Tulip Salon & Spa is an Aveda Lifestyle salon located off of Carl D Silver Pkwy in Fredericksburg, VA. Tulip was established July 1, 2010 with a staff of 6 and has grown to a staff of 22 exceptionally talented employees offering services in hair, skin care and body care. We have created a team-oriented "people-first" environment with an emphasis on advanced continued education programs in Washington DC, New York, Minneapolis and Atlanta. Our mission is to continue to bring premier salon and spa services to the growing Fredericksburg Region.

I had my first appointment to see Tami this morning after deciding I wanted to find a closer salon and looks like I made a great choice! I went in for a haircut, after not having one since last December! She was very kind, personable, and repeatedly made sure I was happy with the progress. She did a wonderful job with my hair and I will gladly be making my next appointment with her.

Beware -- If you have gel nails from a nail salon that is NOT Tulip then they will not do your nails. Found that out after arriving.
You'd think someone who is licensed would be able to do most services. I've never this experience at any other salon/spa within my entire almost 20yr of military life travels. Waste of my time and my elderly mom's time but that's fine I guess. Great atmosphere. Stylist was very nice. Every time I went in for a color touch up, trim and style I never left happy. The color was good but the style was awful. I tried explaining, brought pictures of myself and still i left sad.

I have been coming here since I moved to the area and the salon was in Central Park. I have always had a great experience, and I leave looking much better than when I arrived. Chelsea always does a great job on my highlights, and she is really great to chat with.

Very excited to go to an Aveda salon and spa. Nice ambiance but the stylists are not very skilled. Went to the firat one and got a Jr stylist as I really needed a cut. Brought a pic so she can model the style. She struggled her way through layering and framing the face. Tried a seasoned stylist the second time. My hair cut was so bad i came home and my husband didnt even know what to say because the cut was so bad. I brought a picture to help guide the style and cut. The layers were uneven. She layered my bangs so short they wont stay down without gel. It was a blunt cut vs layers and length. Had to go to another salon to fix the damage. Oh and that cut was over $100. If you are a new client looking for a skilled high quality aveda salon with talented stylists, this is not it. Would not recommend and I am never going back.

Made the appointment. Had a "consult." Stylist was pleasant . New to the field. I discussed my need to cover up the gray at the crown. She even mentioned her mom had the same issue. I mentioned it again as my highlights are being placed, we're covering the gray? Yup, with the gloss. Long story short. No gray was covered. Told me I could come back on Saturday and for an additional 68$ I could get my roots done. Their mess up, yet did not offer to fix it for free or at a discount. I paid for a haircut, and got half of one since she didn't cover my gray, I wasn't about to get bangs to highlight the fact that the grays were there. So for $216 I got highlights and a 1 inch trim.

**UPDATE**
The owner is a joke. I went in today for them to "fix" my hair and bc I posted on social media they decided to cancel my appt but I was not having it! The owner walked me to the station and never once said sorry about the mess up or miscommunication NOTHING of the sort. Then proceeded to charge me $70 to "fix" my hair!! Lesson learned. Do yourself a favor and look at All the 1 and 2 stars this place has received!! There is a reason
I love AVEDA products so I decided to check out their salon. When I called I asked for a higher tiered stylist so I was set up with Kelly. We chatted about highlights and lowlights with my hair and I let her do her thing. After all foils were out in my hair she said she did t need to do low lights bc I had enough of my natural color to come through. All was going well until she pulled off the towel to blow dry my hair and immediately I see ALL my gray hair. So, I said "wait, why do I still see all my grey hair"? She literally said, "did you want that covered".
Uuum, yes this is the WHOLE reason I am here. She apologized and said it was her fault for not asking, then said they only had me down for highlight?? So, she says let me see what time I have that I can get you on to fix it, I'm thinking no problem, I'm not too upset at this point since she will make this right. Then she tells me an associate has an appt available tomorrow and it will be cheaper then her prices bc she is a higher level tier. So, I questioned why I would have to pay for someone to fix her mistake? She, said that I would of still paid for that if she had done it today but would cost more. So, after getting upset saying I think that's crap they decided to call a manager and said manager told them to give me 20% off tomorrow (which will be another 70$ plus new tip bc it's another girl. So, with tip today was 350 then tomorrow expected to pay another $70. Such bad business. Place is nice and has great ambience, but you go for the Aveda experience and I didn't get that. What I did get, new brows I didn't ask for in a shape I don't like because there was no consultation before wax; a lackluster facial with no shoulder massage just rubbing (what happened to the aroma therapy adventure?); and a mani pedi that only lasted as long as I walked out the door, again with a lackluster leg and foot massage. I get a better experience at the local nail salon for less. For someone who only goes to Aveda salons for facials, this was subpar. I won't be back.

Terrible service. The owner is a very angry person.
I had a situation that I wanted to discuss with her and she treated me very bad. Poor customer service.

Becca is amazing! I've been to her 3 times now and every time it's been great. She always listens to what I want and recommends the right styling and cut for my hair type. Curly hair is notorious for being difficult to cut as it springs back. She has always done it perfectly. I've gotten bangs and layers and every time I feel great and look amazing. Seriously can't recommend Becca enough.

I was given Becca, a wonderful stylist who cut my hair perfectly. She started with a neck and shoulder massage and it helped set the tone for the rest of the appointment. She was super helpful, listened to my needs and wants, and was quick to help me achieve my hair goals. I am beyond happy with my haircut and the styling she did. Thanks Becca! Hope to see you again soon!

Been going to James at this salon for over a year and have never had a bad haircut. The staff is friendly and makes you feel welcome. Love going here. It is very relaxing. Thank you James.
