If you're reading this review...its too late! San Diego's only Original Tommy's location has closed.
The greasy chili cheeseburgers here were one of a kind, and affordable! Especially with awesome social media deals such as $3 double chili cheese burger or BOGO chili cheese burger. The thick fries were fantastic, hot, crispy...unlike the crappy ones at In-N-Out...
You will be missed! :(

Tommy's is bright and looks kinda like In N Out. I tried a double hamburger with bacon. Bun was fresh and toasted. Lettuce and tomato were fresh and crisp. 2 beef patties were thin and well done with a beefy flavor. Bacon was crunchy and had a savory flavor. Overall the burger was solid. Just like other fast food burgers I've tried.
Soft serve cone featured vanilla soft serve which was sweet and had a nice vanilla flavor. The cone was fine. Dairy Queen is my fav spot for this treat.

I was at Tommy's Burgers last week and found out by a manager that this Tommy's Burgers will be closing on Sunday, March 19th, 2023. This was the only Tommy's in San Diego. The other Tommy's are located in Los Angeles. This was really sad news for me because I'm a big fan of these chili cheese burgers and chili cheese fries. Therefore, yelpers, if you have not visited this place by all means, try them before this place close for good. I'm expecting to make a few more visits before that day. Yelpers, let me know if you want to meet. I'm always down for some Tommy's. Enjoy my friends.

I ordered 2 orders of my chili cheese fries at the drive thru. The drive thru person Arielle was so friendly and made sure I got everything I ordered. I always enjoy going to This Tommy's Burgers because the staff like Arielle make you feel so welcome and the food always taste fresh & delicious . Thanks Tommy's Burgers continue to do amazing work. It is very much appreciated. My overall score here is a perfect 5 stars. A definite must try if you're in the area. Happy Holidays my Yelper friends and enjoy.

Extra chili & pickles. The burgers were delicious and thanks Dana for your amazing customer service. Keep up the great work. This is a great place for Chilli Burgers & fries. Aug 23, 2022Previous reviewI was craving my chili cheese burger and chili cheese fries so I went to my favorite place Tommy's Burgers located on Clairmont Blvd. I ordered in the drive thru and the guy was very friendly and provided excellent customer service. His name was Gabe and seemed pretty cool. I told Gabe thanks for being awesome and the food is always delicious. Yelpers, if you haven't tried a Chiili Cheese burger and fries the place to go is Tommy's Burgers. The score today was a 5 star all day. Enjoy my friends.
Apr 20, 2022Previous reviewThis is San Diegos only Tommy's Burgers. It's located on Clairmont blvd. in Kerny Mesa . I was craving chili burgers on my lunch break and I get a hour break. I drove to Tommy's from Mira Mesa and it took 10 minutes. It was BOGO chili cheese burger so I ordered that and regular fries. Adriana worked the drive thru and cooked my food. Adriana was very friendly and fast to make my order. It took about 8 minutes, but it was freshly made and it was delicious . If you enjoy Tommy's burger or Chili burgers follow them on Instagram or sign up on the App to get awesome deals . Believe me , it's definitely worth it. Thanks Adriana again for your hard work and delicious food. You guys are the best.
Feb 22, 2020Previous reviewOn Thursday, February 20, 2020, I was attempting to go to In & Out on Mira Mesa Blvd, but it was jammed pack at 6:45pm. I thought to myself let's try some Tommy's Burgers on Clairmont Ave. This was my go to spot when I lived in Los Angeles. The Iconic Original Tommy's located on Rampart Blvd and Beverly Blvd off the 101fwy. This Tommy's doesn't compare to that one, but it gives you similar flavors of it. This time I asked for extra chili on my two cheeseburgers and an order of fries. Whenever you go here expect to wait a little. I was the only car and I waited for 5 minutes. The good thing is that everything is cooked fresh. I suggest you get it in a box or say that you are eating there. That way food will not be stacked on top of each other and smush everything. When I open my cheeseburger there was definitely chili , but I couldn't really find pickles, onions and tomatoes. Therefore I found the chili was overpowering of the other flavors. Next time, I will probably just go with regular chili on the burgers to keep the flavors and crunchiness of the pickles. I give the food a 3.5 and customer service a 1.5 so total = 5.0
77288681Jul 13, 2022My husband has wanted to come here for the longest time - he heard it started in Los Angeles. That said, we're from Detroit, so we're a bit particular on our chili-style anything.
He said it was worth the wait. He ordered a #3 combo, adding chili to the fries (no cheese) with the chili burger (again, no cheese). The chili didn't overwhelm the burger - perfect amount on there. There was a nice spice to it... not quite like the Detroit-style but good on it's own. The fries were better off without the cheese since it appears it would've been cheese slices versus a melty concoction.
He said he'd definitely come back to try something else or other the same thing. Either way, he'd be happy.

After leaving a superb event at George's Camera out this way, I was anxious to try Original Tommy's World Famous Hamburgers for the first time in at least 8 years! I remember their wonderful chili burgers and looked forward to giving it a new try. I came on a Saturday around noon and it was not busy inside. So I got to get some Yelper questions in and even got a nice sample of the chili! Every bit as good as I remember! The team leader and gentleman who took my order were outstanding in service and courtesy! I battled to choose between a double chili cheeseburger or a single. After much internal strife, the double won! When I got home (I took carry out), It awesome and so covered with chili, I forgot that there were onions, tomatoes, pickles, and cheese on this burger! I must add that the pickle really added a unique taste to this burger. It was pretty awesome! My order was made as requested. I took Number 1 off the menu - the double chili cheeseburger was made perfectly as ordered, in addition my request for no-salt fries was honored perfectly! I didn't taste any salt whatsoever on the fries! I had raspberry sweetened tea for my beverage and those it could have been a tad sweeter. Overall, everything worked out just right with my order and I was very pleased with Tommy's service. It's a clean and well-kept fast food burger outlet that really offers something different to it's customers. That's good to know and will be very much worth the repeat visit in the days ahead!

If you're from LA familiar with LA or a Dodgers fan. Than Tommy's is a place that brings those memories back. San Diego has this location which is cool. The thing here is their chili. So a twist to American faves is they add chili to it. You can order by itself too if you want. I dropped in for a simple cheeseburger with chili and some peppers on the side. One bite and back to Dodger Stadium I go. My tip is you're going to need napkins.

The prices are reasonable and the service is amazing. The restaurant is clean and the staff are super friendly. I will miss this location and now will have to drive at least an hour to get the tommy burger fix.

This is not your normal chain restaurant, from the vibe to the food.
My son and I gobbled up two double quarter pounders!
