We were so happy to stumble upon this place on our road trip to NOLA thanks to my trusty Yelp! We stopped here on a Thursday for lunch with our toddler. The girl at the register welcomed us on our first time and told us what their most popular dishes were. We settled on the brisket sandwich, chicken fries, Mac and cheese for the kiddo, and who doesn't order banana pudding in the South? They were really busy for lunch which was a good sign but we still easily found a spot at the communal tables outside. Our food came fairly quickly and the portions were huge! I didn't expect 'chicken fries' to be a glorious sloppy mess of BBQ chicken, beans, sauce, sour cream, and jalapeños. It was AMAZING! My husband ate every bite of his brisket and finished what my daughter didn't eat of her Mac and cheese. We shared the banana pudding which was an excellence choice for dessert. Best road trip stop we made all day! Definitely going to stop here on our way to NOLA every year!

We're lucky you found us, too, Haley! Finding that perfect pit stop on a road trip is crucial, and I'm happy we can be that stop for your family. Mac 'n' cheese, brisket sandwich, Fondren fries, and banana pudding are the best way to break up a long drive. We'd love to have your family back on your way home -- I hope to see you then!

Highly rated, recommended bbq spot in Jackson MS. Located near Jackson State University & Milsapp College.
My first time visiting here I thought the food was very good. I bragged about the bbq here and decided to take a friend. When visiting here the second time with a friend; I was not impressed with the food. The restaurant is lacking on its cleanness inside. We decided to eat outside and they bring out the food to you. Outside area is very cute with plenty of tables spread out. You can also play cornhole outside. We ordered the bbq ribs and brisket. Our ribs were a bit burnt and was lacking flavor. The brisket were a bit dry and lacking flavor. Our sides were just okay. Eatable but nothing to brag about. This place is expensive and I could've had a way better meal somewhere else for the amount of money we spent on garbage food. I was sorry that I had recommended this restaurant. The service was still good as before but the food was definitely not good at all.
When I'm in Jackson again, I'll find another bbq restaurant to go too because this place is not it.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 8, 2024
Solid bbq. Stopped in before we hit the airport for a ride home and so glad we did. The brisket sandwich was spot on and they even let me add a piece of balogna to it which some bbq places don't even do balogna. This one did and it was a great addition. The Mac n cheese was delightful and super creamy. Service was quick and everyone was nice and greeted us and the string lights brings some cool ambiance in a rainy day.

This is the first bbq restaurant I tried in this area. I have not yet found any place that compares. The meat is tender, flavorful.
Sometimes the sides in specialty restaurants are like a second thought. Not in Pig & Pint. The sides are great. I do wish they had a corn puddingHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 3, 2023
[Pig & Pint] Local Award-winning spot in Jackson, MS that specializes in BBQ and a large selection of beer
I got the Que Sampler with the choice of brisket, pulled pork, and rack of ribs. Their sides included mac & cheese, collard greens, baked beans, and potato salad.
The brisket was my favorite, super juicy. The sides were really good. They had a large selection of beer that I didn't get the chance to try since I was driving but maybe next time. However, I did get some sweet tea . Their selection of BBQ sauces at the table was amazing. The service was amazing with our server constantly checking in on us and the ambiance was great. Overall, 9/10.

Wow... seriously exceptional Yelp find. Everything was good from start to finish.
We opted for the Pitmaster sampler to get a taste of many... with outstanding brisket, pulled pork, and perfectly smoked sausage link; the sauces just amplified the already mouth popping flavors.
The sides are extensive, flavorful, and I seriously wanted to try them all. After a long day of driving from Dallas, this place soooo hit the spot! Beer, smoked meat, and 'nanner puddin' for dessert... seriously get off the highway for this one!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Overall pretty good barbecue. Food arrived quickly and is definitely somewhere I'd recommend if you are looking for a quick lunch. Typically I don't add sauce to my sandwich but found the brisket a bit dry and lacking flavors normally found in great barbecue. The Mac and cheese was delicious and the fried green tomatoes were fried to perfection but a bit bland.

I had such high hopes for this well regarded bbq restaurant in Jackson. Not only does Yelp love it but a couple of friends who live here said I must eat there so I did. I am sorry to say but I was underwhelmed.
Pig & Pint is primarily an outdoor restaurant with covered and uncovered seating. Inside is where you order Q and beer and then you head outside to find a table. Not sure how well that works on cold weather days or when it's hot and sticky outside.
I went with the 1/2 smoked chicken meal with two sides for $16. My chosen sides were baked beans and potato salad. After ordering the food you go to another station to get your brew if that's what you want.
My food arrived at the table in about 10 minutes and looked very attractive. I decided to start with the sides. Like I said it all looked attractive but:
the potato salad was chunky and cool in temp but lacked flavor. It is mayo based and I couldn't really even taste that.
the beans were thick in the consistency of the sauce but was somewhat bland. Usually beans with this consistency have a lot of rich flavor. Not here.
finally the bird was large in size but I didn't taste anything special with its smokiness or juiciness. It was average in my opinion. Honestly the best part of the meal was their sweet bbq sauce on the table. One of 3 flavors offered it had a nice flavor to it that I used on the chicken, beans and the slice of Texas Toast provided.
While I was underwhelmed with this meal and it's not what I expected, it was not a bad meal. Yes I wanted more flavor out of all 3 items, it was priced reasonably and I have to believe P & P is better than this. That's why I'm giving a 3 but no more.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

Mike, we're disappointed that our smoked chicken meal, baked beans, and potato salad didn't quite meet your expectations. If you ever have a problem with your meal, please let our team know. We're always happy to make adjustments. If you decide to return, we'd love to serve you a more flavorful meal.
