We are Glendale newest Armenian Bakery! We're bringing Zhengyalov Hatz; a type of flatbread stuffed with 15 finely fresh diced herbs, green vegetables, top quality flour, sunflower oil and salt. Not only did they hope to feed the city's growing Middle Eastern population; they also wanted to give adventurous foodies a taste of something new and exciting! The menu at our new location is still as authentic as the day it was born, as is our passion for serving traditional Armenian baked good dishes in a relaxing setting to new customers. Zhengyalov Hatz is recommended, for small plates of all of the above and more. Share on a date or with friends. In addition to our dine in and take out menu we offer our catering services for Delivery and Pickup. We also offer full service catering for weddings and special events.

Zhengyalov Hatz is a charming little Armenian bakery tucked away in Glendale that's all about one specialty--and they do it so well. The menu is small and focused, with their star item being (you guessed it) the zhengyalov hatz--a traditional flatbread stuffed with a mix of finely chopped greens, herbs, and veggies.
I'll admit, I was a little hesitant at first since I wasn't sure I'd like all the greens inside, but it completely exceeded my expectations. The flavors were balanced, fresh, and super satisfying. I could've easily eaten another one! It's the kind of simple, comforting food that hits just right.
The bakery itself is cute and cozy, with subtle Armenian touches that make the space feel warm and authentic. I found street parking pretty easily on the weekend, though it might be trickier during the week.
Service was fast and friendly, and while the prices are about what you'd expect for a quality bite in the LA area, the experience and taste make it worth it. If you're curious to try something new--or already love Armenian food--this little spot is definitely worth a visit!

Small clean restaurant. Counter order without table service.
The place was empty when we came for dinner on a Tuesday evening. The lady who took order was very cold without even a slight smile. The zhengyalov hatz was very salty and gave me a bitter aftertaste. The pork shawarma was ok. I liked the bread/wrap.
Tried it out due to high reviews but would not ever come backHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun 16, 2025
You would think that a wrap filled solely with green and bitter herbs won't be appetizing, but then, you would be mistaken. If you're in Glendale, stop in and make sure you order the namesake dish. It's a traditional Armenian dish that is a staple during times of scarcity. It is very unique and I haven't had anything like it. It's also really delicious! And cheap!
We also ordered a shawarma and a lahmaçun and this lahmaçun was the best one I've had outside of Turkey!
Seriously, don't sleep on this place.

Came here on a Saturday around 1 pm. There is metered street parking around the restaurant and we luckily got a spot right in front. Most of the tables were taken inside and out of this small establishment. The atmosphere is warm and lively, with groups chatting.
My boyfriend and I got 2 zhengtalov hatz and one lahmajune to share. He also ordered an Armenian coffee. The prices have gone up from what I can tell but they're still pretty reasonable. The food was ready around 5-10 minutes later. The woman who took our order gave us the hatz and coffee while the other side of the restaurant provided us the lahmajune.
We sat outside at one of the 3 tables and went to town. The zhengyalov hatz was delicious and refreshing! It was full of well seasoned miscellaneous veggies and I was surprised by how thin the bread was. The lahmajune was also so yummy and pretty big! It was super flavorful and had a thin layer of meat topping. Adding the lemon juice from the fresh lemon wedge provided the perfect tang.
I can see why this restaurant is on the Michelin guide. It was my first time trying an Armenian bread and I was blown away, it was so unique and delicious. Would be happy to bring my family here to try for themselves.

Casual walk in place, counter order. Service was ok. We got the classic zhengyalov hatz wrap, and split it. Having never had it, wasn't sure what to expect. It's very veggie, herbal-y. Pretty much just bread and vegs. It was done well, but maybe not to my taste. The flatbread part was very good though.

Highly recommend this place! It's vegan but you don't miss the meat. It was super quick the order. Very convenient. Love the Armenian beer my first time trying it and will get it again. There's street parking by the shop and along the streets. Service was super friendly very welcoming. She explain to us which one to get and was thrilled it was our first time there. Interior is well decorated and clean. I would come here again.

Warm and savory Armenian establishment perfect for fresh and hearty choices for breakfast and lunch! My girlfriend and I stopped in for a morning fill up with an order to go for an Armenian coffee, a couple of their Hatz and what to me could be coined as an Armenian Pizza.
Both were prepared in front of us in their open style kitchen areas. We waited only a few minutes and sat out front at their table area. All their decor was rich in character and certainly had a charm. eating outside or inside it certainly felt like a perfect cafe for a comfortable brunch.
My coffee was served black but was still rich in flavor as is, I'd recommend stirring it a bit because there's a lot more to be had if the brew doesn't collect all at the bottom.
Their hatz had lovely greens that were both slightly crunchy, very refreshing and tiny hints of acidic pleasure. Their wrapped grain was thinner than expected and served hot! It was amazing.
The pizza looking item was also a masterpiece. The thin crunchy bites were a rich complement to the savory, citrusy lemon juice bites of the cheesy and meaty topping. There were small hints of tomato and the way it all came together was balancing. Delicious breakfast fix.
It was among my earliest exposures to Armenian cuisine and this restaurant served amazing food with character and detail to flavor. I'd easily return if ever in the area again.

I came here for a lil snack and was pleasantly surprised.
They have a simple wooden menu with mostly drinks and their namesake - the zhengyalov hatz.
So we ordered the zhengyalov hatz ($7.99) which, unbeknownst to us at the time, is vegetarian. It is a flatbread stuffed with diced herbs and green vegetables. The version here is (I think) parsley heavy. I am no zhengyalov hatz expert, however the zhengyalov was zhengyalov-ing. The flatbread was warm and enveloped the cool greens. It made for a really tasty bite. I haven't tried anything completely new in a long time and this was surprisingly so good.
We also shared the chicken shawarma ($15.99) which was also delish. They stuff it with red onions and fresh herbs, which keeps the sandwich tasting real fresh.
It comes as no surprise that the flatbread and sandwich bread are phenomenal. This is, after all, supposed to be a bakery. Everything else is just a bonus.
Highly recommend coming here if you're looking for something a little different and a little new.

Such a charming spot that makes you wish you could sit there and enjoy a leisurely breakfast with friends or family. During my visit, I noticed a family savoring their Zengyalov, accompanied by stunning teapots that added to the inviting atmosphere.
The customer service was truly exceptional--attentive and welcoming, which made the experience all the more enjoyable. As for the Zengyalov itself, I found the flavors delightful and refreshing; it was a new culinary adventure for me. However, I did notice a slight bitter aftertaste, which might have been from the parsley or dill used in the filling.
Overall, I found the dish quite enjoyable and definitely worth the hype. That said, it seemed simple enough to recreate at home, especially since you can easily find the dough or bread at a nearby Armenian market. I look forward to returning and trying more dishes from their menu!Helpful 5Thanks 4Love this 7Oh no 2
