I don't understand some of the negative reviews on here, guess I just got lucky. I find Uber very helpful to me, especially since I don't drive myself. They never seem to be very far away when I reserve a ride. Very reliable service.

uber is expensive! additionally they charged a $150 fee but there is no easy way to dispute or even find out what the Harte was for. since this is how I get to and from work, this extra charge was devastating. the charges are never the same, even though it is the same trip. in short, they suck!

And the surge pricing drama continues! I scheduled a ride at $22-27 at 5:45 am (Florida) (my phone readjusted to central when I got home) my driver accepted and was on the way.
I was IN the VEHICLE! And received a text saying "Fares are higher due to increased demand. You can cancel in the next 5 minutes without a fee. Please be ready when your scheduled ride arrives."
I was already in the CAR! I got to my destination and was charged $41, I contacted customer service about the problem and explained I was in the car and never accepted the surge charge!
I have attached conversation- they WONT adjust the fare the only offered $10 a credit for my next trip, I don't want a credit, this really is the final straw with this service. I don't want to find myself in this situation again, what if the surge had been $100 and I was already in the car!
You can't get a live person on the phone, I've gotten a scripted response from three people and I've attached the screen shots showing the fare was already agreed as in place at the lower rate and the surge notification happened after I was picked up. But they won't acknowledge it or make the proper adjustments. So frustrating!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 17, 2017Previous reviewUpdate - 5-5-18
My most recent experience with surge pricing was over the top and was NOT given a quote or opportunity to reject the fare..... because

1st noted our driver was professional, friendly and safe.
Uber IS A SCAM SERVICE!
We requested an UBER for a local festival and charity event. The event was 13 miles from our home and the initial fare was $16.
Fast forward to the end of our evening. The event had discounted taxi service available, taxis were lined up. We had a choice. We chose to use Uber. Bad decision. Our return fare for 13 miles was $55!!
What??!! "Surge pricing" excuse me! After my experience I began researching this, it seems several people have experienced the end of the evening "surge price".
Never again! At least with a taxi service the fares are regulated and consistent.
We tried the service, we *might* try it one more time.... but if we experience a rate hike like that again uber will forever lose our business and I promise we will tell everyone we know about our experience. - Jun 11, 2015
.I have been a fan of Uber since first using the service in Chicago, and I immediately knew that I would be using Uber on my most recent trip to Kansas City, especially considering their lack of transit. I really only used UberX three times while in town, however each time it was a great experience.
Prices were fair, during my time using UberX the base fare was $1.50 + $0.18/minute + $1 Mile. Still cheaper than a taxi, and that price covers up to 4 riders. One thing that does bother me is Surge pricing, this happens during peak hours when riders outnumber drivers. It serves as in incentive to get more drives on the road, however it comes at the expense of the customer. Luckily I never had to deal with Surge Pricing, as there were more than enough drivers.
All of the cars that picked me up were clean, and all the drivers were friendly. Overall UberX provides low cost transportation via their app along with a fare estimate. I will say that the fare can slightly vary due to path taken and time in traffic, however my experience was that the estimate provided by Uber was pretty much spot on.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Merri H.San Francisco, CA32Apr 5, 2021
WTF...Uber charged me over $5 because I didn't want to wait 20 minutes and opted to cancel my ride. Obviously, they don't care about any future business from me.

UBER FRAUD ALERT!!! UBER STEALS MONEY FROM THEIR CUSTOMER'S BANK ACCOUNTS. IF YOU HAVE UBER, CHECK YOUR BANK STATEMENTS. They started charging me monthly for some "Pass" I had never heard of, got within a million miles of signing up for, or used (I used Uber about twice a year) and when I noticed it, after four months of $24.99 charges, they would only refund me for one of the months. It's in their records that they stole $25 a month from me for four months, and they did not deny that they had done it, they just chose to steal $75. And a Google search reveals that they do this a lot. AVOID UBER. THEY STEAL FROM THEIR CUSTOMER'S BANK ACCOUNTS. And again, if you have Uber, check your statements.

They are horrible I have had a guy put his hand on my leg several times when I removed it. UbEr did nothing. Then twice I have been charged 6$ for being left when I asked them to type in the gate code to let me out. Lyft has no problem doing it Uber just doesn't do it or can't figure it out I write it in the instructions and text them and call them and they kept denying the phone call.

I am an Uber fan! The first time I used Uber was in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The driver drove us to Miami. The fare was $40 but with a promotion code from someone, I paid $19.92. You don't have to pay a tip unless you want to.
If you need a code for Uber use sherryw232.
I used Uber 4 times while in Florida and never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be picked up.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
