My dad has always used TXU so when I got my own place, I decided to get them as well. There are many reasons why I choose to stay with them as opposed to going with any of the other guys.
1.) They offer cash back rewards. I don't know of any other company that gives offers this. My dad and I get the 2 year locked in rate and at the end of each year, you get 3% of the money you've paid back. I recently saw that they offered a 3 year plan with 6% cash back.
2.) They have 24/7 customer service. I also read in the newspaper that they opened up 2 new call centers in Texas so that definitely helps out with the language barrier.
3.) They do not offer variable rates. A lot of my friends went with other guys who lured them in with such a cheap rate (7 cents/kwh). They didn't realize that would only be for the first few months and then their bills spiked and so did their rate. I'd rather have my price locked in. I'm sure if given the chance, people would do that for gas as well!
4.) They offer average billing. Basically it averages out your bills so you pay around the same amount each month. This really helps out in Texas since we have extreme winters and summers. A lot of my friends haven't chosen this so they get that huge spike in their bill when summer comes and they have to crank up the a/c or when winter comes and they crank up the heat.
5.) I don't know if anybody that has TXU has looked at their bill but they have a section where you can donate money to their energy aid program. It's a program to help people pay for their electric bills that are in not so good situations. I'm privileged not to have to use it but I know it's there if I ever need it. - Mary S.Dallas, TX3251/5/2023
I called to ask about their rates. That is all I wanted to know as I was comparing prices that a normal person would do before obligating themselves to a company. They were very aggressive for me to sign with them. I eventually hung up on the agent after deciding I could no longer disconnect politely. He called back three times and I hung up on him three times and told him to stop harassing me. Today, I received another phone call and I hung up again. I had to block them. Do they really think I have reconsidered and want to be obligated to them? Now I know to never dial their number again. Be careful.

The WORST company EVER!! They are a MONEY HUNGRY lame company. They will put a hold on your account to switch if you are even 100$ past due. TXU ENGERY is only after your money with high as Market rate bills. Bill keeps going up each month $190 and I live in a 3 bedroom apartment.
BE WARE- if you were even $100 past due on your balance, they will put a switch hold on your account to where you cannot go with any other company. I spoke to the manager who told me that I can pay a certain amount and take the hold off and then was told five minutes later that they never said that and they couldn't do that so they're definitely after your money. - Ayman B.New Britain, CT17212/22/2022
Very bad electric provider, will try to rip you off when you finish your contract with them.

They provide generally good services. Their customer service sucks at times though.
In terms of affordability, I'll give them a 5 star rating. - Ryan M.San Antonio, TX1473478/26/2022
TXU is somehow still in business after scamming what appears to be soooooo many people. I bought a business and the prior owner was paying less than $100/mo through Reliant. For whatever reason I went with TXU, but they don't tell you about the base charges and delivery charges that are astronomical and variable. And somehow the kW/h's used just keep going up and up and up even though I am at the business only 1 day a month as now I'm running it remotely. The old owner was there nearly every day. Customer service is mostly run out of China or India it sounds and not helpful at all. STAY AWAY

I would look to any other energy provider before you do business with TXU Energy. I rarely leave reviews but their shady business practices leave me no other choice and I have already filed a complaint with the BBB as well. I purchased a new vacant duplex back in march and started service on both sides with TXU Energy. When my first tenant moved in to one of the vacant sides, they used a different energy provider but my account for that side was automatically closed and I only had one account remaining for the correct address on the vacant side.
My next bill arrived and it was 5x higher than my previous month ($240 for a vacant unit) which made no sense as I have the thermostat off and only appliances plugged in. I called TXU energy to inform them and after many back and forth phone calls and long conversations with many unhelpful reps they submitted a ticket and told me it could take up to 21 days for them to get back to me. I told them I did not want to continue to pay if it was charging me high energy usage and they said not to close my account and they would take care of it. This advise cost me an additional $100 in energy usage and after a week or so of no response I called to close my account to prevent further charges.
I finally got a call 3 weeks later from their resolutions team saying they investigated my claim and the charges were correct. That's it! No explanation and nothing further I could do. He even made a point to try to blame my tenant for them not using TXU as their energy provider.
Then most deceiving of all, the original bill with the charges had the correct vacant unit address on it, but when I went to look at the final bill with the $240 + the $100 in additional charges that accrued during the investigation, TXU had switched the address to the unit that was occupied! Same account number and everything to make it look like I was paying for an occupied unit.
I would advise anyone reading this to not do business with this company. - 1Stop Travels I.Austin, TX0111/18/2022
By far the worst company I've ever been apart of. I go from $80/ month to damn near $160 with less usage. Makes no sense to me, it'll be a matter of time this place is under. I cannot tolerate taking advantage of people.

Don't do it.
Do. Not. Do. It.
Goodness gracious, my bill is $300 in a 956 sq ft apartment. No ma'am. My bills have always been high and I have to pay $150 to cancel. I'm about to start a gofundme so I can pay this $300 bill and $150 to cancel.
you're welcome,
A stressed TXU customer - Sheila S.Flower Mound, TX12688/22/2022
Only one star cause I have to leave in order to review. They deserve no stars!! Horrible company! I've been told twice by two different "managers" that they will set up a payment plan for my extremely high bill this month. Two payments made this month already $250.00, and they still want another payment to set up plan. Three payments in one month is what they want, even though a previous employee "set up payment plan" for me already. I've never been late on a payment, this is how they treat their customers. Horrible!
