Really have no words to describe or thank the angels Liz, Dora, Alexandria and Maria Eugenia at this funeral home that helped me navigate this process. From the first phone call they were so compassionate and warm while they walked me through one of the hardest things I've ever gone through. They helped me put together a beautiful service for my grandmother in less than 24 hours. This is a family owned establishment and it shows. Thank you, thank you.

We had a very good experience with Van Orsdel in the midst of having to do funeral services for my father which was very sad. They were very caring and helpful and kind. The minute you walk in you feel such peace. The place is so clean and decorated beautifully and smells so great! Everywhere there are mints and tissues and we felt like we got such undivided attention, including Mr. Van Orsdel himself paying his respects. The staff from beginning to end was amazing, every single person! Cynthia was such a great coordinator and helped us so much through the entire process! The memorial website designated to each person is amazing! You can pay your respects, order flowers, read and watch beautiful tributes and find out all the information you need! We had an unexpected loss and I am beyond heartbroken. Am forever grateful for the kindness I experienced at Van Orsdel. Frank and the other staff members there were absolutely wonderful. We arrived at the funeral home for the initial consultation fully dreading it, being familiar with the pressuring tactics often employed at funeral homes to get grieving people to buy unnecessary add-on items. To the contrary, however, Cynthia, the funeral director, was absolutely amazing--compassionate, understanding and very sensitive to our unique situation. She did not recommend we purchase anything other than what was absolutely necessary. It gave us the space and time to without any pressure choose the type of flowers, urn, service and room we wanted. Cynthia was also extremely helpful in giving advice on all of the logistical questions we had--on everything from the music, slideshow and enlarged photographs we ultimately had at the service. This made a very painful time a lot easier and lowered our stress level considerably.

We would also like to thank Dawn, who prepared the beautiful slideshow on the funeral home's website using the photos we pulled together from friends and family. She said that after reading the obituary we prepared, that she had a good idea of what our loved one was like. Dawn really took the time to understand his life, including his love of travel, and the slideshow really captured his essence.

Many thanks, too, to Mr. Van Orsdel, who attended our service. That meant a lot to us. His daughter, who also works at the funeral home, is also very sweet. We feel very lucky and profoundly grateful to have found this funeral home and recommend it without reservation.

When my mother passed away unexpectedly I was at a loss as to where to begin and what to do. I was so fortunate to have worked with David Gonzalez at Van Orsdel, who showed my family and I at all times compassion, kindness and support. He guided us during the whole funeral process with options that fit our specific needs. But I must say there was so much drama and heartache when it came to a slide show my family wanted to create (to be presented at the service). When my sister in law wanted to give them more photos for it they pretty much have her an attitude over the phone and created a debacle when our family was already grieving for their loss.

The day of the wake and funeral service things were nicely prepared and set up. Everything looked nice and neat. When it came time to leave you can tell the staff was getting a bit impatient about the fact that we still had people saying their goodbyes to our grandmother. We honestly felt rushed toward the end. There was a young lady that worked there and she was probably the nicest of them all.

Now the day of the funeral service was also nice and organized, but when it came time to take down flowers and bring them with us one particular woman that worked there was not very polite. She was quite brash and everything was pretty much a no go. You can't do this, you can't do that, park here, don't step on the grass, no we can't lend you scissors because you'll break them.......I pretty much let all these things slide because I did not want to deal with her. There was a young gentleman that would offer to help me take down the flowers and I appreciated this.....but I was so annoyed by the other lady that I just didn't want help from anyone.

Despite all this drama they still did a pretty nice job but I just think they could've handled other situations in a different way.

The staff at Van Orsdel in Midtown was not only extremely professional, they were also very conscientious and sympathetic.
My family was on a very tight budget for the cremation services and they made sure to keep us right on budget, and helped us through the entire process with ease. They answered all of our initial questions with patience and provided us with as much information about the cremation process and other services provided.
The location itself was very nice. The inside was nicely decorated and looked brand new. They also had private parking on the property (which is a huge plus in Midtown).
Big thanks to the staff for making this process more bearable.
