The Ranchers Steak & Seafood Restaurant

We discovered this gem of a restaurant this evening and will definitely be back as we travel through Ruidoso pretty often. The staff was unbelievably friendly starting with our greeting when we entered until we left. The food was outstanding and so was the service. I had the salmon special and it was fantastic. My fiancée had the sirloin (they were out of prime rib and super apologetic about it) and he really enjoyed.

My Wife and I enjoyed Valentines Day 2024 at Ranchers, looking forward to something special! Ranchers did not disappoint!! Everything was a perfect evening, sat at our table with no wait.... Reservations were on top of it, atmosphere was great, Hostess was welcoming and very knowledgeable A+ for her.
The menu and food were amazing! 5 course meal served at your pace, was nice. An A+ overall from us.

On vacation in Ruidoso in December so it's expected for all the restaurants to be busy. Having trying a couple of places, they had room to seat us and were very welcoming to our large group. The waiter was awesome! He was funny, tentative, and very nice. We did have a few alcoholic drinks, no complaints there. And the food was not disappointing. Everything we had was so good, from the burgers to the steaks. We were all satisfied. If in Ruidoso, you should give them a try.

Service was great.
Chicken fettuccine Alfredo had a few slivers of chicken, saucy was watery and bland. No breadsticks or garlic bread offered. Garden salad was delicious. A bit pricey. $19 for just the chicken fettuccine Alfredo.
Ambiance was comfy.. a western saloon theme feel.

We had the Tobacco Onion Rings appetizer and the green chili cheeseburger. $22.

I had to post 2 pictures of the Tobacco Onion Rings appetizer so you could get a sense of how big it was. At $7 it is probably one of the best appetizer values you can get in the USA. Additionally, it is one of the tastiest as well. The only down side was the sauce. They offer a jalapeno sauce which had no detectable spice. And, we asked for a barbecue sauce and were told that none was available in the restaurant. They should fix that.

The green chili cheeseburger was the best we've ever had. We've been sampling many lately but this one is the king. It was juicy, smokey and had a nice kick of heat.

Service and food were amazing. I had caesar salad and crab cakes. Hubby had prime rib and said it was delicious. Great prices too.

Do not waist your money here. Crab cakes where cold. My steak was well over cooked and my shrimp was over cooked too. My wives prime rib was horrible with no flavor. I was going to finish but I still can't get the bad taste out of my mouth.

This place was really good. The entire staff was very friendly and attentive, the ambiance was great and the food was good.

Didn't know there was a kids menu until I heard the table next to us ask. Apparently they have one, just not printed. Would've been nice to know before ordering 3 chicken Alfredo plates for the kids. The food was room temp and the French dip was too salty and inedible. For the prices they charge, the quality isn't there.

We arrived in town late and needed to grab something fast and this place was on the way. So it was a pick up. Now first off I know better then to order seafoods at restaurants hundreds of miles from the coast. So my bad. I ordered the calamari. It was so gross. Like deep fried rubber. I threw in the trash. The crab cakes were edible only because we were hungry. The very overpriced fried catfish were basically big fish sticks. I think they were Cod. I don't mind paying good money for good food but this was not good food. Employees were nice.

We had reservations for 6:30 and arrived at 6:20 and were seated immediately. we waited 30 min for drinks and 40 for our appetizer. Our food didn't arrive for another 20 min, over an hour since We'd ordered. I had to ask about our salads, which we hadn't received. My husband ordered the elk tenderloin, a $49.50 meal. It was our anniversary so we splurged. He got 9 small bites of steak...9! We asked for a manager and told him everything. He offered us a free dessert but we declined. He ended up taking off my husbands steak but no apologies about the time, service, etc.
