Definitely try "The Original" (lobster, tomatoes, mayo and lettuce) and "the Connecticut"(lobster and melted hot butter) their bread pairs well with the choice of lobster. Seating available at the public square. They also have mixed fruit drink specials available.
A little wait for getting our order but the food is more than worth the wait. Fresh fluffy lobster.

We came here as we were told it was the "Best Lobster Roll in Town" and they even have a sign out front to prove it.
Got the Original (Maine-style) and was pretty disappointed. Probably cause I just had the lobster roll at Canteen a few blocks down, which was excellent and worthy of 5-stars.
The bun on this lobster roll was a basic hot dog bun, as they all are, but a terrible one at that, and the amount of lobster given was pretty small and the flavor was just ok. Also, didn't like that they put tomatoes on the lobster roll so had to take those off.
Overall a pretty "meh" lobster roll, especially at a price of $16. Do yourself a favor and walk a few blocks down to Canteen, spend an extra $3, and get a much, much better lobster roll. Just keep in mind that Canteen's is a 'designer lobster roll' rather than a traditional one, but nonetheless an excellent lobster roll.
Pass on Red Shack as it's NOT the "best lobster roll in town".

Lobster roll was pretty good but didn't stand out in terms of flavor. Tried the original. It was $15 which is reasonable and less than some other spots.
I noticed they served veggie dogs so fyi for vegetarians/vegans. They seemed to have an extensive menu overall.
Service was friendly and quick.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michael K.PA, PA80391269May 2, 2013
lobster roll was fresh and out of this world good! I had a big enough piece of lettuce where I could make a wrap and thereby pass on the roll.
Portuguese kale soup: excellent. it has chorizo in it (surprise!) so if you're vegetarian that might not be your best choice. but it was souper tasty ( you see what I did there don't you?). mmm hmmmm. yep
I know people are addicted to breads and all... but this lobster roll lettuce wrap would be fo schnickity shizzalicious!

This place was a WONDERFUL find as my mother and I were walking through Provincetown looking for a lobster roll!! I loved that they had different variations of lobster rolls that you could choose from. I ended up getting their Californian (1/4 lb lobster, dab of mayo, avocado, bacon, lettuce & tomato). It was DELICIOUS. It was a good size, the flavor combination with the avocado & bacon & lobster was surprisingly amazing. It was also a great price!
I also got an order of their sweet potato fries. They were also DELICIOUS! They were crispy, wonderfully salted... and served with a little container of dipping sauce. I'm not quite sure what it was... but it was slightly spicy, and very addictive! The sweet potato fries were a bit pricey, but I definitely recommend trying them. The portion was generous, and they were worth the $$.
I most definitely recommend checking this place out!

A roadside take away place with the BEST lobster rolls in town (very generous portions of Lobster Meat). I stayed in Ptown all week and visited this Shack every day for a Lobster roll. The original is PERFECT and the Morroccan (curry, mint, pineapple, mayo & lobster) is OUTSTANDING... I'm bringing it back to NYC for some restaurant somewhere!

The dude that runs this place( like the tightest of ships) serves up the best lobster roll in town and does it with flair.
Plenty of succulent lobster meat in these delicious Portuguese rolls.
Also try the sweet potato fries served with "Magic Dust" seasonings. So addictive it might as well be PCP. Comes with an equally addictive spicy lobster dipping sauce. What? They're basically giving away lobster for free.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jeff O.Jackson Heights, NY5481591223Jul 29, 2014
I am in no way done with my lobster roll research, but this was the Connecticut variety I had here was the best I had in Provincetown (had 3). I believe it had some sort of spice or sauce on it, in addition to the butter, because there was this slight red film on it. I would love is anyone could let me know what that is. I don't think it's a destination place, but I do think it's a reliable roll.
I was surprised it was so good. Usually "Red" means crappy Chinese food, but here it meant happy Jeff.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Tracy G.Greenfield, MA267194844Apr 29, 2013
LOVED my lobster roll. I got the Californian, hold the bacon bits (normally it's 1/4 lb lobster, lettuce, tomato, bacon bits, a tiny bit of mayo, and avocado on a Portuguese roll). Lobster was succulent and fresh, avocado was perfect, and even the green leaf lettuce, which I understand is hard to get fresh on the Cape sometimes, was sweet and crispy.
Also tried the Portuguese kale soup. I'm mostly vegetarian and I was warned it had chorizo in it but I had to try it, as I am a huge fan of kale and soup just felt like the thing on this particular day. So glad I did. Absolutely delicious. Tons of kale, white beans, potato, chorizo, garlic in a yummy broth that was the perfect temperature. Would totally eat that again.
My only complaint about this place is that I am gluten-free right now and the menu says they have GF options. When I asked about about said options (like a GF roll for my sandwich), I was met with a confused look. Then the girl realized what I was talking about and said they had "gluten-free grabs" but not rolls. Grabs? Whatevs. I just got the roll and decided to eat around it. As it turns out, what the Red Shack should do is offer a lobster lettuce wrap. My dreamboat, @Kurm, ate his this way but I didn't have quite enough lettuce. Only if -- woulda been PERFECT!!
We'll be back. Thanks, Red Shack!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Hilda Y.New York, NY243642Aug 16, 2014
Delicious $13.95 lobster rolls! So happy my husband decided to stop by the Red Shack. We already tried The Canteen's hot and cold lobster rolls and were really disappointed with the lack of flavor, and wanted to improve our ptown experience with a really delicious lobster roll "dessert".
He got one original to try, I had a bite of the lobster and it was definitely the flavor I was looking for. Had just enough spices, mayo and celery, lobster was well cooked and very generous portion size. The bun was only so so. I followed his order with one of my own, sans bun, the Portuguese kale soup, which was very flavorful with a bit of a kick and the truffle fries which were great.
Highly recommend as the prices are very fair, portion sizes are good. Only drawback is no seating but there are park benches directly across. My guess is no seating helps keep the costs down. Oh and it's cash only!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
