A friend suggested this gem for our meet up since I said I wanted mimosa.
We got there when they opened so we were the first ones there. Nice, very low key, cute location. Friend ordered the chicken and waffle with potatoes. I got the Burrata. My Burrata was sooooooo good. That flatbread was amazing. The balsamic glaze was so good. I would definitely order this again. My strawberry Mimosa hit the spot.
I will be back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 7, 2018
Nope. Not now. Not ever. Not ever again. Eveerrrr again.
First of all... this place is completely disorganized! The people here don't seem to know what they're doing. They were running around all confused the entire night and it was really uncomfortable.
Secondly... the service sucks. Period. The bartender was nice but the service was awful. Please don't have me waiting at the bar for over 10 minutes while you go and chat it up with your friends at the bar. Please don't let me bus my OWN damn bar top because you're not around to do it. And worst of all... pleeeaase do NOT let the people who came AFTER me get served BEFORE me. One of my biggest pet peeves, and I'll be damned... that ish happened here.
The crazy part is, when I came in, it wasn't even busy? Um excuuuse me.... what the hell are YOU doing? Why is there only one bartender on a Friday night taking care of the entire restaurant????? Get it together people!
Third... the food AND the wine were mediocre. Yes, the WINE because I wasn't feeling like a beer or a cocktail and there was no effing way that I was gonna shell out $15 for a spiked milkshake. EXCUUUSE me?! $15 effing dollars! How do your milkshakes cost more than your burgers? Nonsense, but I digress...
So back the wine... yes, I know my wines. Maybe I'm just a little more versed than your average, but the 4 wines that I tasted here were all gross. The cheapest of the cheap. I finally settled on a Malbec, but that was average too. After the third wine, I kind of knew that it was going to be a lost cause.
I love burgers. Love them. Looove them, and you know I do. But if you mess up my burger, you are toying with my heart. And honey, Shayla won't be having none of that madness. The first time the burger was delivered to me, it didn't have the cheddar cheese that I requested on it, and there was virtually no aioli sauce on the bun. I told the gentleman who delivered it to me, and he asks "Can I just put a piece of cheese on it or do you want it melted?".........................
......................... Um... WHAT?! Why would you EVER ask that?! Who in their right mind would want you to just slap a piece of cold ass cheese on their burger??? I'm not here to make YOUR job easier! Just get my effing order right! I was already pissed at this point, but obviously I opted for them to melt the cheese.
When it came back to me, I noticed that they indeed added the extra aioli sauce that I asked for...... all on the bottom of my damn plate!!! Whoever did it, just sloppily threw it together, causing it to overflow onto the plate which made the bottom bun hella soggy. Yeah, they really screwed me up that night. I was hangry so I just ate it. What a struggle THAT was. Flavorless. The curly fries were dry AF! The burger... dry AF! The whole atmosphere in that place........ dryyy AF!!!!!
It made me actually MISS Bourbon & Beef. Such an awful experience. I'm sorry to say, but the chance of this place making it is slim to none. They need major help! I guess we'll see how long this one stays on the block...Helpful 41Thanks 0Love this 37Oh no 0 - Janna L.Los Angeles, CA223346417Jul 19, 2019
Bottomless Lavender Mimosas? Ummm yes, I'll take two carafes to start.
My boyfriend and I had the best double date brunch with my best friend and her fiancé last Saturday. First off, the fact that we found such a great parking spot on a side street was such a relief and kicked off the morning in a terrific way. The Hideaway was easy to find, nestled in between a few cute boutiques and home goods-type shops, which made me excited for exploring after brunch.
Not only is it amazing that they have so many mimosa options to choose from, but the food is fantastic, too. Our only complaint was that the carafes didn't have a lip at the end, so it was difficult to pour without spilling all over the table. The first attempt was very unsuccessful, but then we mastered the pouring technique to a science.
As far as food, we had plenty of it, and it was all delicious: Eggs Bruschetta, Crab Cake Benedict, Grilled Ahi Burger, Veggie Stack Burger, Buffalo Wings, and Mac & Cheese. Our table ended up getting the very last avocado, but we generously spread it out among the four of us so that we each got our fix!
If my boyfriend and I didn't live in LA, we would definitely be regulars here!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 173145147Mar 2, 2019
2 stars for the food that has come out under an hour: two appetizers, the brussels and fried shrimp and the were just ok. I'm literally writing this review waiting for the third appetizer, the mussels, and it's been 2 hours. I've been here before and am just now remembering it wasn't a good experience. I literally have nothing left to talk about with my guest. I can't even imagine if I had ordered an entree , I'd have to pick it up tomorrow! Granted they did tell us it would be a wait for food HOWEVER it's probably a good idea to tell the customer how much longer it will be. On top of that, they knew were were frustrated and didn't try to makeup for it.
