Windy City Grille

Windy City Grille is in the downtown Hernando, Mississippi area and is a cool place with a definite small-town feel and a friendly overall vibe.

Both the staff and the patrons had a friendly and jovial aura to them and overall, this place had a great feel to it.

Nice hometown dining spot, it has the "everyone knows everyone", feel to it, seating is intimate, lighting is just bright enough to see and not too bright to not be romantic. Menu options are a bit scattered and there is only one burger on the menu, which I found to be very odd, however I ordered it and it was amazing. Perfectly grilled, Kaiser bun and just common old school topping, lettuce, tomato and cheese. Their fried fish is the best in Hernando, and I mean amazing. Weather it's a lazy Saturday afternoon or a hot Friday night, you can't go wrong grabbing some authentic southern food, hot of the grill.

Excellent food, Service is good as well.
We eat there at least twice a week and have
never had anything we didn't like. We love the separation of the bar from the restaurant and use both sides for dinner with family on one side and friends on the bar side. The best in Hernando if you ask me.

I had high hopes for this place. I really love Italian food and was looking forward to some pasta. This was short lived since they decided to simplify the menu (Staffing Issues) to just pizza's and bar food. I had eaten at this place a while back and I remembered the past being very good. If I was the owner, I think I would have focused my efforts on the pasta's and maybe pizza instead of the bar food's. Its seems from previous reviews and my memory pasta is what they really shine on.

The ambiance is nice/casual, its clean, and they have a bar area. We decided we would still give them a chance even though their menu was very limited. We sat down and waited at about twenty minutes before anyone checked on us. I finally ordered a small "all meats" pizza and asked for a salad before the pizza arrives. My wife decided on the Italian Beef sandwich with au-jus and onion rings. I waited on my salad for another twenty minutes before finally getting up to track and ask my waitress about it. Sure enough she had forgotten, so I received the salad about five minutes before the pizza arrived.

Its a shame because the salad ended up being the star of the show! It was very fresh and the dressings were very good. It came with a little crisp piece of toast. If this review was souley based on my salad it would have been a five star. Unfortunately the pizza crust was very dense and for the most part flavorless. Thank goodness for the salad! My wife said her sandwich was flavorless and the au-jus was basically water with a little beef broth in it. I would have to agree because, It looked a little like tea and had no seasoning in it. Her onion rings were not cooked long enough and also flavorless. I hope maybe they will get things back on track later but even for short staffing. I would have to say this was not a good experience. I will try them again later and if its better I will come back and update this review.

Overall..... (Based on a limited menu) I cant say.... I would not recommend this place at the moment. I hope they get get the full menu back soon!

Nope ... Not for us !! Ambiance was beautiful and the place was clean .. the food was cold when it came out .. it was actually disappointing .. pizza was a little burnt as well and my son's burger was burnt on the sides ..I did not enjoy this place .. Sorry .. it truly hurts for me to write a bad review but the food was just yuck !!

The service is terrible. We waited like 15 minutes on our drinks... not alcoholic beverages either.. we place our order, and when we get it, it's wrong AND cold... they do have the best sweet tea ever, though. Maybe they had an off night or something. I'm willing to try again in the future.

Sat in the bar area with my daughter. Very crowded. Service was pretty decent, considering the amount of customers. We stopped in for a late lunch on a Sunday. Food was good and came out quite quickly.

My family and I eat here often and have tried pretty much the entire menu. My mom loves their catfish. It's perfectly fried and hot everytime. My dad loves their chop steak. I love their blackened tilapia and tomato basil pasta. If you're getting broccoli and want it soft, make sure you let them know or else they'll bring it hard. Other than that we've liked pretty much everything on their menu that we've tried (toasted ravioli, wings, seafood pasta, sliders, chicken sandwich, and more). The only two things that haven't been well liked were the mozzarella sticks and cheeseburger. The mozzarella sticks were so thick we could hardly chew them. My son had the cheeseburger and didn't like because it's charred. A little overcharred. Their pizzas are really really good! Stuffed full of toppings! Their chicken tenders are HUGE. Their drinks are great....and strong. So proceed with caution. We've always had great service, even when they're short staffed...which is often. We've only had one issue with service. We waited for a hour to be seated just to be told that management had decided not to seat anyone else due to being behind in the kitchen...yeah that didn't fare well with our children at all. The restaurant is pretty dark. So it can be hard to see the menu if you have vision issues, so be sure to bring your glasses.
