Thank you for the few years of veterinary care for my dog Flash. Southwest carrying and knowledgeable about my pets health. Unfortunately after a short illness flash passed away in my arms this afternoon. Unfortunately lack of compassionate quality veterinary Care at the chico Petco attributed to that. Anybody out there don't go to Petco vetco.! Unfortunately we had relocated to Chico California last summer so it was no longer convenient to have him seen that our neighborhood VCA.

They went above and beyond from the beginning to end. My doggie was not feeling well for a couple days so called them and they were very encouraging and positive. They were able to get me in since they had cancellations. Got a call from the Dr and she reviewed the plan of treatment. Right as we were going to hang up our call she remembered I had a procedure needing to get done and said Good luck on your procedure I hope all goes well. That's going above and beyond! Will be taking my pooch here going forward!

My husband and I took our dog and two cats here years and years ago
We, at that time had a very bad experience and moved to Countryoaks Vet... what a mistake
I had the worst service and dealt with the most non-compassionate people at Countryoaks. My cat was super sick they would not see me did not care to hear me out as I was super scared for my 17 1/2 year old cat
I called La Rivera panicking and even though they were super jampacked, they made room for my sick cat within the half hour
Not only were they wonderfully patient caring and accommodating, they took time with us and didn't make us feel hurried or like we were a bother (like the other place)
The vet herself reached out to us that same night with all the blood test results, putting our hearts and minds at ease
The staff and management at La Rivera are so different than they were years and years ago
I highly recommend bringing your furry loved ones here
Every single staff member I was in contact with were super caring and patient
I told the front desk to send for my animals charts from country oaks asap
So grateful

I don't normally review places, but when I saw how low of a score this location of VCA received I felt inclined to leave them an honest review regarding my experience.
Everyone at this location has been incredibly kind to me and my cat. I'm always able to get ahold of someone when needed. Even on their busiest days I can get a call back that day. They're incredibly responsive with their text line as well.
I'm low income, so sometimes I struggle to keep appointments due to financial problems, they're always understanding. They even recommended their care club membership to help with the costs of exams, lab panels, vaccines, and a dental procedure. (Only get the club membership for the dental though, it's worth it.)
This is a rough industry to work in, keep that in mind when you go to any vet clinic. We all love our pets, it gets us worked up when it comes to their care, and the cost associated with it. Over the last two weeks my furbaby was diagnosed with lymphoma and was terminal. The staff was very kind, understanding of my grief and compassionate during his transition. We received a beautiful sympathy card signed by the staff.

I'm glad to see these updated their policy on prescribing quality of life meds for our pets without having to be coerced into what I deem unnecessary and expensive blood work. Especially with the older animals whose quality of life is very important to me. Sometimes dropping 200 plus dollars for blood work might be out of somebody's price range and maybe unnecessary especially if a dog doesn't have that many years left. So anyway it's nice to have the option of signing paperwork to get the comfort meds and it's a step of the right direction thank you very much

I gave this location a call Tuesday morning, December 29, 2020 to obtain an appointment for my cat who was in respiratory distress. I had previously been there once with my other cat, and expected an appointment within the next few days. No one answered the phone. I was directed to leave a voicemail. After several hours nobody called me back, so I called again. At this point I realized nobody's answering the phone... I called the cat clinic of Folsom, and spoke to an actual person! They got me in the same day, at 3:30 PM because they realized the severity of the situation.
It turns out my cat was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. To this day, VCA has yet return my voicemail. I can't believe a business could run this way, this could have been the end of my cat had I not been motivated enough to find another vet and bring him to a competitor. I would advise all of you to do the same. You can't use Covid as an excuse to blatantly ignore a very serious situation. Avoid this place!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Called around to located a prescription eye medication. VCA La Riviera has in stock but won't accept prescription by another licensed veterinary doctor but gladly accept a vet check up and sell us the medication for a couple hundred dollars. It's big business, very greedy VCA. No other pharmacies has it in stock. Thanks for doing the right thing VCA La Riveria.

Some of the people that work here are SUPER friendly, and loving towards animals. Others feel a bit cold, but they are direct and to the point which is respectable.
Our older cat went in for some UTI work and got their "Senior Panel" ... ahem... "deal" for about $600. Results were to come back in about a day, it's been a week with still no information, and no calls saying it will be late. If it's late, that ok, at least call back your customers.
An antibiotic was given for the UTI. When we paid for the bottle, there were two different prices, and the medication bottle said "to treat vomiting" this wasn't for our cat, but they stated it was, and there was just a discrepancy with the billing which was corrected.
The employees here seem to be very flustered, or overworked. We have had to correct several things during the office visit, and to this day we still do not have our lab results and blood work.
Luckily, the potentially wrong medication didn't kill our cat (19 year old Siamese)
I would strongly recommenced going elsewhere is you value your pet's life and accurate care. And or you value you get what you are paying for, because we still have not.
