Disgusting.
Knew prior to going that it was a run down casino but wasnt expeceting this.
The rooms are like a scene out of the shining.....and yes...they have bed bugs. Since I was only there because of a business function, I ran like a bat outa hell when i saw them and went to the borgata. -

Stayed here with my parents for the first time under a comp room. In all my years going to Atlantic City, interestingly enough never stayed here in the past.
Sadly this place is closing its doors for good in a few weeks and it's very apparent why.
While the place is clean inside, it's outdated in nature and the building's exterior is clearly falling apart. As we walked in the roof itself near the parking gate was open and exposed womp womp.
Now as for the rooms: Rooms were nice and clean no complaint there, but the beds were really small for two people. Felt like full beds instead of Queens no leg room really. And the sheets on the beds were super thin. That's really it.
The exterior design of Taj is beautiful and I love the ode to India, but perhaps this place is better left dead since it appears to have been neglected all these years.-

I stayed here twice in less than a year and stayed in the Chairman's Tower both times. The views were beautiful. The comfortable king beds gave me a very restful sleep.
The indoor pool was large, clean and warm, like bath water. Attentive lifeguards were on duty.
What impressed me most, though, was the way the staff pulled together and made it work during the strike that started on July 1, 2016. I stayed at the hotel on the first day and night of the strike. A lovely man named Vijay checked me in and Faye at Guest Services happily helped me out when my one key card wouldn't work. They both greeted me with smiles on their faces and couldn't have been friendlier.
Even though housekeeping was on strike, my room was immaculate.
Security helped me feel very safe. I didn't mind showing my key card when it was requested that I do so.
I've seen reviews on here by fellow non-smokers who were complaining about rude smokers, warning non-smokers to not stay here, etc. I've never had a problem with smokers and neither my rooms, the restaurants I've eaten at, nor the guest room hallways smelled like smoke. The concert arena didn't either.
My only issue was a broken water pipe the first time I stayed here, but that wasn't a big deal because I was getting ready to check out anyway.
I truly hope this hotel doesn't close. It would be a shame. -

I went to the to the Trump Taj Mahal at week ago my girlfriend so this is a late review. For starters I must say this has got to be the worst hotel that I have ever been in.
The Chairman Tower room that me and my girlfriend reserved was terrible when got in it, heck I wouldn't want my worse enemy to stay here. I don't understand this is 2016 and felt like I was in the mid 80's in this room, the pics and info on the website lied, freaking bastards. The room had ceiling debris on and under the sheets, and some dried BLOOD on corner of our bed WTF. And what looked like "sperm" stains or something on the carpet. The bathroom shower had stains all around and so did the sink.
At this point I was on pissed off mode, I was containing my anger to not hurt someone at this casino/hotel. So instead my girlfriend called the front desk for assistance and with an attitude they put her on hold for a while. We then went downstairs to talk to the clerk about the problem and all she said was due to the strike the maid was gonna take a "while" to get there. I said nope we would another room, and then she said we can't get you another room you will have to make do. My girl begin to get angry and confronting toward the clerk. I was trying to hold her back because we wasn't looking to go to jail in AC because of this. So the manager heard the commotion and came out the office and tried to assist us. The manager looked on his computer and managed to get us an another room, and refund us $100 for the issue with no apology. SMFH. The second room was better than the first but wasn't perfect mainly because of the reeking of cigarette smoke for a non smoking room. but unfortunately it had to do.
The service is really bad at this hotel/casino, I can see why Trump didn't want nothing to do with it. And as for the strike workers, I just heard you are all gonna be jobless since the Taj Mahal is closing. Hope it was worth it, and from see the other comments from unhappy customers on here you might not be missed. -

