I'm doing a mostly DIY remodel, and while I know how to get done what I know about, I also need to get done all the things I DON'T know about. I needed expert advice, preferably from folks who were not trying to sell me remodeling services and products.

I figured a thorough home inspection would be a good way to go, from an inspector who is licensed and has a fiduciary responsibility to provide accurate information. I chose The Inspectors Company not only for their great reviews here, but more importantly for the excellent content in the sample inspection report posted on their site. I need that level of detail to know what needs fixing, how bad it is, and if I should do it myself or hire a contractor.

We set an appointment over Yelp Messaging for Saturday, but about an hour before the appointment there was a very late request for more information, and the appointment was missed. Eric called me later that day, apologized profusely for the confusion, and offered to do the inspection the next day, Sunday, at a discount.

Eric arrived on time, and I was at Eric's elbow all the way through the inspection, sharing my remodel plans and listening to every morsel of advice (he had recently done his own DIY remodel). When the inspection report arrived, it was everything I had hoped for, and more.

Most importantly to me, the report has helped me decide what needs to be done in my remodel, what parts of it I can do, and what really should be handled by contractors.

Recently purchased a home in Central San Diego and booked The Inspectors Company for my home inspection. Eric was the inspector and he was extremely knowledgeable about the condition of the home. They were very responsive upon booking the inspection and were flexible with my strict timeline to have the inspection done. Thank you for delivering such a detailed report and so quick! Would definitely recommend to future home buyers and sellers.

Update: 6/30/20

I had another inspection on a second property done, this time a house and not a condo. Ed did the inspection and I could not have been happier! He was SUPER thorough and answered all of my questions. He said he has 11 years experience of being an electrician prior to being an inspector and it shows- he knows his stuff and was helpful when it came to all the electrical problems in the house. Thanks again guys! Highly recommend!

Yesterday, we had an inspection performed on a house we are in the process of buying. The experience with The Inspectors Company was fantastic from start to finish. They were able to fit us in for an inspection within 24 hour hours. Our inspector, Eric Martinez was tremendously thorough. He was also so patient with all of our questions. He was very clear about the issues we really needed to address vs. ones that were less urgent/critical. He was also just an overall nice, warm person. The report we received after the inspection was clear and detailed.
