Q:
Is this place a food truck or an air conditioned building?
A:
It's a food truck that serves you. There is a building you can sit in, but there is no AC just a big fans and there is also outdoor seating! They give you a number and bring the food to your table!

How late (on a Friday) is there usually BBQ available? I see the hours are open later than many places, but is this the kind of place that runs out of brisket around 2?
A:
I've visited them on Fridays, for 6pm dinner and was able to get BBQ and most of their sides. They don't usually run out of brisket, at least not in my experience, by 2pm on Fridays. It doesn't mean that they'll have the entire menu available at… more

Best barbecue ever!!! Sides you can skip on, the coleslaw does slap though. Everything else was meh. The barbecue stole the show especially the brisket.
Fast service, cute ambiance in general. Love it. Will be back

I had some leftovers for breakfast the next morning, and it tasted... immaculate. I don't say this lightly as I have been to many BBQ places around Austin. For the price point it is decent.
The sides you can skip on. They were not worth the price, aside from maybe the coleslaw. That was pretty good. The restaurant vibes are vibing!! There were doggies !!!
Service was quick and you leave your plates after. WILL BE BACK - Jonny B.Austin, TX3861Mar 17, 2024
I would eat at Valentina's s as often as I could, when they were on Manchaca Rd. They were amazing; from main dishes to sides. Sure the waits were long at times and if you showed up owned the end of service of course they were out of some food items.
This might have been my finial trip for me at their brick and mortar. Sure I had gone to support them after their move. There were some issues with food being out and other new business growing pains that I gladly ignored.
Our meal on 3/17/2024 was eh. They were out of most of everything by 1130am. They still had brisket, pulled pork and chicken. The meat was still pretty good. However their sides were very disappointing. Beans- no flavor or salt. They were just warm by the time they got the table and were ice cold in 5 mins. It didn't matter I didn't go back for a second helping. Coleslaw- no flavor and not really dressed. It was crispy and fresh. Guacamole - no salt or flavor. They were good avocados.
We asked for topo Chico, when ordering and the server said that they had to go to the cooler to retrieve them after they ran my card. When they returned they said they didn't have any and then just stared at me. I asked if I could have a glass for water instead and if they could refund me. They said they would have to give me cash because they couldn't put it back on the card. So I lost out on the tax and they and tip that I put into those.
The other servers and kitchen staff were all like walking zombies. Not a smile, hello or how are ya.
I am very disappointed to see such a fantastic food truck loose so much of its charm and good food. I guess it's good they moved to Buda now I don't have to think about them every time I drive by. I don't want to see them fail. It is really sad.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - 2041991134Mar 13, 2024
Arrived 3pm on Sunday, we were in line for 30+ minutes, then waited 30+ minutes for our food. Sadly, there were many items sold out on the menu. Queso and chips were sold out. I ordered a brisket taco and a chicken taco, and the potato salad. All was delicious, especially the homemade tortillas and that brisjet! My daughter ordered the beans and they were so good!
Pros: food is delicious
Cons: sold out of many menu items, not staffed to accommodate customer volume, tables not tended to, napkins and utensils not stocked, workers in kitchen not wearing gloves.
Overall, the food was great, but there is an opportunity to staff more accordingly.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2 - Miranda L.Sinton, TX100811Mar 10, 2024
One star for the corn
Otherwise the service was horrible, wait times to order were crazy, the vibe in the restaurant felt hostile due to everyone waiting so long for food. A few people were requesting refunds while we were there
I don't usually leave reviews but it's SO bad. Don't waste your time.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2 - Mar 11, 2024
I had the smoked chicken fajita taco at noon and was still obsessing about it at 6 that night. So delish. The slaw was also amazing.
I will say they must be struggling with help as it took awhile but honestly no more than any busy Austin restaurant.

Absolutely worth the drive from Austin! Unlike a regular bbq joint, Valentina's offers fresh tortillas with their bbq and it is absolutely a game changer! The brisket is fantastic and the sides, particularly the slaw and the grilled peppers/onion mix, are really tasty. The corn is alright, but I wouldn't order it again.
I will absolutely be returning. One of my favorite bbq places in the central TX area for sure!

Came in around 11:30 last Saturday for brunch/lunch and the line wasn't long yet. I assumed we got lucky it moved fairly quickly. We ordered 2 brisket tacos and the cerveza beef taco off of their "Mex" menu and shared a margarita.
The meats were very tender and flavorful. It gave us energy to continue our day filled with activities like kayaking and hiking. The ambience is casual with a great community vibe. There were plenty of bench seating and booth seatings.
The restaurant started as a food truck and now has this beautiful brick and mortar in a cute shopping center located in Buda,TX. We will definitely be back again next time we visit Austin.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 20, 2023
My not so recent breakfast experience at Valentina's Tex Mex left me with a belly full of happiness and a newfound appreciation for the Texan breakfast scene. Based on recommendations from my foodie friends, I dove straight into the Real Dear Holyfield, and I'm still savoring the flavors in my mind.
What set my meal apart was the addition of smoked brisket--an absolute game-changer. The portion size was generous, making it a full-sized meal that left me feeling completely satisfied. The speed at which the food arrived at our table was impressive, and each bite was a celebration of Tex Mex goodness.
The restaurant's casual vibe creates a laid-back atmosphere, perfect for starting your day on a relaxed note. The fact that it's dog-friendly adds an extra layer of charm; being able to enjoy a delicious meal in the company of your furry friend is always a win.

These ribs were perfection! Perfect bite. I ordered more because these weren't enough. I should have bought an entire rack.
Whoever ran the pit this day was on fire (no pun intended)!
10 stars on the ribs.

I've been to the original and my first time at their new expanded restaurant. Good 'Que here.
The staff were great. Restaurant clean.
Ribs were undercooked. I literally had to gnaw at the bone to get it to pull. The taste profile is killer, so perhaps I just got bones from a rack that wasn't quite ready.
Spicy sausage wasn't spicy, but had good flavor. Brisket was solid.
Star of the show are these pork carnitas tacos, you hear me! Wicked good. Flavor bomb. - Feb 10, 2024Updated review
I wanted to give a second chance to this place as everyone deserves a second chance in life. Unfortunately, it is worse. I was in the line 10:50 am. The cashier had issues with a customer and his payment something she could not figure out. In addition, she was extremely slow. After 10 minutes it was my time to order, and i was told i cannot order breakfast tacos. I tried to explain that I was in line and it was taking forever etc. They simply said no and it was still 11:00 am. There is 0 customer service. If you continue like this even your food is good you will not be succeed. Anyone who wants to experience this is extra ordinary customer service. This is your place.
Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jun 16, 2023Previous reviewI have been several times on their previous location, and I was super happy to try their opening so I went today. I was super disappointed. After waiting in the line to order 30 minutes. I was told waiting time was one hour go get the food. I truly understand this is the opening day, but I am %100 percent sure things can be handled better such as being respectful to customers why waiting time is so long. Nothing we can do vs we are sorry about the waiting time. We will do better.
I hope they can get their stuff together.
