How is the seating on a Saturday night? Should I make a reservation ahead of time?
A:
Well, we went on a Saturday and got there around 8:45, we only waited 10 min. But then again, it was slightly snowing, I don't know if that's what had to do with it. But I would make a reservation, just in… more

Quite underwhelming. Lacked flavor in the pozole. I've been there a few times and this was by far the worst time. Maybe it was because it was brunch and busy? Not sure.

Good food and service, the mango seasonal salad was great! Went during lunch was very busy, however we were seated pretty quickly

Love this place. It gets a little loud so you have to talk reallly loud, that's my only complaint. So if you are looking for a quiet night, ask to sit outside!
The wagyu stroganoff is what I get everytime, along with the black pepper mussels. Worth the $$.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Andy M.Portland, OR19116Apr 13, 2024
I have heard from locals that this place is really good, but I just don't see it. Tonight was the second time visiting here in less than six months, and it has been unimpressive both times.
We've eaten inside and outside, and both times the atmosphere is too busy to enjoy a good meal. The outside tables are too small for the party-sizes, so there's no room for menus on the table; one ends up juggling the menu while trying to order a drink and before ordering the main course. It is awkward and frustrating.
Today we had the Wagyu Stroganoff, Pork Chop, Duck, and Trout along with Pork Belly, Beet Salad, and a few other uninspiring appetizers.
The food is not bad, but it is just not great.
Cocktails are subpar, and they just can't get a simple Martini right.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 11918Mar 22, 2024
Great friendly service, nice atmosphere, a little noisy. Good for larger groups (there is a permanent table for 12!), food is ready fairly quickly and tastes good.
Not quiet and romantic.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 21, 2024
Can really only rate this on my dish, but the beef stroganoff was SO DELICIOUS! Homemade noodles, the mushrooms were perfect and the beef was tender. I also had a house salad that was pretty good. Will be back just for beef stroganoff. It was a pretty loud environment.

Copper onion is a salt lake favorite. Living here for so long it took me a while to actually dine here. I always hear so much about it, but never had the opportunity until most recently.
When walking in, you're greeted by a very friendly hostess. I highly recommend getting an appointment, but if you want to try your luck with walk ins, it's still worth it. I personally did a walk in (2 people) and was sat immediately at the bar.
The food here is delicious! The drinks are phenomenal! My favorite is the beef stroganoff. The cut of beef they used i think is beef ribs. The perfect balance of lean and fat. The noodles were perfect.
I highly recommend this place. I can definitely see why people like to come here especially for dates. Great atmosphere and yummy food.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 1 - Jan 30, 20241 check-in
The Copper Onion is obviously the It spot of SLC and it's understandable why. The food was impeccable! The duck wasn't even recommended by the bartender but was incredible. The sauce, veggies, and duck tasted delicious that the plate was literally wiped cleaned when finished. We also had the dulce de leche panna cotta. It was so tasty that I didn't even grab a photo since it was devoured almost immediately. Will definitely be back again on the next visit.
(It is hard to get in so make a reservation in advance.)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 30, 2023
After reading about this place on all the top restaurant lists of SLC and on Yelp, I made it a point to come and try this place with my friends in our trip. I really liked the vibe here. The decor was kind of an old New England Ivy League vibe to me.
We started with their house bread served with salted Chile and whipped ricotta. I was interested in trying a couple of the appetizers, but unfortunately my friends had filled up on food at our drink spot instead of waiting like we had all planned, so we headed straight into dinner.
Drink wise I opted for the golden hour which was lemon, yuzu, and vodka cocktail that was tangy and refreshing. A couple friends had espresso martinis and they liked them as well.
For our main courses, I'll start with the not so great.
My friend ordered the cacio e Pepe made with house made fettuccine, brown butter and of course black pepper and pecorino. She hated it and complained it had no flavor. It had no cheese or pepper flavor or flavor at all. Kind of like the pasta was just left in some leftover pasta water. If you don't know cacio e Pepe is hard to make right, but when it is it is creamy, very flavorful even though it is limited ingredients. She asked for more cheese and various other things to make her dish have flavor. No real luck.
I, on the other hand, had a duck special. It was delicious. It was duck breast with forbidden rice and I believe bok choy. It had a lot of flavor and I wish I could just get a bowl of that rice and more slices of duck to go. Another friend had it as well and she also raved about it.
Our fourth, had the saffron risotto with wild mushrooms I believe, and enjoyed hers. Also commenting hers had a ton of flavor.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
