Q:
Generally, when should you bring a dog in for the doctor visit if they start throwing up (ie, should we bring our pup in if dog has been throwing up in small bouts over the course of an hour)?

My 10yr old pit has been shaking his head more often and licking his feet, and just last night began with diarrhea. I've been adding wet food into his regular diet, should I stop?
A:
I'm not a vet but, typically, if a dog has diarrhea you should provide bland food like that steamed plain rice and plain chicken which binds the poop together.

You are risking your pet's life by going here. What a disgusting, abusive, careless excuse for a veterinary clinic.
This place shows zero respect for clients and complete negligence towards our pets. You will get passed around in a sick game of telephone amongst the various unskilled front desk workers whose lack of training and decorum becomes downright malicious as they try and gaslight you when confronted. Each time you call, you will get redirected to someone who hasn't bothered to look into your pets file or check any existing communications or records. These people will literally refuse to see you after asking you to come in immediately due to an emergency they caused. They will not update your phone number on file despite being asked multiple times.
Following a recently botched neuter procedure, these people failed to prescribe my dog the appropriate medication dosage, causing him to be overly active during his immediate recovery period, leading to a tear, then a hematoma, then an infection. Upon consulting a new vet, the dosage they gave my 50lb bulldog was barely appropriate for a cat. Instead of reevaluating the dosage upon our SECOND follow up visit, I was accused of failing to put my dog into a cone at all times (at no point since bringing him home had the cone come off). The dosage I was sent home with was the same.
Do not let these charlatans abuse your pets. Avoid at all costs.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - daniel h.Los Angeles, CA100182Jan 28, 2024
Won't provide estimates for basic procedures (e.g. canine dental cleaning) over the phone.

I received the best care yesterday from Dr. Goodman for my cat. I couldn't have asked for a better, kinder doctor.

Awful management, terrible communication, and grossly overpriced prescriptions.
Strongly recommend looking elsewhere for quality care for you pet.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alanna L.New York, NY1681713Nov 25, 2023
I should have listened to the other 1 star reviews for this place, but my dog needed help urgently, so I gave them a call. My dog's neutering stitches came loose & was infected, so ask them if they would be able to accommodate him & they said we could come by. When I arrived they said they could not accommodate him because they were not taking new patients & are fully booked. They FAILED to ask me if my dog is a returning patient & we WASTED our time at a CRITICAL moment to make the trek over there. I don't recommend this place as their receptionist's oversight could potentially WORSEN A MEDICAL EMERGENCY. Instead, we went over to Veterinary Emergency Group which is a 24/7 ER & a tad more expensive, but you get what you pay for. The receptionist there was extremely thorough during the check-in process & everyone we spoke with were effective & efficient with helping my dog heal.

IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR PET DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE!
They never seem to keep your pets' record. It's insane! They always try to give my dog the same vaccine that we literally just got. For example, almost every visit they ask if we want to give her the rabies vaccine. EVERY VISIT! When they do administer a vaccine, my dog always has a severe allergic reaction that they never want to take responsibility for. Her eyes end up swelling up and, when we call them, they force us to take her to the emergency room and claim it's a "bee sting." Which is ridiculous, as there are no bees in our apartment. To be honest, I don't even trust they are giving her the correct dosages of these vaccines and medicines. As I read other reviews, I don't seem to be alone in thinking that.
Every single time we come here, no matter what we come for, my dog leaves with some sort of weird sickness, panic and fear.
We've been coming here since our dog was a puppy, but it's becoming more and more apparent that they don't really care. They just want to bill for anything they possibly can. They want to run as many tests as possible and suggest pulling teeth left and right (mind you, they had recommended pulling 9 of her teeth as a puppy!). They told us that it isn't unusual to pull all of their teeth... WHAT?! Clearly, this is a business more than ANYTHING else.Helpful 7Thanks 2Love this 0Oh no 2 - Rebekah H.Los Angeles, CA459Nov 24, 2023
I've been bringing my dog to VCC for 5 years, ever since he was a puppy and I've always been very satisfied with his care. I wish they had integrated holistic care but I have no complaints the traditional vet care that they provide. The staff is very nice and the hours of business are great.

I used to go here for years before Covid and they were great but ever since Covid they got horrible (as evidenced by all the other one star reviews). I'm not going to waste your time with reasons not to go here, but instead offer a recommendation. Go to Modern Animal instead. You don't have to pay to see a doctor (VCC charges $75 just to see the doc), you have 24/7 access to live chat with knowledgeable vet techs and everything is run through an app so all records and receipts are in one place. They have an annual membership fee, but it's worth it because you aren't charged $75 for the doctor consult like at VCC. You'll make up for the annual membership fee in your first few appointments. Btw, I don't work for modern animal in any way - I'm just super impressed with them and would never go anywhere else again - ESPECIALLY NEVER TO VETERINARY CARE CENTER AGAIN. Treat your fur baby the way they deserve and run far away from veterinary care center.

DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE!!
Short story - They misdiagnosed my cat for years out of pure lack of knowledge and laziness and my cat ended up dying from something that could have been managed and treated if they would have cared enough to connect the dots and run the proper tests after multiple visits concerning the same issues or even disclosed his records to me properly and truthfully after I MADE them run these tests.
Long story - I brought my beloved cat here for years and the past two he had similar problems which I kept bringing him in for which they always downgraded every time. Not until a couple months ago when I brought him in again for the same issues and made them do blood work (which they did not even offer or recommend to look into his problems further) after doing my own research which is only when they found out he had kidney disease. They then downgraded his results / levels to me over the phone telling me they meant he was in the early stages. They told me the levels but as I am not a vet I didn't know what these terms meant so believed their diagnosis and what they were telling me. A couple months later I had to rush him into MASH (which is an incredible facility but unfortunately only does specialized treatment) after he was profusely bleeding for his mouth, barely moving, and refusing to eat. They got the records from this facility and while explaining to me what was wrong with him and that he was dying I questioned about that they (veterinary care center) had told me he was in the early stages and the specialists at MASH completely appalled and confused by this explained the results and told me he was in the late stages of liver disease when these tests were taken. I ended up having to make the heart wrenching decision to put my cat down then and there because he did not receive the kinds of treatments he needed during that dire time which could have saved his life. Whether if they had been caring enough to look further into what was wrong with him and connect the dots that these were lasting issues or even at the very least had owned up to their mistake and told me how dire it was when they finally found out (which im guessing they dulled down the results to me to save their own a$$ for their mistake) I would not be leaving this review. They are entirely incompetent and stole the life that was most important to me along with the chance to even properly say goodbye. I've had to go to therapy since because of the blame I've placed on myself over his death and not making them do other tests sooner or going somewhere else and getting a second opinion. If you are looking for somewhere to bring your pets please do not take them here and if you are already a client of theirs please go to a different vet and get a second opinion at the very least.
Side note- After receiving the diagnosis from them I asked about treatment outside of diet change which they reassured me wasn't necessary yet but the option they gave me for the future they said they would have to run a multi thousand dollar test on my cat first to see if he would beable to do it because of his irregular beat. Turns out (as I found out from MASH) that test would have been completely unnecessary because they were already aware of my cats heart problem and the treatment they were suggesting had a high chance of killing him on its own. There were alternatives to what they were suggesting that would not have combatted with his heart disease but they did not care to even offer those as they only wanted money out of these extra unnecessary and dangerous tests. Absolutely careless and heartless establishment only after your money and nothing else.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
