloute soup, pear salad, and salmon blt. The dish is filling and very good.

I also tired the popcorn shrimp and tempura green beans (off menu) for appetizers.

x amount of stars for the food and subtract y amount of stars for the service so that x-y=1.

Came by here for lunch because we were in the area and were looking to eat some sandwiches and the menu for this place looked pretty good. We came at the early lunch hour, so the restaurant was pretty empty and I thought that I'd be in and out of there quickly...

Boy was I wrong. After ordering my sandwich and soup, the restaurant started to fill up and other people who came later, ordered and got their food before my party. An hour later, after at least two (2) parties around me (who were seated after my arrival) started finishing their meals and paying for their checks, I was still waiting around sipping on complementary water.

The water was alright, I'm quite sure it was tap, but it just didn't fill me up, and staring at other people eat the exact sandwich I ordered didn't help either!

So my party decided to leave after being unattended for an hour, and I ran to the nearest Jimmy John's around the corner to get a similar sandwich (sans soup) for a fraction of the cost and an even larger fraction of the time. The radio ad is true, when your house is on fire, call the fire brigade, and then call Jimmy John's.

3 stars but +1 for the great customer service. Came for DineLA with a friend on a Monday night. The restaurant itself is located in the LA Hotel. You will need to valet your car (luckily only $5, for up to 3 hrs of parking). The parking structures around there charge around $7-12 for the night, so unless you are planning on walking around afterwards, take the easy route and just valet.

There's no signs in the hotel or even a sign with the restaurant name, but when you enter from the lobby, it'll be on the far left corner. Ambiance is really nice, super classy restaurant but the place was pretty empty considering DineLA was going on.

We went with the DineLA menu, so I got the Ahi Tuna Poke, Grilled Pork Chop and Creamy Cheesecake, while my friend got the Popcorn Chowder, Honey Miso Brushed Black Bass and the Chocolate Carmel Lava Cake.

Ahi Tuna Poke: Comes in 3 pretty big pieces, the tuna was pretty fresh, I really enjoyed the avocado sauce on the side. But I wish they could cut it into smaller pieces. Not used to eating poke with a knife, but I guess I might just not be fancy enough.

Popcorn Chowder: Tried some of my friend's, probably my favorite dish of the night. Creamy corn chowder with bits of popcorn to give it a crunchy texture. Flavoring is great, and the portion is pretty big.

Grilled Pork Chop: Meh, not much flavoring, my piece was overcooked but the bread pudding was definitely unique and made up for the rest of the dish.

Honey Miso Brushed Black Bass: My friend thought this would be sea bass but she was sadly disappointed when she found out it wasn't. On top of that, the first one they served was still raw in the middle, however, they were really nice about it and quickly got another one. The second one was cooked perfectly, kind of too salty for my palette but I enjoyed the dish.

Both desserts were pretty normal. The presentation was very nice but taste was like every day lava cake and cheesecake.

Service was on point, although a bit on the slower end. I hate to assume, but if they had a full house, it might have taken almost 20-30 mins to serve each of the dishes. Back to service though, my friend got a comp'd glass of white wine for her raw fish which was really nice of them. Not sure if I'd come back but this place is definitely really nice for dates or client meet ups for sure.
