Q:
How's the parking?
A:
From what I recall, it's just street parking. I went on a Saturday around lunch and had no problem. I've been on a Saturday night and while I didn't drive, it didnt seem all that crowded.

Everyone has their opinion on where to get the best burger in San Diego and I can say with pure confidence that if they don't say the Friendly, they are wrong.
This is the OG location with just one thing on the menu: dirty flat top cheeseburger. Don't even try ordering it with modifications. These burgers are perfection! Serious crisp on the patty but a juicy finish with the mayo and cheese.
We send every person we know to try a burger from here then wait for their text about how it's the best burger they've ever eaten.
They have pizzas, but the dirty flat top cheeseburger is where it's at. I personally think they taste better at this location than the Friendly Tavern. Probably has to do with the grill but I highly recommend coming to this one! - Rudy Z.San Diego, CA0455/13/2023
The cheeseburger is incredible, the pie slices are also very good. Their service is atrocious/pretentious but they seem to have a pride in it. To give perspective this is coming from someone who really doesn't expect much in terms of customer service, but it's pretty blatant how they aren't interested in even trying to display average politeness.
All in all, great place for those who love tasty burgers and are okay with it coming with off-putting service. - 32437115795/13/2023
This is a no frills, simple and easy, comfort food joint.
No substitutions, no fries.
Straight up smash burgers and pizzas. But they do it oh-so-well.
Wish we would've gotten more but we were there for a "snack" before dinner.
Bumping music, a bit of a wait since the burgers are made to order, 3 employees max that we could see.
Def adding to our list of late night, post-debauchery hot spots in SD. Practically scarfed down the pizza on the way home, and inhaled the smash burger way too easily once we got in. Hence, no pics.
They sell canned beer and offer a dollar off when you get it shotgun style. - 1711613415/22/2023
Finally got around to trying The Friendly after hearing this was the best burger in town! It's a super small shop on a random retail strip in North Park and you'd never guess the food is as good it was. Very simple options with no substitutions so we obviously had to try the famous burger and a slice of pizza. The burger was really good- super juicy, cheesy and surprisingly really flavorful for as simple as it was. Because they had no changes, my bf couldn't eat it because of the onions and tried the pizza instead, which we both agreed was one of the best single slices we've had in a long time! Overall the food was good and it's a pretty cool spot- I'd love to come back here after a night out drinking in NP.

This place is great! I passed by several times but never had the chance to come in. Don't make the same mistake I did! Come here as soon as you can!
I never thought that one of the best cheeseburgers I've ever had would be at a place that specializes in pizza, but here we are! This place is definitely a no frills, pizza joint, that has weekly specials, and an amazing cheeseburger. There is not a lot of seating inside, so if it is rush-hour, you should just expect to take your food to go.
Make sure you tip; these folks work hard! - 97712945/15/2023
My favorite fatty greasy cheeseburger in San Diego. The garlic mayo, grilled buttered bread buns, and cheesy goodness always hits when you're hungry. This is the perfect spot to stop by before or after grabbing a drink at the local north park bars and breweries. Bonus points if you shot gun a beer you get $1 off. The service is great unless you wanna make any changes to your burger so make sure you know what you're getting-a cheeseburger with a grilled patty, cheddar cheese, buttered buns (white bread) and garlic mayo-if that doesn't sound good to you then maybe opt for a slice of pizza ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Our experience at The Friendly was...OK.
We made a trip specifically to The Friendly to try the burgers. That might have been our mistake because the burgers are good, but not worth the drive. The burger was comparably priced to a Shake Shack cheeseburger and more expensive than an In N Out cheeseburger. Yet it tasted no better than the two. The buns were soft (just regular buns, not potato or brioche), and the burger patties were nicely smashed. But the cheese was American cheese, and the sauce was solely mayo. There were supposed to be grilled onions, but I couldn't taste any of it. The entire cheeseburger tasted of only one-note. It could have used the tartness of some ketchup, or perhaps a strip of lettuce.
There are also no sides (e.g. french fries), and they do not offer any drinking water aside from bottled water. I do not know the bathroom situation. It only took us 5-10min to eat the fairly small burgers, and then we left.
There was plenty of seating when we went around noon on a weekend. We did street parking a couple of blocks away.
Service was professional, but limited to taking my order and giving me my order.
I think if you are already in the neighborhood, definitely stop by for a burger and a beer. But this is not a particularly special burger that merits a special trip. - Edward Aldrin G.San Diego, CA39315/15/2023
Great music selection for millennials and gen z. Kitchen staff was nice. Although the dirty flat top cheeseburger increased in price, it's worth it since you won't experience this unique taste anywhere else.

Indeed not the first gem that I had been missing for a long time. Gotto advertise themselves.
So from one ear to the other.. I finally was here.
It seems that all all pizzas are made the same way but taste comes either from the dough or cheese or toppings or water from NY or who knows if it's oven.
Long story short, they've got good pizza as well as their signature hamburger. You are around, grab either one or both. Nothing extraordinary just simple.
Limited seating and anti skid floor coz of heavy foot traffic ;) - 992734132/7/2023
Stumbles upon this spot being in the area. Came in and orders the Dirty Flat Top Cheeseburger and Pizza Slices.
The burger was really good. And so was the pizza they offer beer and bottled drinks. The service was really good and so was the music.
There is a couple places to sit.
