We're regulars at Uncle Yu's, but tonight's Mongolian Beef was noteworthy....extra tender and delicious beef. Perfect amount of sauce, onions, and red peppers. Great with the excellent BBQ Pork Fried Rice.
True, it's only a 3-mile delivery, but still, extra points for fast delivery of piping hot food!
Thank you Uncle Yu and thank you Grubhub!
This place has a wrapping and packing technique that is both novel and effective...a simple slip-knot in the thin plastic bag keeps all the heat trapped inside. Just one pull on the correct string and....it pops right open. It's brilliant!
Bonus egg rolls are a nice touch too...Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 3953119Dec 28, 2023
This is a takeout only type of Chinese spot, you don't really want to eat there as it's in a weird-ish type of parking lot and the ambiance inside isn't anything to be excited over. Now that I've disclosed, that I won't let the inside affect my rating because I always go there with the expectation of carry-out only.
The beef chow fun is the best I've had in the area. The noodles are firm and not overcooked to mush, and the quality of the beef matches the quantity. Some Chinese spots have a negative combo of both so this was refreshing to see. Another great dish is the chicken wings, they are a really good sized wing, and they give you around 10 wings which is more than respectable.
Other dishes I've had are the Kung Pao Chicken, Sesame Chicken, and the Beef Chow Main. All are very good and the portion sizes will leave you with leftovers.
If you are going during lunch time I recommend the lunch combos! You get an entree with fried rice/white rice/chow mein.
Service is quick, efficient, and easy. Pricing is what you'd expect from most restaurants.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Gandalf W.Hayward, CA7188191Dec 2, 2023Updated review
The food does not disappoint.
I got orange chicken, a whole order, steamed white rice, and a package of fortune cookies.
Everything is fresh and yummy and still warm when the door dash driver delivered
give this place a try you will be glad you did
Bon appétit.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 22, 2023Previous reviewI ordered orange chicken through DoorDash, and it was positively delicious. Fresh, flavorful, and generous portion.
If you haven't tried this restaurant, give it a try you won't be sorry you did.

First time to visit this restaurant for Togo dinner, they only offer Togo but no dine-in.
The price was pretty reasonable, with big portion definitely .Ordered Shrimp fried rice and beef chow fun , where it was big enough for two dinner of two. :0. But seems like those were too heavy in msg. I was wondering if I should ask them to skip the msg in my next visit. anyway, good for Togo dinner .Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Major R.Ripon, CA1302256Mar 25, 2024
Was in the mood for some Chinese food, so I searched up a spot close to my shop. Found Uncle Yu, and it had good reviews, so I tried it out. I went up to the door that said Order Here and walked inside. They do not seem to be allowing inside dining at the moment, this may have to do with the recent resurgence of covid cases or other reasons. I was planning on taking it out anyways so it wasn't a bother. I asked the waitress if they had a plate with Kung Pao chicken and fried rice, and she said yes. I waited about 15 minutes in my car and went up to the door that said Pick Up Here. The to go box was stuffed to the top and had a good weight to it. I got to my car and opened up box, the food was steaming and smelled delicious! I was very hungry, so I dove right in. Everything was fresh and hot. The Kung Pao had a medium spice level. This was the first time I had seen the red peppers diced up and mixed in with the dish, so I was expecting it to be a lot spicier. There was plenty of chicken in the dish, and it was not overwhelmed with too many vegetables like some places do. The rice was very good and had nice pieces of pork throughout it. Sadly, the parking lot around this shopping mall is very cluttered with litter, but it seemed bustling nevertheless. The family who served the food were very nice. The prices were very reasonable, especially for the portion that they provided! I will definitely be back to try some other dishes!

Bbq rice & entree : $15.70
Bbq rice to-go : $13.90
Never again . Such a rip off . I wanted to end my review there, but it needs more description .
So - place is in a unsafe area . Filthy shopping center . I can get rice & two entrees across the street for $10.50Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 16, 2022Previous reviewSo i grew up where Chinese food is much less expensive at very high quality. Even the food at regular stores are legit . That being said, Hayward Chinese food is kind of a mystery to me ..
That being said , I've came here on & off for a few years now .. its especially awkward now with covid , because this location is kinda grimey on the outside, and u order & pick up food out of the windows / entrances of their establishment.. they were using cheap packaging / other peoples containers to same money (im assuming) ..
So . The order of Szechuan chicken is great size portion, but is $14 .
Mongolian Beef - same thing - great portions, but is $14 also .
The rice plate pictured, cost about $14 as well .
Now - this place has great food for take out, but is not cost efficient and takes some time to prepare.
As someone that looks for food places in the area , its not ideal , but its tasty . But u better be making decent money, if u wanna eat here regularly. - Mystery M.Fremont, CA36678271126Jul 8, 2023Updated review
Been coming here since before the Pandemic occurred and have to say the food and the quality have managed to stay the same despite everything going on.
Really good food here, love the Singapore Style Noodles and the Curry Beef Stew. They don't skimp on the portion sizes either.
If you check in on Yelp, you can get a free scoop of ice cream with $30 or more purchase.
The service is pretty good here, it seems like a family run restaurant, so that's a plus, it's always good to support local businesses.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Dec 13, 2021Previous reviewFrom the outside of this place, you wouldn't think much of it. But it's actually pretty good! The selection here is limited, but the quality and taste is excellent!
We always order the same things. Some things we've tried and liked:
Braised Tofu
Beef Stew
Curry Beef Stew
Salt & Pepper Squid
Singapore Style Rice Noodle in Curry Sauce
Things we tried and thought were okay:
Salt & Pepper Pork Chops
Salt & Pepper Tofu
Chicken Fried Rice
We tend to stick to our usuals here as the menu is limited and what we get is pretty delicious enough!
Pro tip, is to order in advance by calling your order in. The wait time can be forever if you do not call in advance. They are only take out currently, and they do get a lot of business! Another tip is to shop at FoodMaxx, because on the back of the receipts are coupons for discounts here.
The customer service here is okay, sometimes your just standing around, while you wait for someone to assist you...but other than that, they are friendly enough.
Check in on Yelp for a free scoop of ice cream with a $30 or more purchase. They take cash, credit cards and even Apple Pay! :) - David H.Fremont, CA25864Feb 13, 2024

Ordered the vegetable chow mein and it really lacked flavor... not sure if it's bc there was no meat to add any taste to it. Also ordered the garlic eggplant which was pretty good and actually added the flavor to the chow mein when eating together.