NON-SMOKERS DON'T STAY HERE
State laws indicate smoking sections of Atlantic City casinos are to be only 25% of the available space. This is completely not enforced here, people smoking in non-smoking areas... Staff does nothing. Also, on either entrance the smoking areas are front and center. Funny when I walk into Resorts I'm not overwhelmed by smoke.
On an overcast cold day, my boyfriend and I were the ONLY people on either side of the outside pool deck. Some girl comes up literally within 2 feet of us to light a cigarette despite seeing the 25 plastered no smoking signs. Are you freaking serious? Atlantic City caters to smokers like its the 1940's. Told staff she was smoking did not seem concerned.
Now the most problematic issue is that my boyfriend and I have smelled smoke several times in the vents of our bathrooms after being gone all day. Called front desk to verify the entire floor was non smoking, she asked if I wanted a refresher... No I don't need you to come spray Lysol I need you to get security to do something about this. Honestly if you want a smoking room, freaking pay for it or go smoke downstairs. You can hear most activity in the hallway, heard no security come to our neighbors door. Cigarette smoke is more than just a minor annoyance to those of us with severe allergies.
UPDATE: upon returning home all of the clothes in my suitcase, ones I didn't even wear which never left the room smelled like smoke!!!! We are on the 94th supposedly non-smoking floor.
The Chairman tower rooms are beautiful, the bathroom is a dream, views even of the bay side are great. We specifically requested an ocean view in advance at booking and arrived on a Thursday in the off- season to a less than crowded hotel, this request was not honored. Yes it's a significantly farther walk, but it's newer, fresher and doesn't reek like the Taj rooms do.
It's not a secret the taj is past its prime, however relics of the past glamor remain and they are beautiful.
Honestly I'm probably going to complain to corporate about the smoking issues, cause it's NOT ok. -

I just checked out of Taj yesterday, and I am satisfied with my stay. Check in was simple, but from the check in area to room 78 and up, it was quite the journey to a further tower. If you stay on anything lower than that, you will be closer to the casino and everything else. After checking in at 4:30, I found out the pool closed at 6pm, so after figuring out where my room was, I ran to the pool to make sure I'd be able to chill there for a while before it closed. The gym and pool are together in the same area and requires verification of your room number and name. The pool has a adults only time slot, which is 10am-11am. The pools deepest end is 4"8'.
The room is actually very spacious and has a separate door for the bathroom area. The toilet is separate from the shower and sink. I checked my room everywhere for anything dirty or cracked like I saw in other pictures but could not find any. I stayed in room 7821 and it was in awesome condition.
Where is the vending machine? When you exit the elevators, just make 2 rights and you will be there. Soda machines are on even numbered floors and snack machines are on odd numbered floors.
The only thing that sucked was the shampoo/conditioner. You can't consider that anywhere close to a conditioner.
I love that this hotel is right outside the arcade pier, but unfortunately, it was still closed for the season. From Taj to Tropicana, the walk is about half an hour. I love that they have a panda express here.
The self parking was free because I had a trump one card... I read that it was suppose to be $5? My card had actually expired from 5 years ago, so the lady just let me go through.. so I'm not quite sure if its suppose to be free or $5. You only pay when you enter the lot each time, and you can park there for days. Valet parking is $15.-

So to be fair, my last few experiences have only involved a walk from the valet to the food court to pick-up White House, but those impressions have left a mark for sure.
If your business is struggling, has been in bankruptcy and is backed by a presidential candidate, vacuum the floors for goodness sake. It should be business 101 to not have a dirty business. The steps leading up to the food court are disgusting.
If this is your common space that everyone can see, I can only wonder about the cleanliness of the rest of this casino and hotel. -

It is probably the one of the most fancy casino in AC.
1) After you enter, there are 3 multi-million dollar chandeliers.
2) The Taj is on the Boardwalk. Which makes it fantastic.
3) Overall, the building is nice, and definitely an AC landmark. -

If I could give 0 stars I would. Other then the little glitches here and there I get to my room at 115am ready for bed pull back the sheets they are dirty and have crusted boogers on the inside of my sheets that smell like a man who wears too much cologne but the best part is I call house keeping to change my sheets and she transfers me to the front desk that says "our house keepers are on strike so there is nothing we can do for you" WHAT!?!? I spend 200$ for a Monday night and she admit my sheets were not changed bc they are on STRIKE?!? Wow. How about you don't allow people to reserve a room if you do not have anyone to change the sheets!!!! I will never stay here again that's for sure. So basically I'm stuck sleeping with nothing tonight and cannot wait to go home.

