This place should get a reset on rating, as recently changed management and got a complete remodel. It's still called Yummy Asian but the Chinese name has changed to 川仔面馆 (Szechwan Noodle House). The interior is simple and modern, with a handful of 4-top tables and a counter like you find at ramen places.
The menu is pretty spare but I think that's a good thing when it comes to Chinese restaurants that tend to serve way too many things to specialize at any. In this case, the specialization is on noodle dishes and dumplings. There are also some fried rices on the menu. I ordered a zhajiangmian (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhajiangmian) and pork dumplings. The food took quite a long time to come but was worth the wait. Everything is hand made, fresh on the spot, even the dumplings. Flavors and textures were both perfect. I think the owner is the only person operating the kitchen so hopefully they can hire some extra staff. It may also have been slow because he was working on a phone order, but otherwise, I was the only person without food when I ordered.
Definitely coming back to try other things. I'm pretty excited with the growing number of authentic Chinese places in Riverside these days. Happy tummy, happy times.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 23, 2015
Yummy? Yummy. Replacing a mediocre generic Asian restaurant this Chinese and Korean specialty is more targeted to the growing demographic trend at UC Riverside. Since it is conveniently located I decided to try someplace new and I'm glad I did.
The menu is nicely illustrated through the front windows and behind the counter. The number one dish, Chinese, appealed due to the choice of pork ribs, chicken wings or fish. I picked pork ribs and grabbed a seat in the brightly decorated dining area. That's where I saw the seemingly abysmal low ratings on Yelp, but most were six-months or more old. I decided to see for myself though.
The cook brought a tray out for me with the obligatory rice bowl and a plate of heaping veggies and riblets. It smelled fantastic! I asked for spicy and wasn't disappointed. What was in it? Almost carmalized onions, slivers of browned potatoes, fresh garlic, celery, green pepper and crushed red peppers. A generous portion of pork riblets impressed me even before the first bite.
Needless to say I shall return. The meal was prepared fresh and all of the flavors blended well. I didn't find it excessively spicy, but definitely not mild. The sweetness of the onions lent themselves well with the marinade in the pork. Afterwards I felt light, no food coma symptoms, which was awesome. I felt the experience overall was excellent. Quick service, friendly service, and good portion and quality for the price. My only gripe is the 35 -cent surcharge for spending less than $10 on a card. 4-stars for now. Next time I will try something else.Helpful 15Thanks 0Love this 14Oh no 0 - Gina A.Alhambra, CA5941218Jan 22, 2018
Tried this for the first time last night and it was surprisingly good! Ordered the beef fried rice and short rib noodles & both are so flavorful. Everything here is homemade and it seems a lot healthier compared to other Chinese restaurants. Servers are very helpful and nice as well! At one point, we conversed in Chinese and it just felt like I'm home :)

Stopped here for a quick bite on the way home. Menu looked good with some Chinese fast food style dishes, however the things we really wanted like chicken, lamb, skewer sticks and chicken wings they were out of stock. These are pretty basic items that you should ALWAYS have in stock especially when you are at the University Village. Finger foods basically. It's like going to McDonald's and them telling you that they are out of fries. It's disappointing when it's a featured item when you walk up to the counter. We did order the beef fried rice and beef noodles which were pretty good! The authenticity was pretty solid. It's cooked to order too so give it at least 15mins. Oh and the portions were good for the price.

These suckas didn't even say hi to me. Stood at the counter for 2 minutes. Shame on me. Now I am in trouble with my mom for not listening to her advice.
Was gonna get that beef noodle plate, but nope. So instead I walked over to Manna Grill and before the door closed, a nice lady greeted me and turned my frown upside down.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Mia H.Riverside, CA215714Apr 12, 2017
Came on a Sunday afternoon, tried to order an item on the menu, but was told it wasn't available... So I looked a bit more and chose something else, but surprise surprise, that item also wasn't available. That happened a THIRD time, and at that point I was just ready to leave, but finally chose something they could serve. What I ended up with was a to-go box with about 90% rice and 10% beef inside.
On top of that, the wait was far too long to result in mostly rice... I'd understand if I had other items that actually require cooking, other than a rice steamer. (Because that's about all I really got)
Oh well. Lesson learned.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Eric Y.Brea, CA1853121Jan 10, 2018
Food here is mediocre, but takes such a long time. The waitress is super nice and helps you in every way but this place should be embarrassed to call itself a restaurant. It took exactly 41 minutes to get my food. My girlfriend and I came here because we were studying and didnt want to waste time but I should have realized that It would have been a lot quicker if I bought groceries for myself and cook it at home. The picture is the owner who is chillin while customers have been complaining why their food is taking so long. Go spend your time wisely people..

Do not come here. My friend ordered her food and was told that the wait would be 30 mins. After almost an hour she still hadn't gotten her food. When we asked how much longer, they told us that they hadn't even started yet.
No one there even spoke English. I would not recommend this place.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Victoria W.Honolulu, HI1358Jun 29, 2017
They were out of everything that was on the menu. I wanted to order the chicken noodle plate but I was told they only had beef. I wanted Coke and was told their soda fountain was broken. They said no to basically everything but I was surprised they didn't say no to a refund haha.
If you're reading this before you decide whether you should or shouldn't eat here, I highly recommend that you eat elsewhere.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Eduardo V.Palmdale, CA2161Jun 2, 2017
I used to love this place whenever I would visit my brother in UCR, so it kills me to say that this place went down hill. They couldnt sell me a drink even though they had drinks in their fridge? Food took like almost an hour, and by the time I got to the place where I'm staying, i came to find out that they gave me the wrong plate.
Heres the worst thing, foods not good anymore. Not horrible, just... really really mediocre. Im still gonna the thing but man it was a real let down
It sucks to give it two stars, but if the food was awful, then I would have given it a one star, but the food was consumable. Other than that, go somewhere else.
EDIT: I was writing this as I was eating the food, and honestly, I couldn't finish it. Dont go there.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
