Love this spot! The setting feels comfortable, and it can even be a hangout spot with the outdoor wooden table. Great staff, the owner knows everyone's name and their favorites. They take a lot of great care in their food. I got number #1 and #3. Fresh bread, crispy on the outside and soft and pillowy on the inside. I like the fresh pickled cucumber in the sandwich as well. Everything in the sandwich just screams freshness. I bookmarked this place and I'll definitely come again
I came here looking to help cure my hangover with bowl of pho, but they stopped serving Pho on October 1 :[ So i ordered a "banh mi thit nguoi" which is item number 1 on the menu and a Vietnamese coffee. The bread of the sandwich was warm and flaky and didn't cut the roof of my mouth like the sandwiches at the other viet sandwich locations. I was lucky and got a super spicy jalapenos in my sandwich and they also included cucumber which other locations don't have. The pate was very similar to Thanh Huong's pate. The coffee was delicious as well. Not too sweet and had the bold coffee flavor. I'll definitely have to return to try their curry chicken or beef stew with their warm flaky bread.
When the first Vietnamese bahn mi shops first came on the scene, nothing like it had ever been made in America and it became an instant hit. It was cheap (~$2), and they used the long skinny bagguet bread. The filling was tasty with the pickled vegetables. Over the years the prices doubled and now quadrupled (over $13). Some of these use substandard bread as a way to cut down costs, but the result is not the same. Yummee, thankfully, does use quality bread. The French rolls they use are straight out of the Disney/Pixar feature, Ratatouille. How do you know a bread is good without tasting it? Not the smell, not the look, but the sound of the crust! That crisp, crackling sound! You then press the bread. If it returns back to its original shape, you know it is fresh. Yummee's bread is fresh, even at the end of the day, the freshness was still there. I commend them for using quality bread. I have never seen a bang mi so big! And for $6.95, it is a bargain. The meat filling is abundant, and the pickled veggies are so tasty and crunchy! And best of all, the top ridge of gums behind my front teeth is not sore! A bang mi that does not require a trip tot he dentist - nice! If there is a gripe, I would say that the meat was not as flavorful as I expected. But, the nice balance of flavors is admirable! This is a great place for bahn mi!
I have had the sandwiches twice here. The first time the chicken sandwiches was very good, nice flavor and the veggies were perfect. I went back again, the sandwich was dry, the bread was awesome but the veggies left a lot to be desired. Also had the chicken curry with bread. The taste was very bland, not flavorful and tasty. Maybe they were having a bad day, even when I asked for another bowl to share and the lady was not happy with that. There are better out there.
Yummee Sandwiches is a cute little shop that is nestled into the corner of this small strip plaza. The menu isn't very big but has all the essentials on it. Lemme just say, I LOVE the bread here. I think the bread at this place is the absolute BEST. It is so crispy but fluffy and not too dry. It is PERFECT. However, I'm not that big of a fan of the meat here. I usually order the grilled pork, and it is just really tough. The flavor is only medicore, and the texture is just not my cup of tea. I ended up just taking out the meat from my sandwich and just eating the bread and the pickled vegetables. The sandwich itself is huge, I always have to ask for a knife to cut it in half to eat it later. The interior of this place is kind of small, around 5 tables I believe? It is definitely more of a grab and go type of place. They also have fresh lemon water out for customers to serve themselves. The service here is friendly and fast, I've never waited more than 10 minutes for my sandwich. I would definitely come give their banh mi a try. Just their bread alone has brought me back over and over again.
Yummee has the best banh mi around. Every aspect of the sandwich is superb. The bread here is NEXT LEVEL. Could it slice the 'ol corners of your mouth? Sure but only if it's amateur hour in your mouth. The bread is crispy and light on the outside and airy and flavorful on the inside. The BBQ pork on the #5 is fatty and super flavorful, nothing short of delicious...I could eat pounds of this. Even the veggies on the sandwich are unreal. The pickled or vinegar-y or whatever prep they're doing to them is perfect...tangy and citrusy enough to cut through the fatty pork and balance out the sandwich without being overwhelming. The menu says it comes with mayo on it...I HATE mayo, but whatever they're using is either not actually on the sandwich or so light and good that the only flavor it contributes is delicious, so keep it on! The #9 shrimp appetizer is great: simple and delicious spring roll with a great peanut based dipping sauce. Boba / tea drink options as well as a cooler of miscellaneous drinks. They accept cash and card. The owners are awesome and super nice. They came to the outside seating area and talked with us and were interested in our English Bulldog. So friendly! COME HERE!!!
I'm on a quest to find my go-to spot for banh mi in the Campbell/Willow Glen area (bonus points if they make a mean Vietnamese coffee too!) so if you have recs, hit me up. Yummee was promising. Ordered a BBQ Pork for me, a Grilled Pork for the wifey, and two iced coffees. First off, the bread is super fresh. A little crunch to the bite with a soft interior. Meat was plentiful and flavorful, but the veggies weren't as crisp as I normally like. Not complaining tho cuz it was a darn tasty sando, and I mowed it down real fast. Coffee was bomb. Strong and not too sweet. A good amount of ice. My steez. Entire meal was $22: $6 for each banh mi, $5 for each coffee, roughly. So not too bad. I'll be back.
My go-to is FRIED TOFU BAHN MI (5.95) and FRIED TOFU SPRING ROLLS (6.50) I love the sauce the spring rolls come with and it's a refreshing snack if you're not too hungry. For my bahn mi, I always ask for extra veggies (+0.75) because I like it stuffed really full. I come here at least once a week. Pro tip: call your order in ahead of time to save 15 mins of waiting.