My little getaway to Atlantic City and staying at the Trump hotel was awesome. I couldn't complain about a thing. Great restaurants, great casino, great clubs and the room had a great view. Air circulation in the restroom kind of sucked and the water pressure but other than that, it was great..
In room dining TSA was such a joke though. Ordered a choc fudge icecream, 45 mins later brings a peanut butter flavor, called again and they bring a vanilla flavor. And trust me, I work at #1 hotel in NY, this kind of mistake can't happen. I also asked for a pitcher of water and they forgot it. Then I went loca and demanded my order to be comp'ed. Don't mess with me.
There are outlets nearby and so much stores to shop blocks away where we went ham buying discounted stuff. Pier was closed during our visit which was a bummer because I've purchased 80 tickets prior to my visit.
We visited other hotels at night; Cesars & Tropicana which felt more like a modern hotel than Trump. -

We decided to stay at the Taj Mahal for my wife's birthday because of the name and location near the Boardwalk attractions. The location was pretty good, but the hotel is very run down and aged. The casino and lobby reminded me of a shabby Lake Charles or Shreveport casino; musty, smokey, and dirty. Our floor smelled old and musty as well. When we got to the room, it had the original charming decor of the late 80's. Half the power outlets didn't work, and our toilet flusher knob was hanging out of the toilet tank (see picture). We were very disappointed in our stay and would probably either spend more money to stay down the Boardwalk or spend less money at a hotel just off the beach.

Personally was not very impressed with this hotel.
The place just needed some tlc. The halls smelled musty, the elevator was rickety, and the mirrors were overkill. I mean there were mirrors everywhere...all over the bathroom, lining the halls, the elevator lobby.. Don't they know that is bad feng shui?
The room was huge. I really liked the windowsill, it was big enough to sit on. The bed on the other hand was so dinky. The comforter was so thin and the pillows were like little boxes! The bathrooms didn't have nice smell good toiletries.
If you are looking for a grand leisurely experience, go somewhere else. However if you just want an affordable place to stay within close proximity to gambling and the boardwalk then by all means stay here. Just wasnt my cup of tea. -

I have never left a review before but felt that my experience at this dump warranted such. This is the worst! Do NOT stay here. Torn drapes & carpet. Dirty, dingy and very worn room. Decor very dated - no upgrades - looks like dated decor from the 80's. Throw up in hallway. Our sheets were not changed from prior guest, dirty tissues left in sheets from prior guest! The fact that Trump has his name in this building says a lot about him! This hotel is sooo bad. We got our money back and got out Of this dump ASAP! .

I am between a 3 and a 4 trying to decide to weigh more of the hotel side or the other amenities.
Going in December at a cheaper rate was tempting so we headed into town. We paid for a Taj Tower room and got upgraded to a Chairman room but not sure what the difference is. The room itself was fine, but the great point was the view. On the 93rd floor, we could see the whole city and the beach. It is really breathtaking! The bathroom was very large and I liked the sleek look of the shower, but personally would have preferred a tub.
The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. I was a bit annoyed that they claim to go "green" by not printing out any hotel info and having a slide show on a channel. Please, they are trying to cheap out on printing not help the Earth. I would have loved a little booklet describing the restaurants and other amenities in the hotel, especially since they don't have free wifi and I didn't want to drain my data looking it up on my phone. I knew there was an arcade inside but it's very difficult to find and it's in a really empty part of the casino floor. You aren't just going to come across it, you have to know to look for it. It would have been a nice touch to have a list rather than that limited info time consuming hotel channel.
The pool was gorgeous! Well at first. The hours for the pool are pretty crappy, 10-6, but 10-11 is an adults only swim and it was SO peaceful and warm it felt like we were in a tropic location. Then as soon as 11 am hit the kids swarmed in. I guess that's inevitable, but it was great until kids are running around and doing cannonballs right beside you.
The parking was $5 when we checked in but $10 later. Luckily they give you a pass so you can come in and out and for a 1 time use you can park at another casino without paying for their parking. Even though everything looks close together, sometimes it's just nicer to drive.
After walking through some other casinos, this does feel a bit older/less popular. They have SO many slot machines that were maybe 20% in use and a few tables to play games which became super crowded. On a Friday night, these tables were TOO crowded that we were unable to play because we couldn't get close to a table to place a bet. I would think it would be better to take out some slot machines and put in more game tables, especially ones with a $5 minimum instead of a $10 and you'll probably get more people wanting to play if there's less to lose. But then they'd have to pay more dealers and I'm guessing that's not an option.
This place has a fair amount of casual and finer dining options, but very limited breakfast options. I understand no free breakfast, but it would have been nice to have some more dining options in the morning.
Okay that was thorough enough. For an experience, it was cool for a night, but it does seem a little sad. When it's empty, it really feels it, and it's at the end of the boardwalk next to a shut down Showboat. It's a fun time, but you can also tell this place has seen better days. -

