A buddy and I made a last minute tee time at "the Wick" due to not being able to book anywhere else, as well as wanting to be in some decent weather. Arrived at the course about 45 minutes prior to tee time. The range was grass, which would be good if there was grass, unfortunately a lot of dirt and sand due to being used a lot. No biggie.
$45 w a cart on a weekend. Fine.
Got through about 4-5 holes and realized that as I looked around the course, many if not most of the players, were hitting from the wrong fairway most of the time. Like shots going sideways off the tee, massive slices, and snap hooks. On the 6th or 7th hole a guy playing up our fairway (his tee shot was literally 100 yards off line) decided he could aim at the green instead of just playing to his fairway. He again sliced the $hit out of the ball directly at us. Luckily we were able to dodge the incoming projectile. For the next 3 hours we basically felt like we were at a shooting range with rounds coming at us from every direction. FORE! Thwack! Crack! Felt kinda PRSD traumatized after a while! Now let's get to the fairways. If you're using a cart you have to drive at about 1/3 speed otherwise your fillings will get rattled out of your mouth. The combination of grass, weeds, hard pan, and muddy water made for a situation where every lie on the course is ground under repair.
The greens were in good condition compared to everything else. Service was good in the pro shop and restaurant.
Next time, if there is a next time, I'll be wearing a helmet and flak jacket.Helpful 1Thanks 2Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1644101Oct 4, 2023
Played the front 9 in the afternoon and got finished very quick. From the tees, the holes are wide open and I was able to use my Driver without any worries. The fairways are decent, with some overgrowth and crabgrass on some holes. The greens are in pretty good shape and are challenging. I had a fun round at The Wick and the green fees are affordable.

I shredded this course about a year ago (deservedly so). I have to give credit where credit is due. I played there yesterday and you can tell that they have taken their terrible reviews to heart and are making an effort.
The fairways are much better maintained, and the piles of garbage and homeless people that lived on the course weren't there anymore. The course is still incredibly bumpy - riding in a cart is like driving on a cobblestone street where the cobblestones are the size of boulders. The bunkers still have no sand in them. But overall the course conditions have improved to a point where I would play there again.
Years and years of neglect are hard to overcome, but management seems to at least be trying.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Sep 30, 2023Previous reviewThis is arguably the worst maintained golf course in all of Orange County. The grass is so thick in the FAIRWAYS that I lost 3 balls that I striped straight down the middle. Is it that hard to mow the fairways? There's almost no sand in the sand traps. It is like hitting out of packed dirt. The greens are actually not that bad. But getting to the green, even if you hit perfect shots off the tee, you're probably hitting out of a shitty lie.
They also pack 'em in with absolutely no marshall to be found, so expect to play a 4.5-5 hour round. With the sheer abundance of courses in Orange County at a similar price point, I can't imagine I'll golf here again any time soon. - Adam P.Brea, CA010Jun 16, 2024
Always a good time playing here with the boys! Been coming here for 10+ years and never had an issue with the course. Ryan that works the pro-shop in the evening is a great guy! Good customer service. Will continue to come back to here as long as I can play!

You get what you pay for here! First, the driving range is in terrible condition, they could invest in some hitting mats which would be a lot more beneficial than the destroyed grass that is not taken care of at all. The pace of play was decent, a lot of beginners out on the course which slows it down here and there. We had a few groups in front which were 2 groups of 5, that didn't help the pace of play and a few of them were hitting multiple balls. My biggest complaint was the restaurant/bar. The young lady at the bar was extremely rude, complained about "working" and was not accountable for the food we ordered( 4 hot dogs). It took 20 minutes for 4 hotdogs that should probably be ready anyway, her excuse was "oh, the cook didn't hear me yell at him" we had to ask what took so long as she was clearly not wanting to be there.
The course is what it is, $55 one of the more affordable courses in OC but would only play it if I absolutely need too.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Owen R.Orange, CA010Aug 31, 2024
Terrible conditions, slow golfers, the staff was very nice though. Overall just bad golf course, you weren't even safe in the middle of the fairway.

Willowick, where you can hit a beautiful drive down the middle only to lose your ball in a gopher hole or deep tundra. The gopher population definitely out numbers the golfers. I didn't know the gophers at Willowick are a protected species. You need a four wheel jeep to navigate the fairways. Is there a grounds crew? I did see a couple folks riding lawn mowers. Couldn't have been mowing. The terrain would destroy the mowers. Sand traps with no rakes. And they had the nerve to charge me $42.00 for a green fee. Never again. Who ever owns the course, sell it to a developer!! Please!!! Funny they would give you divot repair mix.

They need to fix everything. There were a lot of gophers holes. We even saw a gopher pop up out of one of them. Whoever does their gopher's needs to do a better job. They also need better signage as well we got confused as to where to go between holes.

Dude. The fairways have no cart paths nor any smooth surfaces. It's bump after bump after bump, plus dry dead spots on the fairways and near bunkers. For a 53dollar per person course, there is no Matienence nor course care. This is at best a 12 dollar per person course. Please either adjust prices or fix the unbearable bumps on the course.
