Established in 2001. The Tomato Place came to be in 2001 here in Vicksburg. It has grown over the years and there is always something new to look at, hear, or taste.

SO COOL!
This place is seriously one of the neatest places ever. It's green and lush and inviting and the women who work here are so relaxed and nice you just want to stay forever.
Try the food and you REALLY never want to leave.
We had the tomato sandwich, the fried green tomato blt, the Mac and cheese, the fried yams, the okra, scrambled eggs, french toast and fries. Also peach cobbler and pound cake.
All of it was seriously good. Best sandwiches ever and their pound cake was the only one I have ever tasted that resembled my own homemade version.
They make a homemade syrup that is so delicious I could drink it.
I would eat here every day if we lived here.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Kristi E.Washington, DC5858100Dec 5, 2023
Nestled in the heart of Vicksburg, The Tomato Place is not just a dining destination but an enchanting haven that mirrors the allure of a garden. Upon entering, the lush greenery and thoughtful decor create an ambiance that's not just welcoming but visually inviting. The establishment's commitment to a farm-to-table ethos is evident in every detail.
Exploring the menu is a journey through a trove of culinary delights. From fresh smoothies and juices to a comprehensive selection of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, the offerings showcase a dedication to quality, locally-sourced ingredients. Our choice of the fried green tomato, catfish with French fries, and BLT was a revelation - the homemade seasonings and sauces elevated the dishes to culinary masterpieces.
What stood out beyond the delightful meal was the opportunity to bring a piece of The Tomato Place home. The array of groceries, baked goods, and sauces, including the tantalizing hot sauce and tartar sauce, provided a unique and flavorful memento of our visit.
As if the gastronomic journey wasn't enough, the aesthetic appeal of the place, adorned with greenery and local treats, added an extra layer of charm. It's not just a restaurant; it's an experience for the entire community. I eagerly anticipate my next visit to Vicksburg, eagerly anticipating the chance to revisit this captivating spot, which has undoubtedly earned its place as a favorite.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Isaac H.Roswell, GA02Apr 4, 2024
This place was great. It's comfy, cosy, and comfortable. There is a wide variety of food. I had the Anna Melt and it was great. The sauce was reminiscent of a sweet and sour. Make sure you're not in a rush though because they have limited workers and space so service is quite slow.

The folks here are awesome !! So nice and welcoming. The tomato sandwich's were the best. Can't wait to get home and try the other goodies we bought. If you are passing through Vicksburg, make this your lunch stop. You will be glad you did. Thank you for making us feel welcome !! Hope to see you again !!
P.S. My wife loved the fried okra - Oct 31, 2023
Loved this place! Best bacon cheeseburger I've ever had and I've had my share. As most folks say it looks like a roadside stand from the outside. I sat inside and everyone was super friendly. I loved the unique decorations. Super great experience.

What a great, fun, quirky place! Stopped here while passing through town. Friendly staff and amazing food. We especially loved the classic tomato sandwich, the fried green tomatoes, the fried okra, and the fried green tomato BLT. Will definitely make this a regular stop anytime we are going through Vicksburg!

Stopped in for lunch and we were slightly unsure of how to approach. After a journey through racks of bagged fruits and fresh breads for sale, one finds themselves transported to a snapshot of the past with an eclectic elegance sure to charm.
Food was so good.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Susan P.Woodway, TX09387May 21, 2023Updated review
Cheese Grits.
Let's talk about that.
Grits May be a controversial subject, but we are safe here, so let's dive in.
Speaking of diving in, if you already love grits, then prepare to BE SEEN!
If you are grits-ambivalent, then prepare to start loving grits like those above.
If you (think) you don't like grits, well, then you have never tried THESE.
So, pull over and give yourself a moment to dive in everybody. Bring a Kleenex to wipe the tears of joy that slip down your cheeks.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 16, 2022Previous reviewWhy can't I give this place ten ?
We are frequent travelers through this area between Texas and Alabama. What a struggle to find fresh food at a fair price! We always try to support a local mom and pop shop, too.
How has this perfect little spot escaped our attention until now?
Fresh, DELICIOUS, unique offerings prepared by friendly folks.
Go inside to order. They prepare it fresh for you and then bring it to your car.
As you enter, you pass through a tiny market with fresh breads and produce.
In a refrigerated case, they also have intriguing drink cups filled with a wide variety of fruit choices. I think you take those in for them to make a smoothie for you.
My husband and I split a fried green tomato BLT w/added avocado and a side of okra. The serving was plentiful. So glad we shared!
This is our new go-to between here and there from now - Sep 26, 2022
A very eclectic restaurant - still looks mostly like the fruit stand it once was. I'd never stop here if it wasn't for the high Yelp ratings. I had the Shrimp PoBoy ($15) and a large smoothie (6), while my wife had a grilled chicken sandwich (10) and fried green tomatoes (6).
The tomatoes were rated great, the sandwiches good and the smoothie, just OK (should have been strawberry, but the bananas were overpowering). They have quite a varied menu and probably 20 other smoothies so it might be worth a revisit.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
