If the tickets weren't so cheap, the rating would probably be lower. But $6 for a ticket? I haven't seen such a thing at a major chain since the 90's.
I believe it is only so cheap for shows before 6 PM, but that is still great. It's also a UA/Regal, so you know the popcorn is really good and you get the free refills on your concession items.
It is kind of hidden and tucked away in the corner of a mini-mall, and the screens are pretty small. But at less than half the price of tickets today, there's really not much you can complain about here.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Boris B.Staten Island, NY1665Feb 4, 2016Updated review
UA (UNITED ARTISTS) HYLAN PLAZA 5 is a movie theater located in the New Dorp section of Staten Island, NY.
It was there where I gathered with some friends to screen a fantastic film. But was even more fantastic that we enjoyed the film in 3D. You are given a pair of glasses as you purchase your tickets.
Below is my film review:
THE FINEST HOURS is an incredible tale of heroic preparations and movingly beautiful, yet thrilling. The impact of the drama and love reflected in this film will leave the core of your heart crying out for solace and elation, as it was based on actual events.
It was 1952, when the SS Pendleton's human cargo had to be recused by the U. S. Coast Guard. The ship broke in half during rough seas and put the lives of the men in extreme danger, as they went through extraordinary measures to survive and return home to their loved ones.
I highly recommend that you go see this movie. You will no doubt be amazed.

Just try to picture a group of adult men snapping jokes at each other and at the sometime trying to be inconspicuous.
Today was no different from any other day that we have gathered together to indulge in some Sunday movie outing.
Below is my film review:
THE REVENANT is a gritty,, heart-pounding, adventurous, emotional roller coaster, heart-stopping action, raw, incredible, beautiful cinematography, heart-wrecking and riveting.
Leonardo DiCaprio gives a Oscar worthy performance in this film and it will be well deserved if he wins.

Nothing can beat these prices, especially for a matinee show. However, be warned... The address takes you to the back of the building, be sure to enter from the shopping center.
Comfortable reclining seats and delicious popcorn make up for the dingy environment.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michela I.Anchorage, AK117124283Aug 29, 2015
One of the main reasons I love this place was for their pricing.
It also helps that this was the first theater I had ever been to and seen a movie at. It was Runaway Bride with Julia Roberts with my mom. This location had always been so good to me, their pricing was my favorite. It's like $6, if you go during the day. Pretty clean if you ask me and you don't look at the floor. Can't beat that!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Steph A.Brooklyn, NY241215203Oct 28, 2015
I'm a Staten islander an I love me some shopping, great when it's all in one area. Parking is always good Kmart is my favorite spot telco dollar tree chase models toys r is, even the movie theater which isn't that great but cool for a cool matinae flick.
I mean all in all whatever you need is here, pathmark which unfortuentleny going out of business an not to far away is home goods, Sally's an a bunch of other shopping.

Tickets are ridiculously cheap and the workers are really cool.
If you want 'fancy' you won't get it here. But with these prices I'm not complaining in the least.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Christina M.New York, NY29848452Jul 11, 2009
Oh the memories! I have frequented he UA theater in Hylan Plaza since I was in high school and last night, when I went to see Bruno there, all the delightful memories of 16 year olds with gold chains, short shorts, hot dates and too much hair gel flooded back in full force. I went here with my first sort of "boyfriend" and I remember standing outside waiting for him and checking the messages on the beeper he had "acquired" for me. Oh, good old Staten Island!
The theater is sort of broken down and there certainly isn't stadium seating. It's basically a place for people in the neighborhood to go for convenience's sake. They always get the top 4 or 5 box office hits and you know you're good to go.
If you're sixteen, the Hylan UA basically is seen as a place to make out, stand outside and smoke, text, fight (I've seen the cops go in here and push some guy, cuffed, into the glass doors on the way out) and eat Nino's pizza afterward. Since it's sort of in a remote area, you're pretty much guaranteed a ticket to a show, even if it is opening night (Bruno is a case in point).
You've gotta love the Hylan UA. I hope the other more massive, luxury movie theaters don't push it out anytime soon because I'd be heartbroken.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Matthew G.Staten Island, NY011Aug 11, 2014
I love this theater! The before 6:00 tickets are only $6.00! Most theaters are $9.00! Yes it can be dusty sometimes but the staff are great not like the stupid "Atrium Theater" staff. I was sold out for the Lego Movie and they reserved a ticket for me! Picture quality was great! Love it! 91/2 out of

Small, limited movie selection, subpar staff... However, tickets for movies are dirt cheap! I mean $5.50 for a matinee and i think $8 at night, that is simply unbeatable!
Don't come here looking for a luxurious movie experience, but do come here to catch a movie no frills attached. Once again with prices that cheap can you really complain?Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aspen B.Staten Island, NY671Aug 20, 2014
When I'm here all I'm thinking is " This place is awful, who would come here? Why am I here? Well, it's pretty cheap, so there's that."
It's is in a plaza, the same plaza that has a suit fitting place, dollar tree, Huntington, etcetera, so it's in a pretty odd location . Needless to say people don't really come here too often . This place is so small that I have nothing to compare it too. Dollar tree is bigger than this place. However, the prices for tickets are pretty cheap , but not cheap enough for most people to trade in their regal movies card. Even though regal movie theaters is a bit pricier , it's huge and amazing.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
