This is such a great little spot for treats and sandwiches, etc.
Kid friendly (of course!) and adult friendly.
There is a kids' play area in the back, too.
Everyone is sweet, like the treats sold here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 23, 2009
It appeared like a mirage; a truck selling sweet treats parked on Fifth Avenue on a Friday afternoon. I had heard of this mythical vehicle but when I spotted it en route to happy hour I nearly scared my companions with my cacophonous glee. Only sighting a unicorn galloping through Madison Square Park could have gotten me more excited.
Peter was less than impressed, which turned out to work in my favor as the following conversation will show:
Me: Peter, don't you owe me, like, a few bucks? From lunch? A few weeks ago on a Tuesday when I paid Jane for part of your sandwich? (this is a bit of a stretch, admittedly, however I had no cash and I needed a fix!)
Peter (reaches hand in pocket): Yes...I think I do..?
Me (eying the two bucks he's pulled out): Can I have all of it? Right now?
He then gives me four or five bills which I proceed to hand over to the Treats Truck in exchange for a dinosaur cookie for our other pal and a cupcake baked in an ice cream cone for myself. In my defense, I did offer a bite to Peter but he's not so over the moon about sweets and declined.
In case you want to replicate this experience tomorrow, the Treats Truck will be on 5th Av. near 22nd St. from 4:30-6:30 tomorrow! However I cannot guarantee that Peter will be there to provide you the cash to indulge your habit.Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 17Oh no 0 - Cassy S.Brooklyn, NY267168773Jan 13, 2011
Thank you Treats Truck for always parking on 5th ave and 38th st, south east corner. So reliable. I know I can walk to this corner for a sweet fix* to brighten up my day.
As I'm writing this review, there is carrot cake in my mouth. Moist, flavorful piece of goodness with tiny bits of carrots and the perfect amount of sweetness*. Ah yes, LIFE IS GOOD.**
Total damage: $6 - carrot cake, oatmeal cookie and 2 chocolate chip cookies.
* I hardly ever crave for sweet treats. Food that is.
**Even if it's been a long day, long week, long year. Oh it's only 1/13/11?Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 12Oh no 0 - Aug 13, 2011
This truck is now in the LIC Food Truck Lot on Fridays.
I now have a reason to leave the office for lunch everyday. I walk two blocks and I end up in a parking lot with 2 or 3 different trucks, depending on the day.
Friday was the Treats truck, the Desi food truck and the Frying Dutchmen truck. I had lunch but I was looking for a dessert.
I opted for the carrot cake. And boy was it good. If you ever want to convince me to do anything, carrot cake will lead you straight into my heart and melt me. Well, good carrot cake, that is...
It was extremely moist with visible shreds of carrots. The cream cheese frosting was perfect too. My eyes rolled back into my head and I was in sheer heaven. Too bad I had to come back to reality...
A nice place to grab some sweet goodies. I highly recommend it. They also have a nice hippie vibe to it, and I appreciate the warm, friendly staff.
Also, if you buy 10 items, the next one is free. I am on my way to a free piece of carrot cake!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - 53918422262Apr 17, 2013
Are you suffering from a food coma? Did you have a heavy lunch? Too much ramen/ too much pizza?
Are you bored at the office?
Are you craving something sweet?
If you answer is yes to any of the above questions, the Treats Truck is the answer.
The lady is really nice. She usually has some samples that you can try. My favorite is the rice crispy treat.

Definitely have to follow this truck! Once again, I definitely have to follow this truck! Mexican Chocolate brownie?? oh yeah baby!! Rich, chocolatey awesomeness. And I get my choice of middle or edge....you know what I chose, right? Cookies, cakes, crispy squares, bars....pick your poison.

Geez! What a shame!! Get better service!!
I should probably know better than to get a meal at a"treats" shop but we were hungry and this place had good reviews.
You have to order and pay at the register and then wait for your meal to be ready. From the start, the cashier couldn't even be bothered by the people waiting or that we had questions about the menu. We went back and forth a bit with what we wanted so I asked him to confirm the final order and he just walks away from me. WTF?!?
We both got the egg sandwich with an order of bacon. Now I'm not cheap but when I pay $2 extra for bacon per sandwich, I'm hoping to actually get a few pieces of bacon. The sandwiches were weak not really sure they even had egg in them (check out the photos) and if it wasn't for the extra large bottle of Chalula hot sauce to add some flavor, I might have asked for my money back.
The coffee was another thing... we didn't get it until out meal was brought out to us - after 10 min. Also the server/cashier never came around to refill our cups like he said he would. I had to take our cups and practically do it myself.
The only reason they are getting 2 stars and not 1 is because of their desserts and ambiance. The place is really cute and cheery. The desserts were lovely. Almost got a whoopie pie to go...but then I would have had to deal with the cashier again - not worth it!
Such a shame too...I really wanted to like this place.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Eva G.New York, NY140691546Nov 11, 2009
So hey I found this truck while passing by 38th and 5th, and shelled out $2 because I thought I'd burned enough calories that day to indulge in one PEANUT BUTTER SANDWICH WITH CHOCOLATE FILLING...
Honestly it tasted good, but the texture was crumbly; I'm not so much a crumbler as much as a softy; I saved some of the cookie and microwaved it at home for 13 seconds, and it transformed into a little yum-ball.
Expensive, but for bite-sized indulgences, ya got me.
Make sure get/have a "on your 10th purchase, you get a free treat!" card.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Kimberli M.New York, NY124440164Jul 7, 2007
Oh happy day!!!
When? Last Thursday when I walked outside to find the Treats Truck on the corner near my office!
I bought a box of cookies for my boyfriend to study with.
Then after work, when the truck, Sugar, was still there, I decided to bring a hostess gift of a box to my evening dinner and ANOTHER box to a friend at home laid up.
Everyone likes TREATS, no?
So far I say YES!
Head on over to their website and take a peek! A great idea and tasty to boot. Kim Ima, owner, was running the show all day.
Really - go sign on so you know when she'll be driving into your neighborhood! It can only help those long work days!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 89515003145May 1, 2015
Luckily passed by this place while running errands. Always see it on twitter, but just haven't had the chance to check it out.
The woman working was very friendly and gave me and another girl a sample.
I got a brownie, chocolate chip cookie, and oatmeal chocolate chip cookie today.
All delicious!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
