My friend was looking for a place for her parents. We took a tour, everyone was nice. They offer different levels of care. To be honest, it was more care than said parents needed so she opted to move them to an adult community. They have entertainment, gym, dining on site. Nurse is available. I hope not to need this for a long time. And once again, I was the youngest girl in the room...

My grandmother lived here and had over $10k worth or savings bonds and jewelry stolen by housekeeping. Nothing was ever resolved. Uncaring and ill informed staff, terrible dining room food, poorly executed visiting system. When she passed away and rent was paid through the month we were told "one person one day" was the time to move all of her things out of the apartment and clean it out. Front desk staff didn't realize she had died three days after the fact
. I wouldn't wish this place upon anyone. Overpriced and underwhelming. Look elsewhere.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

If I had to think of one word to describe The Springs of Scottsdale, it would have to EXCEPTIONAL!!! My sister and I were so fortunate to have found the amazing people who work there, who very quickly became our friends. They had the basic care that you would expect from an assisted living facility, but on top of that, there was so much more! My dad was able to enjoy Poker, Trivia, Bingo, Putt Putt Golf, Happy Hour and delicious food from the dining room. More important to me than any of the activities that he loved, was the genuine care and concern from all his "friends" that worked there. I truly feel blessed to have had such wonderful care for my dad.

The decline in the relationship is when my mother's best friend from Colorado came to visit after seeking approval from the Executive Director, Terri Stapleton. She was treated very poorly upon arrival by two of the employees, both of whom were condescending and rude. She was told she couldn't stay. This is an elderly woman on a fixed income who had to stay in a hotel. After complaining, Terri agreed to pay for her hotel. Terri admitted that she "forgot" to enter the visit in her calendar and told the employees that she did not approve it. It should have never come to that. It was humiliating to my mother and her friend and completely stripped them of their dignity.
We found a mound of dust and debris under my mom's bed after approximately 9 months of living there. So much so we don't believe anyone had ever swept under her bed. When it was brought to the attention of Teresa Cancel, Director of Leasing, using a condescending and dismissive tone, she said, "I always tell people we only do light housekeeping." An emphasis in tone was placed on the word "light". An apology would have been more appropriate, and by the way, when did sweeping become heavy housekeeping?
Another incident that caused great concern is when my mom was taken away by ambulance and nobody thought to contact the family. What community doesn't have that as a standard policy? We were told that had someone called to let us know it would have been purely a courtesy call. What?
When we decided to move my mom from independent living to assisted living after being in rehab from her fall and broken back, there were obviously a lot of questions given the family had never had to place someone in assisted living. I received a number of nasty emails saying that I was asking too many questions & sending too many emails -- that I should put a list of questions together and then call them. I was simply trying to navigate getting my mom back home and getting the care she needs. I do not have time to place phone calls, only to typically get voicemail, leave a message, and then wait for someone to call me back. It is VERY hard for me to make and receive phone calls during business hours, as I have a very demanding job, hence the reason I email. Furthermore, email is a good way for me to track messages and stay on top of things while navigating a 9-hour work day on top of everything else going on.
They said I should expect to wait 24 hours for a response and that they typically respond the same day. Simply not true. I have a slew of emails that prove my case.
They are incredibly disorganized. I asked for the dates of my mother's Covid vaccines on 12/28. Not only did they not respond w/in 24 hours (in fact, it was 5 days) I was told that she never received her booster, which she did. We changed bank accounts and they started auto payments from the new account and then out of the blue reverted to the old account, creating a financial debacle.
All those extra services they brag about like hair salon, mani-pedis, family being able to join them in the dining room, etc. were discontinued due to Covid. That's fine. But when other assisted living communities opened up those services again because it was considered "safe" again, they chose not to and used Covid as an excuse. In my opinion, I believe it was a way for them to save money.
ALWAYS pay attention to your bills! We found a number of errors to their advantage. They charge you if you want covered parking. Once we removed my mom's car from the community and notified them that the car was no longer parked there, they continued to charge for parking anyway. The biggest one is when we gave them our move out notice 30 days in advance as required and they deducted another month's rent & care fees in the amount of $5,747.90. They should have deducted $370.83. Not small change.
They do a great job selling their community when you visit. You do not get a warm welcoming feel after you've moved in. A lot of workers walk around with a scowl on their face & do not seem happy. There is an exception and that's Mary, who sits at the reception desk, and Tim, who drives people -- they are their only 2 assets.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

The Springs of Scottsdale is one of the best senior living facilities in the valley. The reception staff is always warm and welcoming upon arrival. The recent renovations came out nice. The dining hall was redone and the food is really good. Additional equipment was added to the fitness center. Lots of residents enjoy Ky's fitness class and other activities in the building. The size of the springs creates a nice community. The caregiving staff is the best around. You can tell they really care for the residents. Ellen is amazing. I highly recommend the springs senior living.

If you are looking for a place for an elderly loved one to live, you don't need to look anywhere else than The Springs of Scottsdale. My dad passed away recently and had lived at The Springs for the last two years of his life. I cannot say enough about the loving and caring people who work there! Not only were my dad's needs met by his caregivers, my dad felt loved by everyone at The Springs and they became his second family. My questions and requests to the staff were always met with a smile. Activities were plentiful and the food in the dining room was always excellent! Our family feels so blessed that our loved one was so happy and well-taken care of for the last two years of his life. I highly recommend The Springs of Scottsdale to any family looking for an active senior living community.

I requested an in home interview as I live within 3 miles and unable to drive. A rep was supposed to visit at 2:30 ish on 4/19/21. When she had not arrived by 4:30, I called again and was told she would arrive within 45 minutes. She never showed. I spent several hours waiting needlessly. My time is valuable too.

My mother has been living at The Springs for a year and both her and I couldn't be happier. I was very reluctant when she first started talking about moving there because she made it sound to good to be true, and you know how that goes. Well, it isn't to far from it.
First of all the staff is top notch, friendly and very helpful. The staff members from office to the servers in the dining room appear to know everyone by name. I was amazed how happy the residents are and how patient the staff is. They do a wonderful job of organizing lots of fun activities that everyone can enjoy regardless of their mobility limitations. My mother stays very busy.
Another great aspect of the Springs is they take residents to their scheduled appointments and shopping trips. My mother had just recently given up driving so this is a huge benefit.
They have three meals served daily in a restaurant style dining area. The meals are prepared as ordered and are very good. Lots of tables and room for all so there is no hurry to eat.
I highly recommend looking into the Springs, you will not be disappointed.
Sincerely,
William BrundageHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Megan T.Phoenix, AZ9121Jul 25, 2019

The Springs of Scottsdale is wonderful. they food is delicious and there are always many many choices in the Dining Hall. the staff is caring and the director is always cheerful and informative. They have a putting green ad a swimming pool, and great exercise room, transportation, and several daily activities to choose from. There is a brand new kitchen and dining hall remodel and they are expecting new furniture very soon. Each resident has a full apartment, with one or two bedrooms, a living room, bathroom and full kitchen. The residents are of a variety of ages. My mother is 99 years old and is thriving at the Springs of Scottsdale.

I'd like to recommend The Springs of Scottsdale to everyone whom is trying to evaluate Senior living/care for themselves or for a family member. My Father moved into the Springs about 3 years ago. He loves his extended family at the Springs. I'd have to say, it's more of a caring family than an apartment with meals. The staff is phenomenal, the facility is always immaculate, the grounds are sharp & well kept, & the medical care is top notch. I give The Springs of Scottsdale 5 Stars...