I recently stayed at the Trump Taj Mahal for five days for a dance competition for my daughter. To be fair it was during the strike.
The bottom line is that I have stayed at Super 8 Motels that have been cleaner, and with better service than this place.
In the five days we see there, I was not able to get the room leaned or my towels changed, despite calls to housekeeping. the rio smelled from mildew and the windows were so dirty that I could not enjoy the magnificent view from the room.
The casino was empty, the air conditioner/air exchange system was not running, so it was hot, the air stale, and it stunk.
The service people we mostly unfriendly and unmotivated......
The only upside was that the Il Molino restaurant was great....service and foot was amazing! -

We went here because of Donald Trump casino. There is only one thing to say, "It is runned down" I am sure it was once the place to be, but it has too much of the 90's décor on the outside and on the inside the same. I heard the casino is now Carl Ichan's place, maybe he is just waiting to recoup his investment. Anyways I see though that the rooms near the buffet looks really renovated and nice, but the rest looks like a dump. Oh yes one thing to do is go to the front entrance and take a picture which is really nice. We went here to go gambling of course and they have a lot of the older machines which was nice as I made 9 cent bets on each of those and made my way after a 2 hours of gambling ... $10 dollars, but it was worth it since I got to play a lot of the bonus games. Definitely runned down and old and lots of places that was closed during the week.
I can say I went to the Taj Mahal. -

I was in town to run the Atlantic City Marathon. I stayed here because the location was close enough to the start of the race and the price was also quite affordable. I was given a room in the Taj Tower which was the older tower. The room was very spacious with a king sized bed. Because of the low daily rate, my expectations were low and I was prepared for the worst which was all for not since the bed, carpet, bathroom, and towels were all nice and clean. The room came with a mini fridge. When I went to use the in-room safe, it was locked. I called the front desk and they sent up a guy to manually open it for me.
The casino was huge. They have signs everywhere in case you get lost. It's a pretty long walk from the front desk to the parking structure. Maybe it was because I had run a marathon the day before, but it felt like I had walked a mile to get to my car!
There are many food options from fast food to fancy sit down restaurants inside the casino. If you find nothing that you like, you just need to go out on the boardwalk and find a restaurant. Most places should be within walking distance.
If you have a car, you'll need to enter the parking structure on Virginia Ave. Parking was $10 cash. The parking structure is huge, so you should have no problem finding a spot. I made sure to find a spot as close as I could to the elevators. -

Chairman towers are definitely the place to be! Rooms are so spacious, beds are comfortable and bathroom is huge! Stayed here for a bachelorette party and it was pretty nice. The options for food and partying are quite limited that we ended up going to the Tropicana both nights. The taj is on the boardwalk so it is nice during the day to walk right outside when the weathers nice. Overall the casino is pretty outdated with regards to food and party scene but the rooms were more than accommodating.
Will be back to AC...but most likely will stay towards the middle of the boardwalk...