Yummee Sandwiches definitely lives up to its name. If they didn't, I suppose that would be a bit of a concern. The interior, service, and food are all lovely. Everything is clean on the inside. Even when multiple leave at once and scraps are left on the table, it is cleaned up really quickly. I like how they have the lemon infused water and cups out in the open so could can grab it whenever you want. I ordered a jasmine milk tea with black pearls and the grilled chicken Banh mi with extra veggies. It was cool to try the tea, but I probably wouldn't get it again. I could definitely taste the jasmine, but it just wasn't up to par with other milk teas I have had. It's ok, because they're not a milk tea place. After drinking the tea, half of a sandwich was a plenty and super filling. The chicken is seasoned well, and the veggies are fresh and give a nice crunch to the sandwich. The French bread is also great in terms of flavor and texture. If you're feeling snacky (that's not a word), I'd definitely try the peanut/sesame seed/sugar concoction. I don't know what it's called, but it's sweet, savory and addic
Woohoo! I finally found a decent Vietnamese Banh Mi place so that I can satisfy my craving whenever I have one. I usually go for the Number One which is the cold cut ham, pâté, mayonnaise, picked daikon, pickled carrot, head cheese, cucumber, and cilantro. All of that for under $7. One sandwich is big enough to feed two people. One time I also came here for the Vietnamese Pho. It was good and very much like a homemade Pho.
In late July 2019, we stopped in for lunch. The place is tiny and does a lot of to go orders. No fountain sodas but many to choose from in the display cooler. The sandwiches are absolutely delicious and better than Lee's sandwiches!!
I really like these sandwiches. They are delish and cheap and the owners are very nice.
Wonderfully fantastic little hole in the wall place with inside seating, a TV by the entrance, soda and juice fridge and a easy to understand menu. Wifey and I ordered 3 Banhmi sammy's a chicken, pork and vegetarian along with an order of the spring rolls. Spring rolls are very big, taste fresh and the flavor is spot on 5 stars. The peanut dipping had a strange consistency and was liquidy, the flavor was slightly off also 2.5 stars. The pork Banhmi was slightly dry but overall very good with a hint of heat from the hot peppers 4 stars. The vegetarian, with sautéed mushrooms, Tofu, cilantro, pickled veggies, onions, and peppers was a total surprise to my taste buds. Probably the best Banhmi I've ever had. 5 stars The bread on all 3 sammy's came to us warm, fresh and crispy 5 stars. The person that took our order was super nice 5 stars. This place also has Phò, Pork and rice plate as well as their go to sammy's. They also have Vietnamese coffee and other drinks. Bottom line: this place is super "Yummee" and there is know doubt I'm gonna be a regular here.
This place has really good bahn mi. Although it's more expensive than Lee's, it makes up for it in tastiness. The bread is more flakey and fluffy, which makes the bahn mi easier to eat. I got the BBQ Pork which was great. I would come back because it's still one of the cheapest and fastest food options in the area, while still being healthy. Establishment is small, good for a pit stop to grab and go. TL:DR--- Bahn Mi's are tasty, a bit more pricey than Lee's Sandwich, but still cheaper than most other food options in the area. I would come back.
For a banh mi place in Campbell, this place is pretty good. I've tried the combination, BBQ pork, and grilled pork. It is pretty expensive for the size i get compared to other places in San Jose (but everything in Campbell is more expensive). Their Vietnamese coffee is good too. I just wish that their bread had a little more crunch. These sandwiches are packed with flavor and they do not skimp on any of the fillings.
I live a couple blocks away and we're always picking up Bahn Mi sandwiches here. Believe it or not, the Tofu Special Bahn is easily our favorite sandwich, although I like the pork belly and pate too. Sandwiches are all a good combination of savory, sour, and some spice. Pretty inexpensive and they have a loyalty card. Pretty friendly family run sandwich place. Not a lot of seating here, so I wouldn't come here with a big crowd.
Just ordered through doordash and wow sooo good! The bread is EVERYTHING. Just perfect Often Vietnamese sandwiches the bread can be too hard not to my liking but this place the bread is amazing! Baked toasted a nice crunch on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside!! 5/5 I recommend getting the number 1 sandwhich with extra pate add a fried egg and extra cilantro ! Killer! I also ordered the spring rolls very good and worth the price! The sandwiches are So cheap!! Price is so affordable! I was thinking it must be small because of the price but it's a good portion! Definately worth it! Got the Thai tea with pearls and the pearls were very nice! Chewy and fresh! Addicting! Will be back!!
Absolutely the BEST banh mi (Vietnamese Sandwich) place EVER. I've been coming here for a few years now and I have yet to be disappointed. #1 is my favorite for the sandwiches. The bread is baked daily and the texture of it is just magical. It's crunchy, but NOT TOO crunchy. It's simply perfect. Their grilled pork sandwich is also really popular. In addition, the service is great. The owner is extremely friendly and always has a smile on his face. You can tell that he is truly appreciative of all his customers.
Decent banh mi place in the Campbell area! I've had consistently great service here and the sandwiches are usually ready within 10 mins. They don't skimp on any ingredients and the sandwiches are quite filling. They have a stamp card and do accept credit cards. The restaurant itself is a bit on the small side, though they do have indoor and outdoor tables available. I usually just place my order to go and munch on the banh mi at home. I took away 0.5 stars because of the price ($5.95 is a bit on the pricier side when you're used to the $3.75 price in E$$J), and another 0.5 stars because the bread can be a bit tough to bite at. Otherwise, the quality and tastiness of the sandwiches are top notch
Small place with little seating. But they have very good service and the sandwiches were great. i would go again.