UPDATE: we asked asked for the check and miraculously the mussels were served...weird teheheHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Annie C.Oakland, CA401186140May 11, 2019
Came here for lunch on Saturday, and there was a lot of seating. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger ($12.50) on a beautiful brioche bun and regular fries ($3). The burger was good but the meat could've been seasoned more. I ordered medium and it was cooked to a perfect medium. The lettuce and tomato were fresh, and the onions were lightly grilled.
The brioche bun was really good!
The fries were disappointing. They were crispy but a little too undercooked for my liking. My boyfriend got the curly fries, and those were good.
Burger- 3.5/5
Fries- 2/5
Service was great!
Parking in the neighborhood is easy to find.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Bob K.Denton, TX5637482962Jul 4, 2018
SUMMARY: Super convenient from BART Rockridge, good service, but portions on appetizers were a bit smaller than expected. Figgy piggy burger was excellent (according to friend). 4.5 experience.
BACKGROUND
A good friend of mine from Seattle was in town for a short visit and he contacted me and our other friend for a quick meet up before his flight from Oakland. This was the easiest place to meet for all of us.
FOOD
We ordered the chicken wings appetizers, grilled shrimp, a Figgy Piggy bacon burger, and beers. Happy hour appetizers were half off so that was a plug. As mentioned above, the portions could've been a wee bit bigger. On the wings, the bleu cheese dipping sauce was a bit watery than expected. The burger though (according to my friend) was pretty darn good. I didn't get a pic of it though because he dove right into it.
So food-wise, I'll rate it a 4.5.
SERVICE
Good, attentive and not disruptive. They split the bill for us 3 ways without a fuss. Bartender was a cool guy.
ATMOSPHERE
Modern and booth seats were comfy. Clean and well maintained. Bar is long enough to accommodate about 12-15 people. There were 2 flat screens and they were playing the England vs Columbia game, which England won in penalty kicks.
BATHROOM
Very clean. Always a big plus!Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Feb 16, 2018
The Hideaway is where Bourbon and Beef was. bar seating as well as table seating. seats are tables are "tight". not for panda/bear individuals.
offerings: gourmet burgers, sliders, salads, appetitzers, cocktail milk shakes(15), full bar (single menu for lunch, dinner.
eats: classic burger (11.95) medium rare.
-got salad instead of fries, mixed greens fresh, fabulous
-large patty, pinkish meat, tastleless, juiceless,
-lettuce, tomato, pickles, dijon mustard fresh
burger disappointing, sodium aftertaste.
2.5 stars
take outs:
-only bartender on duty, handled bar and dine patrons.
-only 2 draughts available.
-didn't see HH menu/offerings.
-didn't get water, didn't ask, wasn't asked. didn't matter.
food is main problem here, understaffing maybe another...Helpful 19Thanks 0Love this 11Oh no 0 - C K.Oakland, CA090167Apr 6, 2019
The grilled ahi tuna burger was sublime. The quality sushi grade tuna dressed with a wasabi based sauce mixing with a tint of ginger over some finely chopped cucumber onion and pickle sitting in between a fresh soft bun. Tropical paradise moment!
Why I knock off one star - 11 am Sat not busy the server wasn't very friendly but the bartender was cool!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alexa B.Woodinville, WA1593065Apr 14, 2018
Such good burgers and fries!!! I had the fried chicken (one of the best fried chicken I've had!!!) and my husband had the lamb burger. We're both very happy, and Charlie was a fantastic server (and let us customize our burgers to our tasty preferences).
Also I highly recommend the classic fries- cooked and seasoned to perfection!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Stacey R.Berkeley, CA358Mar 3, 2018
Upscale burger place with delicious alcoholic milkshakes. Below is a list of what my table got and their individual reviews:
-ahi tuna burger: this burger was cooked to perfection! I hate when ahi tuna is cooked too much. This place perfectly seared the tuna while leaving the middle rare. Paired with the wasabi aioli sauce, it was delicious! And had lots of tuna!! I def recommend
-lamb burger: my friend ordered it medium cooked and it was juicy AF. Def would recommend
-grilled chicken burger: comes with a half of avocado on top!!! Was also good
-fries: we got all of the diff kinds and they were all delish! I loved the crispiness of them
-milkshakes: we got the Caribbean paradise, coffee, an d bourbon cherry. All were good! And were deliciously creamy and thick. The coffee one is strongest in alcohol tasteHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
