Stop the press, we've got a new king of barbecue here in Tucson. If you're a BBQ fan, you have to stop by.
In the old Mr. K's location at Park and Silverlake is easily THE BEST BARBECUE IN TUCSON. It's a little hard to see, but I'd be driving past it and wondering for quite some time. Today I finally stopped by and boy am I glad I did.
I was met by a friendly man and woman (his wife?) and ordered the sampler, asking him to pick the meat options for me. He chose brisket, ribs, and a hot link and -upon trying each of them - I knew I had made a good call having him decide. All three were delicious and the sauce was spot on.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 21, 2022
Wow I am blown away and taken back to a taste I grew up with. I was raised on great barbecue and this met and past the test of real home cooked bbq. I had the hot link and also the brisket. My sides were Mac and cheese, and greens. All of it, was amazing and I'm going to be back again and again. The sauce was spot on, even though I usually like a little hotter (spicy).

They were only open for takeout when we got there, but they had some outdoor tables that were available, so we got some food and sat outside. The meat was good, the sauce was so-so, and the outdoor seating was uncomfortable. Prices are moderate.

This place is the real deal in Tucson for smoked meat. I picked up a rack of ribs , beans & slaw.
The ribs had a nice rub , not too heavy and the smoke was perfect. Nice presentation and the sauce was on the side . That is the key , these guys know what they are doing in the pit . Tucson BBQ is on notice .Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 1184931580Aug 30, 2018
I came here for lunch. Thy have a set menu and specials that change daily. I had the chicken lunch special with two sides (Mac and cheese and potato salad). the sides were good and seasoned well. I could tell they used real cheese for the Macaroni. The chicken tasted good, but my only complaint was that it was pink inside (pictured)
:( I am not a fan of pink chicken. But the few pieces I had before I got to the pink inside were seasoned well. They have three kinds of barbecue sauces- hot, medium and mild. I had be mild and I liked it. My friend had a pulled pork sandwich that I tasted and that was good as well. They have jazz decor and art all throughout the establishment. The staff was nice and friendly and informed me they opened January 2018. I did not have dessert because I was too full lol but they have Sweet potato salad, poundcake, and peach cobbler.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - May 16, 2020
The hospitality of the man working behind the counter is something alot of business should take notes on. Although there were a ton of specials, we opted to try a couple of 3 meat combos. They came with corn bread, two sides and a drink. I ordered Hot Links, Brisket, and Pulled Pork, Mac N Cheese and beans. My boyfriend got Ribs, Chicken, and Brisket. I love Texas Brisket (love the bark) and this missed the mark. It was dry and a little tough. The quality of the hot link was sub par. It was a little too greasy. The meat grounded up too fine, and the casing was tough. The pulled pork and the chicken were good. I'd definitely go there for a pulled pork sandwhich. I would give it another chance. They have peach cobbler that I need to try. The food overall not bad, I've just had better bbq. Bbq is typically expensive. I'd say they have their prices right for the amount of food you get.

We only found this place because of Yelp. Unfortunately it's not easily seen from the street and could easily be missed. I'm glad we didn't miss it. The food was really good, even what we took as carry out and the service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant itself is pretty no frills, but it is clean and comfortable.

Small, independent, locally owned business, but awesome bbq. Definitely worth checking out.

Really good bbq. Hubby ordered a brisket sandwich and I ordered the brisket dinner. The meal was packaged with individual components which I didn't expect but I do appreciate it because we brought the food home and the sandwich would have been soggy. My dinner came with 2 sides. I picked potato salad and it was very good. I also picked greens which I normally love but for me these were just ok. The service is a bit slow since the owner is working alone but the food was worth the wait. The brisket has great flavor, smoky without being overpowering. We will definitely go back. Another customer told me the ribs were really good so that will probably be our next pick when we go back. It's a short hop from the Costco on Tucson Market Place.
Try this place, good food and you will be supporting a small business owner. Totally worth it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
