Stopped in for the burlesque Cabernet show and it was OK. It is up on the third floor and it was $50 cash to see the show. I was underwhelmed. It is in a smaller narrow bar with a small stage. The drinks were OK and there was no table service. I would say that the drinks were a little pricey as well.

Stopped in here and frankly wasn't impressed by an expensive, weak drink and kids deejaying such commonplace classiques as "American Boy" // Estelle. To be honest, I seemed to be the outlier in attendance though, as the Red Room's other patrons appeared to be having the time of their lives on the small dance floor. Good for them. I suppose I'm simply not the demographic.
Despite the Red Room's energy on this Tuesday night, I did appreciate the room itself and its decor. I'd probably have been much more interested if the piano on its red-curtain-flanked stage had been put to use by, say, a jazz ensemble. The Red Room probably has different kinds of programming; if they have such a night planned in the near future, I may try again.
Appreciated the door man checking IDs and vax cards, as this is a rather intimate space up, like, two flights of stairs.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 13, 2018
Places like the Red Room are increasingly rare as the East Villages changes. I was fortunate to come here at the invitation of a friend who is active in the NYC burlesque community and what an unexpected gem it was.
It's a steep climb to the third floor of what seems to be a former pre-war apartment building but it's well worth it when you get to the top. We were greeted by a gorgeous woman in showgirl attire who asked for a $10 cover, which I did not mind paying for an evening of entertainment.
Once you get inside the space is just the right size for a cabaret show. Darkly lit and just a little seedy - in a good way. G&Ts were strong and about $10 so not bad.
The burlesque show was great! Three awesome performers and lots of audience participation. The emcee was hilarious and very on her game. We enjoyed chatting with fellow patrons and had a lot of laughs. Definitely a memorable experience and we will be back for more!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Nov 23, 2019
I came here for a fundraising dinner event. It's not a large space but the decor is wonderful and service was top notch. They have a stage tucked into the corner where I imagine they have some performers doing one person style shows (if they don't, they should since this seems like a great atmosphere for that). I'm not sure if they handled the food for my event but if they did, I have to say it was pretty good and definitely a varied menu. I'm not in this area much but it definitely seems like one of those places you'd need to know about vs. stumbling onto it at random & I'm glad I got to experience it.

I paid $16 for less than a shot of alcohol.
Just Hendricks.
And I got a half shot glass full of ice with juniper essence.
I brought this up to the bartender to which I just got this as a response, "sorry."
Big egos and big bills for small yield.
Their justification was that there's no cover so they can do what they wish.
Don't come here unless you want some rude people serving you. My server was Carla and the bartender wishes to be un-named.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Carissa L.New York, NY621510Feb 8, 2015

I really thought this place was cool..it's a real old school vibe, like 1920's or 1950's, like mid-century-type. You really get the feeling of being in one of those flapper clubs, or feel like you're in a small-scale Boom Boom Room (from the movie Life with Eddie Murphy). I didn't try any of their cocktails yet but they look good, and pretty standard $14-$15 speakeasy prices per cocktail.
The couches are real comfortable and they have a memorabilia area in the corner. Pretty relaxed atmosphere, and they do live music once a month I think. I didn't get to hear the music (we had come just after they finished) but the stage area where they played looked real authentic, even with one of those old-school mic's and a piano on a small, low elevated stage. The lighting added to the authenticity also, and the whole building is very Soviet-era, red and creamish colored. They close at 2am I believe. It was, however, stifling hot up there, it was like an attic. Definitely want to come back sometime. I also feel like this would be a cool place to rent out, or take a bunch of people for a special occasion (just make sure they turn the AC up if you do)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Diamantis K.Manhattan, NY2913351Mar 21, 2018
Okay wild twist of fate and I end up at the Red Room after going to Angels share right before. We go through the stairwell and get to a door and walk into a new world. There is a women and a gentleman both adorned in latex just finishing up a show and a festive crowd. There then was a band playing straight out of the roaring 20's. It was an interesting time capsule with art deco decorations a piano a stage and a copper bathtub. They also have an absenthe night were you can try different ones. Worth a try and be ready for a surprise while there.

Not much to say other than that this place is on the 3rd floor of the building. The first floor is some random theater and the floor above that is the KGB bar. This place is small--- like fit 20 people kind of small. Bartender is very nice and drinks are on the stronger side. We also left just as the jazz band was setting up. Would've totally stayed longer to hear them play. I'd recommend this place if you're looking for a relatively quiet place to catch up with friends.
